Hi there, I'm looking for some advice about doctors. My husband and I just moved back to Montreal after a few years away, and we're looking for either a family doctor or a pediatrician who's taking patients. Preferably in the NDG area, though we could drive further afield if necessary. Clinics and the CLSC were fine when we were students, but now that we have a child, we want a more permanent physician. Besides, the CLSC doesn't see children, so we can't go that route. I know how hard it can be to find a doctor in this city, but I was hoping someone might have some good advice. If we can't find a doctor in the next month or so, where do we go to get his vaccinations taken care of? Just to the hospital?
Also, does anyone know of good programs for toddlers in the vicinity of NDG? I've tried looking at several different community centres in the neighbourhood, and none have what I'm looking for - music/rhythm/movement classes, arts and crafts, swim programs, or even just an open play area where kids can run around in a gymnasium while their parents sit on the sidelines and chat. Some facilities have resources for older kids (like 4 and up) but nothing for the really little ones. Even the parks near our place are dominated by school-aged kids and I've seen very few moms with babies the age of mine (14 months) since moving here. The NDG Community Centre seems to have a couple of things starting in September, but there's nothing going on right now that I can see (I went there and the office was closed for the summer and the place was completely dead :P) I'm feeling very cut off from other moms right now, having left behind the entire support network I'd built up since he was born, and I'm trying to find some way to get out of the house. Any suggestions? Any other parents of toddlers in here who'd like to meet up for a play-date? :)
