I'm due to take the road test for my driver's license on the 18th, unfortunately I found out I won't be able to use the family car.

I'll be at the Hymus office, and while the SAAQ states they do not rent cars, someone told me there is a rental office there. Does anyone know the company name or a number I can call to reserve?!

Can anyone recommend a car hire company? I won't touch Budget at Complexe Desjardins because they screwed me over a couple of years ago, but other than that I'm open to suggestions!

City centre/Cote des Neiges area. Preferably someone that won't throw a tantrum when I produce a British licence (I'm allowed to drive in Canada, I've done it before!).

I need to rent a car this weekend and I have quotes from a couple companys. The problem is they are charging an extra $30 or $40 because I am under 25 (22).

Does anyone know of a company that doesn't do this and will rent me a car at a decent rate?

I have a few questions about renting cars. I checked the memories, but everything I saw was a few years old, and these things can change a lot over time...

1) Are there any car rental places in St-Henri (near Lionel-Groulx)? yellowpages.ca doesn't show any, but there are places that I know exist that don't show up, so that's obviously not 100% reliable.

2) Do the rental places hike their prices for long weekends?

3) Have you recently done the hours-on-the-phone comparison shopping thing, calling every rental place and getting quotes for them all? And would you like to share your results? I did it a few years ago and finally settled on Budget I think, but that's woefully out of date, I'm sure.

4) Do you know of any promotions/deals on now?

5) Finally, do you have a recommendation for where to rent a car for this Saturday?
Obviously I'd like to keep the price as low as possible, but quality and convenience are also factors.
