Any place to refill OPUS with Visa?

Well in other provinces I always used VISA to pay for my public transit I do not use any other forms of payment as | get points for using my VISA. If other provinces allow you to use VISA to pay, why not this one? I've been to like over 20 places, no place accepts it?

Anyone have a solution? TIA

carte opus and the train

I want to charge my opus card with a train pass but ever since these major changes, I'm not completely sure how the system works when it comes to travelling by  train anymore. What is the point of getting a train pass on my opus card? How will those random train pass checkers know that I've actually charged my card and thus paid to travel on the train? And would I still be able to use my opus card on the metro and bus as well by purchasing the monthly train pass?

Bus tickets/metro tickets, etc.

I'm visiting Montreal in a few months and I want to get around using exclusively public transportation, if possible. I was wondering what the best way to do this was. I'm going to be there for six days, so looking at the STM site my options would be the CAM hebdo (although I'm arriving on a Tuesday night and it seems like they're not available after Tuesdays?) or two three-day tourist cards.

I'm a bit confused as to what a "trip" constitutes. Is it just one ride and then if I transfer I have to pay the $2.75 again? Or can one fare/trip be used to transfer between buses/metros within a certain period of time...?

Thanks.

CAM OPUS

Does anyone know where, in the West Island, can I recharge my OPUS card? Somewhere in the Valois area or anywhere in Pointe-Claire preferably. I don't want to have to go downtown just to recharge my OPUS card.
Also, how does the OPUS card work for the trains?
Thanks

Student OPUS

Sorry, I'm a bit rushed, so this message will be short and to the point.

Where do I get the Student OPUS card? The website for both STM and OPUS isn't helping me much. It just says that I get a reduced fare once I have the card.

I've never gotten a student pass before this, as I've never really had to use public transit, so if it's in the same place, and you're thinking I'm an idiot, I assure I'm totally new to this process.

Someone told me it's in the Eaton centre, but there are no signs directing you to it, and someone else has told me it's on University St.

Please help!

Trouble

[info]delqc

(no subject)

Hoping for the benefits of being able to buy a monthly bus pas with my debit or credit card at the automatic machines in the metro stations (as opposed to carrying around $70 cash, having the metro booth person be missing, having them "run out" of bus passes, etc) as well as the advantage of the insurance policy (supposedly if you lose your bus pass the STM will be able to reimbourse you) I decided to buy an OPUS card today.

Long, painful efforts under here...  )

For regular fare transit users, I recommend waiting at least several months before upgrading to an opus card! Perhaps by then they will be more widely available and easier to acquire. What a hassle!!!

OPUS Card...?

I live in Laval and recently, I've seen people use these cards for the STL/STM... how do they work? Starting September I need to commute by bus to school, so is there any sort of student discount anywhere?

Thanks :3

(I would go to the website, but it's in French, which i am handicapped in.)

bus virgin

i need help! i have NO idea how to get a bus pass/take the bus. i have no idea how you know where to take it from, and how you know where your bus goes, even if you know where the bus stop is. i know this is a ridiculous question but i am still pretty new to city life in general and almost always enjoy walking. i have tried using the STM site, but it must be the single most confusing site on earth. i used to walk everywhere but now that i live in an apartment that is far from downtown (where i need to be most of the time), i will need to take the bus in the dead of winter. any help on direction is much appreciated! thanks!

when is the latest i can get a bus pass?

I'm out of town at the moment but I need to get a Sept $66 bus pass.

When is the latest they will sell this pass?  I know they start selling the passes on the 25 of each month but when do they stop selling the passes?  And are there only certain locations where the passes are sold?

i consulted the stm website but nothing.

thanks

OPUS card

Which metro stations downtown are selling them? And can I just buy the card without loading it (since I already bought my August pass)?

Hey!

So, I went home to Winnipeg for the summer, and I'm happily counting down the days until I'm back in Montreal! I've been reading the rants & raves on craigslist and it seems like the new metro card system isn't working too well? I was just wondering what your experiences have been so far. Do the cards usually work? Is it going to be a big hassle? What else has been going on since the end of May? Tell me everything! :)

Montreal to Laval transportation confusion

Hi

I will be working on Laval for 4-8 mths...and hopefully I can extend my contract to 12 mths.
I am working at 2000, Cunard Street, Laval.
I have bolded my questions....to help with my post that has a lot of writing in it

I have been having difficulty looking for a 1 1/2 studio in the right location to get to Laval from Montreal.  when I look at the map, NDG and downtown montreal look too far.  I work from 8 30 to 5 00 so during winter it's very dark and I don't want to walk alone at night being a girl and all.

bus pass

Figure this might be a long shot, but -
My bike was just stolen. I was wondering if anyone has a bus pass (of the student 35$ sort) that they want to get rid of at half(ish) price for the rest of the month.
Thanks.

STM CAM Passes for Tax Receipt Purposes

As most probably know, it is a good idea to save your monthly transit passes for income tax purposes. I picked up my monthly (albeit student/reduced-fare) pass a few days ago, and noticed after the fact that the price does not appear to be printed on the 2007 passes -- instead, it's listed as $BB. Now, maybe CRA has a new-fangled way of counting, but $BB doesn't seem to mean much to me.

Anyone know what the deal with this is?

Carte Privilège

I'm going to be moving to NDG soon and I wanted to get my Carte Privilège. The problem is I'm getting a sublet, thus I have no lease/utility bill to prove I live there. Is there any other type of document I could bring to prove my residence?

Win one-year subscriptions to monthly CAM passes

Just thought I'd pass this along: As part of the STM's 40th aniversarry, they're giving away 40 one-year CAM pass subscriptions. You can enter the contest online, and I believe that there are also entry forms in today's Métro newspaper.

Student metropasses

Just a heads-up to anyone else who's moving to Montreal in August for school...

You can get a carte privilège in August; you don't have to wait for September/October. Your lease can be used as proof of residence. I was wondering about the student card because my utilities are included in my rent (so how am I supposed to show a hydro/phone bill?) and paying adult fare for transit is not cool, so I called them and asked.

Now, what to do with that extra sixty bucks...
