Swimming Pools/natural water & Crumpets please?

Hi all,

I am trying to find out where the easiest to access and clean and best outdoor pools are in Montreal. I live between the plateau and downtown so somewhere on ontario/st catherine/st laurent would be great. I'm looking for people's favourite places but also if anyone knows a website that has them all compiled and listed? I found one for the west island but none closer.

I know there is some natural water here and there and wonder if anyone goes in it? Are there places that have grass and streams to swim in? Hmm. I know there is Oka Beach but hoping something a bit closer exists.

Also, somewhat unrelated, I am looking for crumpets. Kinda like english muffins but with big holes to put your butter and jam in. Delicious! Do they exist here?

Thanks much!!

The summer time of the year is almost here. What is your favorite place in Quebec with a good lake where one can have barbecue with friends and swim in water?

Beaches/Hotels around Montreal

Hi,

I know this community is for Montreal but I figured asking this won't hurt seeing as other Montrealers might want to know this type of info. Correct me if I'm wrong.
I'm wondering if anyone can answer some questions I have about Magog. I would like to take a weekend trip from Montreal to Magog. The whole idea is to get some beach/relaxing time before summer ends. I know that Magog borders on Lac Memphremagog but I'm wondering if the beach is easily accesible by foot from the main town. Also, does anyone know of an inexpensive: read cheap, but minimally sketchy hotel or B&B that you could reccomend in Magog? I would like to go overnight if possible but am on a very tight budget.
My last question is if anyone can reccomend other beaches near Montreal that may be accesible by bus or rideshare that offer some relaxation. I don't drive which is why I chose Magog because there's bus and rideshare out there and I know it a bit but I'm wondering if there is anywhere else that you could reccomend. I'm not from Montreal and don't kow where Montrealers go to relax.
Any input would be much appreciated.

Classic swimmin' holes?

does anyone know of a publicly accessible, lovely, cool, unpolluted lake within a couple hours' drive of Montreal, where a couple and their dog can swim?

I am not talking Oka, or Parc Jean-Drapeau, or those parks up at the northwestern tip of the island, or a park where you have to pay to get in, or a section of rocky slime-covered riverbed, or where you have to share a square of pee-filled water hemmed in by water buoys, bored lifeguards, and swarms of 13-year-olds. Not that those things don't have their place, but I am talking NATURE! possibly SKINNY DIPPING! does it even exist anymore???

non-leech-infested would also be nice.

my honey and I have tried innumerable times to find such a place around Montreal and have struck out each time... please help!!

Beaches anywhere?

I've lived in Montreal my whole life so it's pretty shamfull for me to admit that when it comes down to finding this to do with my family around here i'm at a total loss. I was wondering if there was any nice beaches to go to around here. I've heard of oka beach and was told that it was a nudess beach which i really don't think i should take my 12 year old son. Anyone ever been there?  I'd love some insight on oka beach and any other beach that wouldn't be too far :)

Hi!

is there a place for outdoor swimming in Montreal?  A pond or a river or anything like that?  Something within a short drive from the city is great, too.

Merci!

Is there somewhere accessible by metro that has a beach/water/pool that is good for lounging in swimwear?

I don't want to go sit in a random park in my bikini. I need water to justify it.

Suggestions, please!
