Hey everyone! Here's a Reggae Festival update...

7-Time JUNO Nominated R&B/Neo-Soul singer Lorraine Reid has been invited to perform at the Montreal Reggae Festival on July 12. Known to many for her work with the dance group Temperance, Lorraine will be performing songs from her debut solo album "Lessons Learned," to be released this summer. Lorraine is also scheduled to play the Michigan Reggae Festival this coming August.

The Concordia Association of Students in English (CASE) is hosting our 2nd open mic of the school year this Tuesday, January 16th. Come have a drink, support your friends, and maybe even get up on the mic -- you could get a free drink out of it! There are great door prizes to be won, like tickets to a hockey game at the Bell Centre. Also, CASE executives will perform the winning plays from the “Enter Stage Right Contest”.

The organization I work for is looking to get a couple hundred of 1 1/4 inch colour buttons/pins made, preferably by a cheap local company of some sort. We have our own design. Does anyone know a good place?

mmkay, this should be easy. I'm looking for the comic strip that was in the concordia Link like a month ago, Haagen Fagz i think. I'm certain i've seen one of the disembodied heads in that strip posting in this community (also like two days ago at the HMV I work at, i think), I just can't find this person after looking for like half an hour. My bros and I would like to have two figurines made of some characters invented by my dad for Christmas. It doesn't matter what medium, as long as they look like the two dragons in the drawings (I'll email them to whoever's interested). If you think you can do that and would like to make a bit of extra dough before Christmas, please contact me!

I was wondering if anyone in this community is interested (or knows someone who would be) in a paid gig as a face painter at my son's dragon-themed birthday.  It'll be mainly older kids (around 11) but a couple of younger kids too.

If there is anyone out there that has some kind of entertainment that fits with the dragon theme I'd love to hear from you.  I'm pretty stumped at the moment.

Hi there! My name is Claire and I'm in charge of publicity for the McGill Savoy Society. We are putting on a production of Gilbert and Sullivan's "Iolanthe" and we're currently looking to fill the following positions:

Costume Designer: You will be given a budget and will be responsible for collaborating with other members of the creative team to find a common vision, sketching the costumes and then working with a team of helpers to make approximately 30 costumes for fairies and parliamentary lords.

Set Designer: You will be given a budget and will be resposible for collaborating with the other members of the creative team to find a common vision, sketching the sets and then working with a set of helpers to create a woodland clearing and something closely resembling British parliament.

Web Designer: You will be in charge of examining our existing website, making any changes necessary and updating the information.

Graphic Designer: You will be in charge of creating an overall look for the website, making posters and doing the layout for the program.

All of these positions are volunteer positions, but we can promise you comps to our shows and some really great times with hilarious theatre nuts. You do not have to be a McGill student, or a student at all! If you're interested, please contact me at publicity.savoy@gmail.com for more information.

Je cherche un acteur pour un projet personnel que j'essaie de mettre en branle depuis un an. J'ai essayé de jouer le rôle et j'en suis venu à la conclusion que ce n'était pas pour moi mais étant donné que certaines scènes ont été tournées, je peux vous montrer un apercu du ton et du style du film. Ceci étant fait... C'est l'histoire d'un homme dont la copine a été tuée il y a une dizaine d'années et qui ne s'en est jamais remis, il s'est coupé de son réseau social et a commencé à mener une vie sédentaire. Il demeure dans le sous-sol d'un couple dysfonctionnel et développe un intérêt amoureux envers la dame du couple. Cet homme n'a pris aucune décision active depuis dix ans, sa vie n'a aucune direction, il se laisse mener selon les événements extérieurs. Jusqu'au jour où cette femme se fait kidnapper sous ses yeux. Et en l'espace d'un instant, il doit décider s'il veut agir ou non. S'il veut poser une action ou rester dans son confort inconscient.

Voilà donc l'idée de départ du film. L'histoire n'est pas nécessairement originale ou novatrice, ce projet est pour moi une chance d'expérimenter et de parvenir, avec le style visuel et la musique, à faire vivre au spectateur une gamme d'émotions.
