Hello Montreal!

I will be moving to Montreal and I need a place to live for Sept. 1st.
I found a potential roomie so we are interested in either a 2 bedroom or I'm looking for a room for myself as well if the 2 bedroom does not pan out. We are also willing to live with other people, in a place with more rooms, but are really only interested in sharing a house with other activists/anarchists/radicals etc. We're mostly looking to live in St.Henri, but also possibly areas of Point St.Charles or NDG. We like to garden, i like to cook (i'm a vegan), she's going to concodria for communications and cultural studies and i'm doing a masters in ecology at mcgill, we are into activisty things, composting, coffee, free food, cats and being really friendly and respectful to our roomates... we're definitely really laid back but not really into lots of big parties.

I've been looking on kijjiji and craigslist, but if anyone has any leads to share that would be awesome!!!!!!

I tried a bunch of the tags on Apartment finding in Montreal but am having trouble searching for a place around the Laurier-Mont Royal Metro area(s) past the McGill classifieds and Craigslist. Any recommendations on other websites to check out? Maybe a NTS or Concordia or UdeM site of some sort? I also looked well into Kijiji but haven't found what I'm looking for.

And in the case that anyone knows of an opening... I'm looking for a place of 2-4 people around the Mont Royal or Laurier metro stations with sunshine and great roommates.

It is a lovely 7 ½ on Notre-Dame at Rose-de-Lima; rent is $200 for a large bedroom with closet (…but no window). Utilities not included in rent, and optional internet & land phone with unlimited North American long distance for $18/month. We are near Lionel-Groulx metro, Atwater market, two large grocery stores, the Lachine canal, the Turcot Interchange, a pharmacy, and lots of deps and diners.

The apartment is sunny, with a large kitchen, lots of cabinets, a view of the Farine Five Roses sign, and a living room with balcony access. (Also you can help us pick a colour to go over the terrible mauve in the kitchen!)

We are three fairly geeky, queer- and trans-friendly McGill students, 20ish, two ciswomen and one cisman. We are mostly anglo and collectively study (urban) geography, women’s studies, philosophy, and Russian. Two of us are from Kitchener, Ontario, and one of us is from Encinitas (near San Diego), California. We are prone to accidentally staying up late talking and eating many sugary foods at our kitchen table, having roommate drinking nights, playing board games, undertaking construction projects, and various combinations thereof. Our apartment also contains for your enjoyment: a dolly, a drill, a large tea stash, and communal bookshelves. All of us are somewhat socially awkward and sometimes judgmental, but very friendly! One of us is allergic to cats, but reptiles are strongly encouraged.

You are around our own age, preferably not excessively hip, and up for participating in roommate fun times. You are a considerate roommate as well (regular dishwashing, making little noise while people are sleeping, keeping common spaces fairly clean). The three of us are vegetarian, share groceries and frequently cook and eat together; we hope to find someone who is into that too. We’re also hoping for a fairly environmentally conscious flatmate (turning off lights, keeping the heater low, vermicomposting, using cloth shopping bags, et cetera). Socially inept roommates welcome; you will feel right at home!

I'm looking for a housemate to share a 8 1/2 in Petite Patrie / Little Italy. Somebody initially took a room for the summer, but then had to back out, so we're looking for someone for at least July and August, with the option to stay on indefinitely.

The apartment: Is a ground floor in a triplex, with a garden out back and front. The rent is $250 a month not including utilities (see details below). There are 4 bedrooms; yours would be either a rather funky little room with a window out into the backyard and one wall with a sort of stucco-arabesque counter like in a bar, with fake-gold inlined mirrors... um, yeah...you have to see it, obviously. The other room is in the front, with a window facing the street. It's normal. There are hardwood floors in the bedrooms and tile in the rest of the flat.

Other goodies: DSL, option to share costs for food, washing machine (no dryer... we use drying racks and a clothesline), compost box we built ourselves. Beaubien Metro is 5 minutes away (orange line), and there are tons of restaurants, shops, etc., in the area.

About us: two friendly queer guys, one German and one American/Canadian, ages 28 and 32, one a film student at Concordia and one a translator/history geek. The other housemate is a French-Canadian girl, 24, a biology student at MacDonald College. We speak English, German, French, Italian, and a little bit of Spanish. None of us smoke, but we're ok with it if you are religious about opening windows or smoking outside. We don't each much meat but will not sue you if you poke our tofu with your chicken fork.

Money money money: Rent is $250 a month, one month minimum, to be paid upon moving in. Utilities usually turn out to be about $70-80 a month. In the past, we have bought bulk food by each contributing $50 a month, but that's optional.

De L'Esplanade + Mont-Royal. Right beside the mountain and Parc Jeanne Mance. The Provigo is right across the street, while the SAQ is across the street from the Provigo. St Laurent clubs are all walking distance, so basically this place fits your every need! There are two rooms available. Stone walls, washer and dryer in the building. Both rooms are available beginning in july (lease transfer). You can sign onto a new lease in september if you like too! Rent is a bit under $300 and heating is included for those interested in signing onto the new lease in september and being here for the winter.

I'm a 20 year old male student at concordia, I'm really relaxed but I do like to go out and have fun. My current roommates are smokers and smoke in the apartment, but once they move out I'm introducing a no smoking cigarettes in the house policy. I say cigarettes because i smoke the hookah once or twice a week which doesnt make the  place smell bad!

I'll be moving to Montreal from Istanbul on Tuesday. I'd like to find a/some roommate/s. But the problem is that I'm very sad - my husband's visa application to Canada has been rejected. I'll be coming without him.
