Listings of Foreclosed Homes?

Hello, you knowledgable people, you. I am wondering where to find listings of foreclosed condos/apartments/homes in Montreal? I can't seem to find any online -- do I just start calling bank branches? Thanks!

Cheapest accomodation in Montreal

Putting aside hostels, what is the cheapest accomodation possible that one could find in Montreal?

My girlfriend (who is English) is coming to Montreal to visit me for 6 months, and she is looking for the cheapest logding here that isn't a hostel, a hotel or somebody's couch (there are many reasons for this).

Any suggestions (e.g. student dorm rooms)?

Thanks in advance!

looking for hotel recommendations

A friend and I will be traveling to Montreal in August for Anticipation - the SciFi WorldCon - and plan to stay a few days to see the sights. I am looking for recommendations on inexpensive hotels as well as places to avoid. Our main requirements are that there be parking, private bath and internet access available. Any suggestions on things to do, and things not to miss would be welcome as well Thanks.

Moving to montreal - Where to stay while looking for an apartment?

Hi,

I'm looking for a place to stay this summer for a few weeks to a month, while I look for an apartment.

I remember seeing a post about a b&b/hotel in the Mcgill area that offered rooms on a weekly and monthly basis. I think it was around $300 a week for a room with shared washroom. I've searched the Montreal community memories but can't seem to find the post mentioning their website.

If you know of anything similar please let me know. Looking to spend around $300 a week, area doesn't matter as long as it's near a metro station. Any help is appreciated.

dirt cheap boho

Hi, I was hoping someone could pitch me a place in Montreal where I can find a minuscule and seriously cheap apartment. Tiny odd corner somewhere. Maybe even a place that's cheaply grungy picturesque in a hippie way that an artist would love. Any ideas? thanks

Juste Pour Rire

Bonjour, you lovely bi-linguists!
This summer I was hoping to come to Montreal for the Just For Laughs festival before I go off to university. The only problem is, I'm a Brit, so most of my meagre savings would have to go on plane tickets.
On the JFL website they mentioned volunteering, but I can't find any other information about it - has anyone here tried it? Do you have to be Canadian? Anyone know if you actually get to see any of the shows? Or (be still my beating heart) they provide any accommodation?
Sorry if I'm bombarding you with questions - just I've wanted to do this for years : )
Equally, if you have any advice on staying/eating cheaply in Montreal that would be fantastic.
Thanks for any help!

Weekend spa retreats

Hi

Does anyone know of any good weekend type spa retreat places? Specifically it'll be for 2 people (sharing a room) and I would like lots and lots of massages, places to bathe, and good food included in the package.

If you've had any experience with such retreats, i'd love to hear about them!

Thanks!

Help for planning an unusual event

Hi all,

I'm planning a bachelor party for a good friend of mine. I'm trying to find a way to do something fun that suits his particular style...I'm trying to avoid just having a regular party at someone's house.

He wants no strippers or dancers, which is fine. He and his other friends aren't the bar or billiards type.

Since they (and myself somewhat) are video game geeks, I was trying to find out if there are any video arcades in Montreal that could be rented out for a few hours for a private event like this (and if its affordable) or something similar.

Any info or suggestions are appreciated.

Non-canadians working in MTL?

Hello! Salut!
Any of you have any suggestions about this situation?!
Des suggestions pour cette situation??

I have 3 friends (from Czech and Spain) coming over. They would like to live and work here while visiting the city. I'm not sure about the possibility of finding work in Montreal for strangers (who do speak French and English) for 2 months (around mid-june/beginning july). They will have visas. I thought about restaurants... They only need enough money to pay their trips, that's it.

I'm also trying to check out a cheap place to rent for 2 months. Anywhere near a metro would be ok, doesn't even have to be downtown Montreal (cheaper!!!)... Green line? Orange line?

visting in august/neighborhoods/apts/etc

I'm coming to Montreal for the month of August to do some research at the CCA, and am trying to figure out where to live, how much to pay, etc.

I'm really interested in exploring Montreal and seeing all it has to offer while I'm in town -- thus I'd like to live in a busy are with plenty of shopping, bars, restaurants, etc. -- someplace where I feel like I'm in the middle of things. Is this basically the Plateau area? Would the area right around McGill be really quiet/too far away from where things are happening? Are there other neighborhoods that I should check out, keeping in mind that I'll need to go to th CCA every day?

Also, what should I expect to pay for a sublet? I am fine with sharing an apt with others, and have limited funding so am looking for something relatively cheap. I just can't tell what I should be able to get for $400, $600, $800...

Thanks.

Place to stay Short Term

I need a place for 3 weeks of the month and don't have enough to rent an apartment for this time but was wondering if anybody out there can offer a couch/extra bed/basement/a space on the floor (my sleeping bag) for a few nights?
I am congenial, well mannered 21 year old English teacher who is here until the consolate gets back to me about when I can leave for Europe. If you find it in your heart or home to have me it would be much appreciated. I am suggesting 3 days because I don't wish to put anybody out but if you can offer longer that's also cool. You should meet me also. Cool. Thank you
