transmitter?

I use an indoor antenna with my TV to get channels 2, 6, 10, & 12. Suddenly, I've got no signal on all the channels. Is there a problem with the transmitter? Anyone else having the same problem?

Palm 750 expert?

I'm in need of a smart phone guru. I have a palm treo 750 unlocked on fido. I have a feeling this thing could be really sick if I had some apps on it worth mentioning and/or knew wtf I was actually doing (I graduated from a flip phone only very recently. Prior to this a camera phone was a huge BFD).

I'm willing to pay you some money to sit down with me at some cafe and show me what's up, but you need to really know your shizzle and not be showing me "look! it has word!" Ideally you can show me why I can't get gmail to work right and fix that, amongst other things. Impress me, I'm easy with the cash when I'm happy and a sick mobile makes my day!

I don't want to do it over the phone or computer, I need hands on experience.

Let me know at wendykh at gmail or through here, whatever.

Thanks!

(no subject)

Montreal, I need your help yet again lol.

I have an appointment tomorrow morning in Longueuil at the SAAQ. I have tried googling, using MapQuest..ect but cannot, for the life of me, find directions by metro/bussing.

I'm hoping someone from Longueuil sees this and wants to help me :)

I know it's at Longueuil metro, but from there, I'm stomped. I'm travelling from Monk metro as well, so I want to make sure I don't miss my appointment.

So please. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The address is 2877 Chambly Road, located in the Commercial Places Des Ormeaux.
Thanks
ee

Happy Birthday Montreal!

Today is the 8th anniversary of this community!

8 years ago I was a bored university student on summer holiday who decided LJ needed a place for Montrealers to meet and have their little LJ corner to talk about a city I loved.

Today, we stand at 12,000 posts and 2315 members! (these numbers have gone up since I started writing this post...)
Some of you have been around all this time, some of you joined us this week during the spotlight (which has spectacular timing, btw!)

While absolutely no two people agree on what should be in here or not, I think we've done well!

Thanks :)

~.~

query about mcgill university and montreal

i am a medical student in scotland who can't speak french very well but I am considering doing my medical elective (a rotation and project i have to plan independently) at mcgill university.

i know this is the "english speaking" university in montreal but what i wanted to ask was how easy it would be for a medic in montreal who isn't fluent in french to work in the hospitals (dealing with patients and staff etc) and to get by in the city?

also if anyone is a medical student/doctor in montreal would be good to hear from you? or if you know anyone who is, or if you know someone who has done their elective in montreal?

cheers

Transit tips..

Good afternoon!

My boyfriend and I will be visiting your fine city in a few weeks and I anticipate we will be taking full advantage of the transit system to keep costs reasonable.  Just wanted to see if any one you lovely folks have any tips for me in terms of safety, etc. etc. etc.  We'll be staying on Rue Gilford close to Metro Laurier.  I'm accustomed to the TTC here in Toronto but your metro system looks.. interesting in comparison to our subway system, heh.

Cheers!
Gwen

New-ish dishwasher needs fixing (and installing new bathroom)

The built in dishwasher was one of the perks of buying condo for me. The first/previous owner said he hadn’t used it very often, but that it worked fine. Since I moved in, it’s broken, and he has kindly agreed to pay for the repairs. Because the builder installed it (and has since gone bankrupt) I don’t have anyone in particular to call to do the repairs. Also, I’ve been strongly advised to hire someone recommended, rather than the yellow pages way. So, do you know a plumber / dishwasher-fixer type that you would like to recommend for the job? Or as perhaps more of an incentive for them, this person would also potentially be hired to install a new bathroom as well. The job is downtown.

Merci!

Skills trading

I'm looking to trade some of my skills for some of yours.
I'd like to learn photography.  I have a decent DSLR.
I'm also a knitting teacher, and would love to trade knitting instruction for photography tips.
