Who knows what happened there?

Heya!

Does anyone know any details about an accident happened around 6pm on Sherbrooke and Papineau?
I didn't saw second car... so what i think is that guy just lose control of the car...

I didn't saw ambulance or firemen, so looks like everyone is alive.

UPD: Pics fixed.

Repairing leather bag

The shoulder strap ripped off of my leather messenger bag, taking the rivet with it and tearing the original rivet hole a little. Does anyone know a cheap place in Outremont or near McGill that I could get this fixed? Thank you!

Hello from Florida! :)

Wow! How very lucky am I that Live Journal would Spotlight this community!

My name is Jessica, and I'm a college student from Boca Raton, Florida. I've lived down here my entire life, but for the longest time I've had a true fascination and inclination toward Canada. For many reasons, I think Canada would be a great match for me, and would feel extremely fortunate to one day call it my home. My boyfriend of several years have begun to try to shape our future lives together and both feel very excited about the possibilities Canada could bring for us. A trip my boyfriend's family took to Canada really cemented our wishful fantasies!

Here is the problem, we are terribly undereducated about how we would go about making this work for us! We were first hoping to travel up and spend a decent amount of time seriously considering what part of Canada we would be most compatible for us, and perhaps checking out a few universities?

We would both like to study up there, but we had read that after finishing a study permit, we would have to "You must satisfy an immigration officer that you will leave Canada when you have completed your studies."

We are just thoroughly confused but are serious about finding more information out.

So I'm calling upon you, members of Montreal, with any information about traveling to Canada, study permits, immigration, or just any helpful information, my boyfriend and I would be extremely appreciative! :)

Also, if email is easier, stkhlmxsyndrme@gmail.com

Thank you all so much!
Hope to hear from you soon! :)

Have some free time? Translation help please!

I am involved in Anticipation, the 67th Worldcon in Montreal. Worldcon is the annual
international convention for people interested in science-fiction and fantasy.
Thousands of people travel annually for this convention from all over the world.
(25+ countries already pre-registered.)

My part of the convention is putting together the Programme Guide. Since the
convention will be held in Montreal, we need to have our Programme Guide in both
English and French. Unfortunately, the volume of items that need translation
is beyond the capacity of our volunteer translation team.

Please help us out!

If you can translate from English into French or the other way around, I would very
much appreciate your help. Your French or English does not have to be perfect;
we can proofread translations as necessary. While articles vary in length, for the
most part they will average around 150 words. This would be a fun exercise for
anyone who wants to practice their translation skills, as the language structure
involved is not overly complex but there is some specialized vocabulary.

While I cannot offer payment for translations, I can offer credits and a copy of the
Programme Guide, once it has been printed. Depending on the amount of work
contributed, I might be able to negotiate a slight discount for those interested in
attending the convention, which takes place August 6-10, 2009

Many thanks!

Visiting Montreal at the end of this month

Hello everyone! My husband and I are going to be coming up to Montreal for honeymoon at the end of this month. While we have most of the trip up there planned out, we have no idea where to eat! I would really appreciate any suggestions! We are open to trying anything and would like to try at least one nicer/fancier restaraunt while we are up there. But please recommend any diners, drive-ins, dives etc that are a must try while I am up there.

Cheap place to get passport photos?

The Jean Coutu is ridiculously expensive (10 and some change for 2 photos.) Hoping I can find a cheaper alternative as I need six photos for a work permit soon and don't want to go broke getting them done. Any help? I live in the plateau but I don't mind going a ways to get a deal.

Bonjour! Hello!

Hi, my boyfriend and I will be visiting Montreal sometime this summer. I'm American. I am applying to McGill University for graduate school. I hope to make some new friends and learn all I can about this city before our trip. Thanks! ~Amanda
