Hair Questions

Hey MTL,

I'm a hair fiend that knows her stuff down in the United States, but once moved here, I have nobody to show me around! I have a couple of questions...

I've been trying to look up places to do hair extensions (any kind), where my wallet wouldn't cry. On average, what's the price around here? They don't need to be FABULOUS since I'll probably get rid of them within a couple of months (I just miss long hair!).

Down south I used to go to a beauty school to get all my crazy hair fixes for little money and great results, but unfortunately I don't know where to go here!

Any suggestions for cheap(ish) hair salons that will encourage my hair dreams and make them come true?
And I will have to go to Heaven.

Safe-travel luggage/packing help and advice?

Yes, yes, me again...

I need some serious help with and advice on my travel situation here. )

I thought about getting one of those huge expedition-style backpacks (maybe something like this like from MEC), but I think that'd look even more out of place in a city - however, from what I can tell, that might be a suitable option because there are no outside pockets that anyone could pick-pocket from, though it might get kind of tiresome to have to drag it around EVERYWHERE... I'm sure I'll look really funny onstage with my pack at my feet, but I figure it's better to be paranoid than to lose all your stuff, right? Right? ;) However, I'll be taking the Adirondack Trailways bus from Longueuil to Boston (and then home again, after all the Boston - New York - Philadelphia traveling) and I don't know if they'll try to make me stow my bag away under the bus since it's kind of big; I'm going to stop by the terminus on Monday and ask if they have limits on carry-on luggage size or whatever, but I don't know.

So, anyone have any ideas or suggestions? I'm going to try to head out to the MEC store in Montreal in the next couple of days to see what they have to offer, but if anyone has any better ideas, or tips or places to check out or whatever, please let me know. Thanks so much in advance :)

PS. Anyone know where I can pick up rubber door wedges? Someone online suggested those, for cramming under your door at night if you're worried about your lock or someone trying to open your door, and I figure better safe than sorry; might as well bring a couple along, but I have no idea where to find them. Thanks again!

Village des Valeurs

Is the Village des Valeurs at Namur walking distance from the metro station, or should I plan to take a bus? If so, which route?

Thanks in advance!!
