It's the moment you've all been waiting for! (well, if you want to win the raffle) The last set of prizes to choose from! Monsterhead Scarves! The Grand Prize Winner will get to choose not only a Monster Nursery Holiday Stocking, *and* a Monster Nursery Monsterhead Pillow, but *also* choose a Monster Nursery Monsterhead Scarf from the ones below!
These scarves are super cute and very warm! They not only keep the winter chill off of your neck, but you look stylin' at the same time! A great way to add a fun accent in a sea of drab winter wear. ( More scarf photos and details under the cut! ) The winner will also get to choose a Monsterhead Pillow, and a Monster Nursery Holiday Stocking from the photos posted earlier. The combined value of all 3 prize choices is over $100! Today is the last day to buy tickets! They are only $1 each, and you can buy as many as you like! It's been a bit of a wait, but they're here now! If you missed the first raffle post, go here to see the first prize choices revealed!
Choice #2! A Monsterhead Pillow! These are *very* soft and cuddly and the perfect thing to snuggle up to while watching a movie at home, reading a book, or even taking a nap. Each one is about 13-14" wide and 9-10" tall. They are all hand made and each one's a little bit different. They have either minky or minky rosette on the front, soft monster fur on the back, and they are stuffed with polyfil. They have embroidery floss for noses, and their eyes are minky covered buttons, sewn to be secure (they are more secure than standard clothing buttons, but still not recommended for young children unsupervised, because they can be a choking hazard if pulled/cut off). The winner of the Month of Celebration raffle will be able to choose 1 (one) Monster Nursery Holiday Stocking from the ones previously revealed (a $35+ value), and also 1 (one) Monsterhead Pillow from the selections shown below and under the cut ($40 value)! A 3rd prize will be revealed before the drawing on October 31st, so buy your tickets now! The 3rd prize is very special and is something that has never been available to buy or adopt on the Monster Nursery, so keep your eyes open! The first pillow is made with hand dyed minky and is truly one of a kind. I don't have much of this fabric, so this one is a true treat!
( more pillow choices! )
The tickets are just $1, and there is no limit to how many you can buy! Each ticket you buy gives us a number which is then printed out and put into a box to draw from (yes, we do it the 'old fashioned' way every year!), so the more tickets you buy, the more pieces of paper you'll have in the drawing and the more chances you'll have to win! Click below to buy your raffle ticket(s) now! The link will take you to Paypal, but you can use any credit/debit card with it if you don't have a Paypal account. Don't forget to include your shipping info if it's not on your Paypal account, or if you're using another method of payment. We want to be able to ship your prizes to you if you win! (We will *never ever* share your information with anyone else, it is to be used for this raffle event*only*) |

The Monsters love watching Ghost Hunters (most of them, some are still a little spooked by it), and this year HadesNightshade & ClaudiaRose decided that that was what they wanted to do for the Monster Nursery's birthday! So I helped them plan a 'ghost hunting' event last week, but I didn't really expect them to find any ghosts... The evening started out with HadesNightshade waiting in the garden for ClaudiaRose, so was running a bit late.
( See what happens! ) I hope you enjoyed our little 'scrapbook' of their 'Birthday Ghost Hunting' event! It looks like the Month of celebration is still off to a great start and the next prizes for the raffle will be revealed by the end of this week, so stay tuned! :D |

The Monsters are back, and better than ever! And just in time for the Month of Celebration (MoC)! We're kicking things off with a big Happy Birthday greeting for the Monster Nursery's 3rd birthday, and the first day for the MoC Raffle! The Monster Nursery's Month of Celebration Raffle! The MoC Raffle happens during the entire month of October and besides being a lot of fun, it's also a way the Monster Nursery can say thank you to all the Proud Monster Parents and friends of Monsters who have made the Monster Nursery what it is today! The raffle starts today and will go until the end of the month. The drawing for the grand prize will be on the 31st and the winner will be announced here on the site. Each ticket is still only $1 (what a deal!), and you can purchase as many as you like. The more tickets you buy, the better your odds of winning are, but we've also had a past winner that only bought one ticket! This year, the Grand Prize will be revealed in stages during the month of October. The Grand Prize Winner will be able to choose the color/style they want from the prizes available in each category presented. All prizes will be revealed before the date of the drawing, and you can purchase tickets anytime before then. Watch the site (and blog) for prize announcements and other MoC announcements! The first prize revealed is a Monster Nursery Stocking! ( The winner will be able to choose from the following stockings. (photos and descriptions under the cut!) ) Click below to buy your raffle ticket(s) now! The link will take you to Paypal, but you can use any credit/debit card with it if you don't have a Paypal account. The Monster Nursery is still on haitus, but there are a few important announcements that we'd like to share! 1) The Monster Nursery will be back on their 3rd birthday - October 1st - just in time for the Month of Celebration, and a very special raffle! 2) Recently www.monsternursery.com became available and we were able to secure it! We still have www.monster-nursery.com, which is the current Monster Nursery address, and the new one will be attached to the site by the time we come back. 3) The Monster Nursery is going through some big changes, so watch for a whole new look and new monsters in October! 4) The Monster Nursery cafepress store is still open and has a lot of cool items. We've tried to keep the prices low (as much as we can, some of the base prices are a little high already), and as the Monster Nursery's look changes, there will be new and updated items! Here's me with my Monster Nursery cafepress loot! :D and, for the really big news.... 5) We're going to Disneyland! That's right, the Monster Nursery will be vending at Bats Day again this year! This year is Bats Day in the Park's 10 year anniversary, and will be held on November 8th and 9th, and the Black Market vending bazaar will be a holiday themed one. That means that aside from Monsters and Monsterhead Pillows, there will be Monster Nursery Holiday Stockings! I'm very excited to be going, and this will be a great kick off after the Month of Celebration!

I have some really exciting news about the Monsters, but before I post about it, I need to share something about a very special someone in the Monster Nursery family, GoblinJack. Some of you know already, but I wanted make sure and give this the attention it deserves. So many of you pitched in, volunteered your time, energy, funds, and prayers for GoblinJack. I will forever be grateful for all the love that friends, family, and strangers showed for a little soul that didn't deserve to be in pain. Unfortunately, on the morning February 6th, little GoblinJack lost his battle with cancer and passed away peacefully in my arms and in his loving home. I couldn't post publicly about this until now because it has been too emotional for me (even now I'm in tears), but I know that there are a lot of people who cared about him a lot and needed to know. Please know that all of the love you showed for him was not in vain, and he lived a lot longer and in less pain than he would of without all of the help he received from others. He was so appreciative of everything, and showed more love in his short time here than most people do in their whole lives. He is missed every day, but I try to keep the thought that he's not in pain anymore in my heart. He was one of the most amazing souls I have ever had the privelge of getting to know, and I am so thankful that I got the opportunity to be his mom and have him in my life. His little urn lives on my nightstand, and his memory and life will live in our hearts forever. He was so special and I know that our family is so much better having had him in our lives. I wish that I could have been able to heal him, protect him from the pain, but in the end all I could do was make things easier for him while he was here. He certainly did not deserve such a hard life (he was abused and abandoned before we got him from the ASPCA), but if I had to do it all over again, I would have brought him home with us in a heartbeat. So thank you. Thank you for all of the support, prayers, donations, and love that was given to Jack. He may not have known, but his life was just a little more comfortable while he was here because of it. And this is a little video of GoblinJack giving me 'high five' (for a treat). He could do that, 'shake hands', 'wave', 'sit', and dance around. He loved doing this and it would perk him up a lot. This is especially for photosexual, because I do believe I promised a video of this for him. :)

I turn my back for a moment and BAM! off they go! Earlier this afternoon I heard the back door slide open and a bunch of giggling. Jim yelled out "Security breach!". Downstairs I came. ...and found the monsters had made a run for it, claiming to want to play with the "lizard" that showed up over the weekend.

As I gathered the giggling snowy lot, Romeo got away from me and made a snow angel.
They were soon all rounded up and given hot chocolate and warm blankets. They spent the rest of the day on the couch with me, helping me study for my Bio101 final. Hope everyone is keeping warm!

The drawing is at 3pm PST, and if I don't have all the photos of the monsters up, the winner will still get to see the choices before they chose their Prize Package. :D Be rest assured though, you will not be disappointed! Click here or check out www.monster-nursery.com! |

It's me and I have a couple of monsters to show you! These little guys are part of Prize Package #2 (One Medium Monster, in full dress; Two Wee Monsters, in full dress). The medium monster is still getting ready. :) The two wee ones together! (photo's a little yellow. oops)
To show their wings more and their 'true' color.
My hand in there to show their size
These monsters are completely sewn by hand stitching, outfits and all. They are too small to go into the sewing machine. It doesn't take me as long anymore, and I can usually get one done in a day, sometimes two in a day. :) There are two Light Rose Swarovski crystals on the girl (all the names will be revealed tomorrow!) monster's outfit. One is in the middle of her hair bow, and one is in the front of her dress on a bat embellishment! But anyways, these are the little ones who will be part of Prize Package #2! I'll upload and post these as they get finished. Remember, raffle tickets are still on sale, until tomorrow at noon, so get yours today and these little guys could be yours! :) |

Remember when I said I'd get the prize monsters online for everyone to see by this weekend? I failed. :( Thursday was kind of shot with Jack's surgery and all, and I didn't anticipate him needing me by him as much as possible for the first 24 hours or so (along with the medicating and the feedings). Jack is doing a lot better pain-wise already, and it's so exciting to see him get into his 'regular' activities ('Jacktivities" haha). His check up is on the 8th. I can already see the difference. So yeah. I lost most of two days worth of work, and I'm *still* behind. Pulled an all-nighter and was going to do it again tonight, but I'm a total zombie so I think sleep is required. *but!* I have the monsters here, and they are adorable. Most of them are still naked, but I'm fixing that as soon as I can. Depending on how fast I can go, they should be up tomorrow. :) Man, and my costume wants my time too. Too bad, monsters first.

MoC "Save GoblinJack!" Raffle Prize Packages! Update! Monster Nurses MollyElizabeth (blue) and ClaudiaRose (pink) helping out with GoblinJack. Wow! You guys are out of control! (in a good way!) We far surpassed the 300 ticket mark, and just passed the *400* ticket mark! All right! Looks like you guys are in for some Monsterly excitement! :) Now, instead of just one item in the Grand Prize, the Monster Raffle winner will be able to choose from 3 different Prize Packages! (See? I told you it was exciting!) By next weekend, there will be photos of the packages so you can see exactly what will be included, but until then, I’ll list what the packages will include so you can start planning which one you’ll choose if you win the raffle on Halloween! Here we go! All Prize Packages include the Custom Colored Monsterhead Pillow - *plus* - #1 – Two Big Monsters, in full dress (one boy and one girl) or #2 – One Medium Monster, in full dress; Two Wee Monsters, in full dress (one boy and one girl) or #3 – Two Small Monsters, in full dress; One Wee Monster, in full dress; One Monsterhead PinAll of the packages are relatively equal in value. There is a very good chance that if the raffle ticket sales continue to grow, there will be a special “Monster Surprise” added to the winner’s Prize Package. I can’t tell you what the surprise will be (hence the “surprise” part of it), but I can tell you that it’s something that has not yet been available from the Monster Nursery website. ;) Raffle tickets are only a dollar, and you can buy as many as you want. Each ticket gets a number and goes into the drawing, so the more you do buy,the better your chances are of winning (although, one of the winners from last year only bought one ticket, so you never know!). If you don’t want to be entered into the raffle, but still want to help out GoblinJack, just add a note to your payment, and it will be done. To participate in the MoC/GoblinJack Raffle, click here, or go to www.monster-nursery.com and go to the main page! Please feel free to pass this around to anyone who might be interested! |

He's doing better and stable. I'm able to give him more pain meds for his mouth, and he's able to eat with minimal pain, and sleep more (healing!). If you don't know, GoblinJack was adopted into our monster family in the spring of 2005 from the Seattle ASPCA. When they found him (in a box in an alley! poor thing!), all of his back teeth were so infected that they had to be removed. Now, he is having problems with more of his teeth (stomatitis) and will need to have all or most of them removed. He is in a lot of pain and we are doing what we can to keep him comfortable and fed so he does not lose more weight. He weighed about 13.5lbs when we first got him, and as of last week he was 8.4lbs. I'm trying to keep him from losing any more weight, and being as pain-free as possible before his surgery on the 25th. Jack was prepared to have this same surgery last year, but at the last minute (as in, they were prepping him for anesthesia) they noticed that his heart rate was getting too low and stopped the procedure. They almost certainly saved his life that day. We tried all possible alternative treatments, but he continued to decline. In September, he got a lot worse and we knew the decision we had to make. We were getting him underway with blood tests and such to see where his conditions lay, and what the prognosis would be for surgery. Last week, he ended up having to stay overnight at VCA Animal Hospital in Lynnwood, WA because he was having problems breathing. They did full a cardiology workup on him, and put him in an oxygen chamber. He was able to see the one Animal Cardiology Specialist there that he needed to see before his dental surgery, but GoblinJack's bill for his emergency was over $1k. The surgery itself will be over $1300, and they require payment at pickup. We were prepared for his surgery, but not for the emergency treatment. We are thankful that he was able to get the treatment he needed, but now we're working to make sure the total for the surgery won't be more than we can handle. He started to breathe with problems on Monday, and I was on the phone with all of the doctors and clinics that he had been seen by last week. On a suggestion from his dentist, it looks like we may have stumbled on a major cause for it. Pain. There was a miscommunication in Jack's files and the vet had him on .1mg/ml of pain meds, and he was supposed to be on .3mg/ml. If you are an 8lb cat, that's going to make a huge difference in your pain relief! Once he got the higher dose of it, he started eating more, and is a lot more lovey dovey and more 'himself'. Because of his arrythmic heart, he is still a high risk patient for this mouth surgery, but we can't let him be in this much pain without it. I hope he makes it through, and feel good about the dentist he's seeing, as she's only one of under 100 (IIRC) specially licensed animal dentists in the world. She knows her stuff and is so gentle around Jack. That's most of it as of now. I'll keep updates as they change, and certainly if there is any other word on his status. Also, the Monsters want to thank you for participating in the Raffle, and know that it will help Jack get better and better. Thank you.

This raffle is extra special because all proceeds go to the “Get GoblinJack Better!” fund. As some of you know, our little feline gentleman, GoblinJack, is hurting and waiting for surgery on the 25th.He has some heart problems and has been in the vet hospital and oxygen chambers. And just like with human medical care, it is not without great cost. He is high risk for his surgery as well, but without it, he will not make it very much longer. ( Read More! (and see pix of GoblinJack and Monsterhead Pillows!) ) If you don’t want to be entered into the raffle, but still want to help out GoblinJack, just add a note to your payment, and it will be done.
To participate in the MoC/GoblinJack Raffle, click here, or go to www.monster-nursery.com and go to the main page! Please feel free to pass this around to anyone who might be interested!
(**note: You must register -it's free, quick, and easy!- on Monster Nursery to purchase a Raffle Ticket. We recently switched to a new shop program, so even if you have previously registered before, you'll have to register again. We hope this doesn't cause too much inconvenience! Sorry!)

Hi! RomeoTyrone just dropping in just to post a hello and tell you about the new sport we learned today... FOOTBALL!! Mommy, Uncle Jim and Aunt Aly read that they recently found out where they played the very first Ohio State football game back in the late 1800's. It was against Ohio Wesleyan and OSU won by a touchdown. Anyway, we took a road trip to Delaware (the one that's in Ohio, silly!) and found the field. It's now full of trees and there's no way you can play a game of football there. So after we watched the three of them throwing around a football we begged them to teach us the game. We sat around the football and listened to the rules and divided into teams. Me and EmmaCordelia against IrisSophia, DieterMax and MargaretBelle!
After learning the basics, we ran off to play. I held the ball:
 and Cordelia kicked it:
Iris and Dieter caught it and ran ran ran!

 But...we then tackled them
 It wasn't a pretty sight
So that was our one and only play of the day. It was so warm, Mommy was afraid we'd get over heated. Especially the little ones, Iris and Dieter. So we went and climbed this really weird looking statue.
I saw that it was made in 1976. I asked Mommy if that was the year she was born. She gave me a kiss and said I was darling. *shrug* OK. So, that was our outing today! We got to see something historical! And we learned football! YAY! Get out there and explore your world! (oh yeah, Cordelia and Margaret wanted to make sure I wrote down here that they'll soon update about their exciting outings while we were in Scotland!) |

Hi, everyone! MargaretBelle, EmmaCordelia and I went on a trip to Louisville to visit with some family. While we were there we got to see a really big bat! He was easily 12 feet tall! We were so excited to get our picture taken with a really big bat and send it to girlgoth!! And here it is!
Then as we were heading down the sidewalk, MB got so excited because she found another really big bat! She kept yelling for us to "Hurry! Hurry!" and jumping up and down. When we got around the corner we saw the other really big bat!! It was 120 feet tall! And here it is!
So yay!! Two pictures of two really big bats just for you, Lily! Enjoy! Coming soon, EmmaCordelia's and MargaretBelle's reports from England! And to the rest of our monster cousins out there...get out and explore your world!
