Hey! I'm a new member to the community, blah, blah, blah. =^^= I just got back into Fruits basket, particularly the anime (since I only own the first three volumes of the manga...).

I actually came across the Ritsu shrine a few.... years (?) ago and thought it was wonderful. I'm on a Ritsu sort of high right now. X3 I notice the last post in here was a year ago. .__.

Hmm... well, I suppose I'll act up then. X3

Randomly wrote a drabble, thought I'd share it. ^_^ Enjoy.

Title: Concave Scream
Fandom: Fruits Basket

Genre: Angst
Characters: Ritsu
Warning: None needed.
Summary: It's hard to voice what's on the inside.

I don't really mean to, but I shout a lot. It's the only way I can express my deepest apologies and make them feel worth something. Although, the shouting usually is just means for another round of “I'm sorrys” - not many people approve of my methods.

The real shouting is done in silence. Inside, everything is broken and the demon that is my tainted soul begs for forgiveness. It's the screaming on the inside that compels me to become so spastic when I apologize. It's what's on the inside that tries to escape, only to become lodged in my throat and make me choke on my words again.

I've noticed that this community isn't very active, but I thought I'd introduce myself anyway, with a bit of fanart. I'm Misha, a HUGE fan of cross-dressing men (I heart Kamatari from Rurouni Kenshin...Jakotsu from Inu Yasha...Almost any boy who's pretty and feminine...). Naturally, I adore Ritsu. As some one with little self-cinfidence, I have a particularly soft spot for him. Yay monkey-love!

So I was at Otakon last weekend, where dark_is_the_sex introduced me to Mike McFarland, a.k.a. Ritsu's dub voice. We talked for a few minutes about cons in general, and then he did the Ritsu and Havoc voices for me (because my splint was decorated in FMA stuff and I mentioned the page to him on my Ritsu shrine). He did the Ritsu voice kind of loud and got embarrassed about it. And then he discretely signed my splint (so that no one would think he was signing autographs again). Here it is:

When I first saw Rit-chan in the manga, I felt an instant connection between myself and the lovely Monkey. My friends always tell me, "Don't apologize so much!" and "Stop saying that you're sorry already!" Then, one day, I realized that I do say sorry so very often. But...but I just want to make everyone happy? As fellow Furuba and Ritsu fans, you realize that this is okay, right? Is it wrong for me to like Ritsu, since so many of you like him, too? Okay, here's something you get only if you 1.) run the only extensive character shrine to an obscure character and 2.) bash their English voice actor for months on end (I took down Fun with FUNimation eventually, but I was mad for a really long time):

Yes, that is an autograph from Mike McFarland, Ritsu's English VA. My friend, dark_is_the_sex, met him at a con and mentioned my name, so he jotted down the autograph. He also left the message "tell him I don't blame him" (in response to me not liking the job he did). I'll concede he's a nice guy, but that doesn't mean I have to like how he dubbed him. :P

Hey! Just wanted to introduce myself... I just joined. I was so happy to find this community! I'm really new to Furuba, but I was totally drawn to Ritsu. Normally I'm a bit annoyed by really hyper characters, but something about Ritsu's vulnerability really got to me. =) I found so little fanfiction out there... I'm looking forward to reading back through here to see what kind of goodies I can find...

I'm also curious... does anyone know when Ritsu will show up in the manga again after vol. 8?

Ritsu, Manga-Style!

Finally, after two and a half years of running Monkey Business, I can tell you all with confidence what happens in the Fruits Basket manga involving Ritsu! And away we go!

-After finding out Ritsu is a boy, much emphasis is made on all of the males of the Sohma family being very pretty, but Ritsu being prettier than most. Tohru and Momiji both gush about how "beautiful and energetic" he is. Awww, monkey love. ^_^

-We get to see more of Ritsu's childhood, not just of his parents apologizing for him but him asking Kagura for his first dress. Kagura: "You mean you've been wearing my old dress every day?!" Ritsu: "Yes. May I please have it?"

-Some really cute pictures of monkey-version Ritsu, mostly panicked, are included. I'll scan them someday.

-Ritsu seems suicidal pretty much all through the chapter. Even after the "suicide scene" he dwells on why he shouldn't be allowed to exist and pointedly tells Tohru that if he can't change then it would be better if he weren't alive. Also, Shigure says that Ritsu and his mother suffer from the same neurosis.

-The infamous Mit-chan situation: I'd have to say it looks like a love connection, IMO. Tohru tells Ritsu that the person for him may be someone he's never even met, and upon returning to the house Mit-chan is writing a suicide note to give to her family, causing Tohru to talk her out of committing suicide (sound familiar?). When Ritsu brings in the takoyaki, Shigure tells Mit-chan that the reason he didn't finish his manuscript was because of Ritsu's sudden visit, sending them both into a panic. When they both mention Shigure eating his takoyaki and writing at the same time, they suddenly look at each other and begin discussing "the power of takoyaki", which segues into a really adorable scene of Ritsu and Mit-chan reassuring each other that the situation is not their fault (Ritsu: "If that is the case, then the writer is entirely to blame, not you!" Mit-chan: "Yes, I agree, if he is going to be lazy then he shouldn't be using you as an excuse!") 1...2...3...AWWWW!

Howdy do. It's x-mas now and I was readin some fanfiction. I found one about Ritsu and him kicking some Puchuu butt! Now if you don't know what puchuu's are they are cute little bear looking things with futon beaters :D They are from the anime/manga Excel Saga. I recently moved to Pennsylvania (which is what delayed me getting my tattoo. I should have it after the Holidays), and I visited Stuffingtown, USA (a store like Build-a-Bear) and made a very special adoption:

When I went back up to Maine to visit my family a couple days ago, I took a bus. Ritsu was the center of attention. People should travel with monkeys in pink pajamas more often. ^_~

Well, as this weekend I won't be here (Halloween wedding, yo. Fear the zombie-pirate Kewie. *slurps brains*) I had to go ahead and do my pumpkin today. ^__^ Not that I minded, it was well worth the hours I put into it. (I did it just a touch too small, so I had too many little pieces. XD;)

Um. Hi, everyone. I just joined this morning.

Was at ff.net a moment ago, finally having put time aside to read aguynamedgoo's Surrender. And, um. Please tell me you wrote more of this than the chapter 1 that's posted there? ¬_¬

But speaking of Ritsu-fic, I saw in the older posts that there are a few Ayame/Ritsu fans here. Hajimemashite. Before I climbed into Ayame's head and found I'd gotten stuck so I might as well redecorate, I really liked the idea of this pairing. I still feel it could either turn out to be something very good for both of them, or the worst moving vehicle disaster since the bombings in Barcelona.
Now I'm just rambling, but. I did find an Aya/Ritsu fic a while back, called Radiance, for those interested. It does take into account Ayame's one-sided OTP with Hatori, which I feel is necessary in tackling this pairing.

What brought me here this morning was actually having just referred a few people to Monkey Business in another Furuba comm. In checking the link (for the first time in a few months), I saw this community mentioned, and thought I'd pop on over.
The reason MB came up was because very_rotten and I posted Ritsu-centric drabbles over at 100_fruit this week. If anyone wants to see, mine's called Wallflower. Hers, Born to Shimmer is much, much better than mine, though.

I also see in the old comments that several of you mentioned having played Ritsu in various rps. I enjoy reading that sort of thing when it's available to the web in general. Would any of you care to share links? It doesn't matter if the rps are no longer active - in fact, sometimes that's better.
