    Enjambment
    Sion says:
I need to discuss with you what sort of fonts work for you. Serif or sans serif. Rough edged, polished, carved in marble sort of fonts. That sort of thing
    Neal says:
Well, the simple answer is whatever the hell looks best with the art
    Sion says:
Somehow I knew you were going to say that
    Neal says:
I'm not fancy shmancy, but if the art justifies it, hell
    Neal says:
It's not as complex in that respect
    Sion says:
Okay, well - I'll be paying attention to that as well
    Neal says:
Even the enjambment can be changed to suit the art
    Neal says:
That's the glory of not fearing the structural reaper
    Sion says:
I just did dictionary.com on 'enjambment'. I did not know that word.
    Sion says:
Because seasons don't fear the structural reaper
    Sion says:
Romeo and Juliet are together in structural eternity
    Neal says:
    Heh
    Neal says:
Enjambment is any arbitrary carriage return
    Sion says:
More cowbell is an overuse of enjambment then

    My old, familar friend.
Things have changed for me, and fairly fast. Two weeks ago I was sitting in a physicians office, getting a physical. Now, I'm enrolled in a gym, and starting a nutrition program. If you blinked, you missed the 180.

See, I know I'm in bad shape. Not horrible shape, verge of death shape. Just...bad shape. I'm over weight, and my lifestyle habits, well, suck.

So, in light of this gout non-sense, I decided to go see a gym my doctor recommended. I scheduled a 'Fitness Evaluation'. I showed up after a big lunch, expecting a bit of poking, prodding, a few measurements. What I got was situps, pushups, and a nice treadmill session dressed in business casual clothes. The whole thing cost me $150 big ones to boot. I also got my first exposure to pilates. If Ikea sold bondage equipment, i'm pretty sure it would look exactly like pilates.

I left the gym Friday afternoon beat up, and with my wallet a fair bit lighter. It was like I had been politely mugged for my own good. As I pulled out of the parking lot, I turned on my car's radio, and the soothing soto voiced NPR DJ announced the time, and 'Hope your having pleasant Friday.' I sneered at my radio and muttered a sincere "Fuck you."

Saturday, I showed up for my strength test. Same place, same personal trainer. We went over a series of circuits to hit with certain machines, and he wrote down what I should do exactly. It was grueling in every sense of the word. It forced me to wax nostalgic about my days playing football, with the pain and soreness that always followed. And Christ, am I sore two days later.

I've also signed onto a nutrition program. It was expensive, but they're very through. They'll even help me grocery shop, to make sure I get the right things. I have weigh food now too, which strikes me as tedious. I guess I can't go at this half-assed.

The only real regret is that I can't attend the gym that I got my tests at. It's in another town that's too far away. So today, I signed on at a local gym. I wasn't thrilled about the place, but it's less than 5 miles away, and it's affordable. The other place was less crowded, and just as clean and well kept. I guess I can learn to live with it, liking a gym seems inconsequential to achieving my actual goals, which is to be able to crush a human skull with my bare hands.

what does a depression mean to me?
i rent my home. i own my car. my paltry savings are not tied up in investment plans or 401ks or pension funds.

the only bad thing looming for me is to lose my job.

of course at that point it's all really really bad.

HTC and Google Announce New G1 Phone
I love my HTC Tilt which is why I was curious to see the photos of the new G1 (Android) which Google and HTC are putting out there together.

Are the inline skates accessories or do they come with the phone?

Not quite a Star Wars wedding, but the word "Jedi" appeared in the bride's vows
I went to a wedding today. My nephew got married. They wrote some personal things to share during the vows, and it was awesome. I wish I had written it down, but the bride said something like "I will accept the ways of the jedi, but we won't be naming our firstborn Admiral Akbar." The whole room just erupted during that.

Yeah, I really do like my new niece :D

Is it 1979 all over again already?
Word has just reached me that Robert Plant will be joining Led Zeppelin on a full tour.

    Sion says:
    Tickets will be astronomical

    Sion says:
    But I'm intrigued

    Sion says:
I'd be comparing it to '79 though

    Tamisan says:
yep, better stash some mo money under the mattress

    Tamisan says:
    better lighting now

    Sion says:
    better lighting?

    Tamisan says:
    They'll need it...

    well
um, being part of a company that has international work does have a perk or two.

in this time of people getting laid off due to the bad economy, TPTB in this office, at least, just handed out a little bonus. in cash even.

i'm tucking it away. a little mad cash on hand never hurt anyone.

google books is just about the coolest thing ever. sure project gutenburg has a lot of old books, but the google books project has the actual scanned pages of these old books in pdf format.

    very cool!

do a booksearch on anything and set the search to full preview only, and you end up with lots of 100 year old books on your topic of choice!

I am the world's greatest matchmaker.
1st Spring, 1st Year of Harvest Moon : Tree of Tranquility. Successfully married Jin and Anissa. They got married on the 1st of Summer, but I saw the two events before the 20th of Spring. Yikes, MMV. And whoever else. YIKES. I understand it is a shorter game, but man, couldn't you at least give us like a few more heart events or something to delay it?

    ...

    /sigh

He WAS one of my prospective marriage candidates. If I get stuck with Luke I swear I'm going to rip somebody's arm off.

    The evolving workspace of creativity
I now have the ergonomic and spatial configuration (ESC) that is working for me. I am master of my area with HID (human interface devices dontchyaknow) peripherals, sketch books and mobile phone all within reach. Keyboard and mouse is slid sidelong to my right and graphics tablet rests alternately on my knees or the desk in front of me. When propped on my knees I'm pushed back comfortably in my chair all the way with feet pushed against the side of the desk or just on the bench legs underneath it.

Crank the music up and I'm cooking.

The habit of repeatedly hitting Ctrl+Shift+S as I work through changes has stuck now given the loss of work the other evening. Last night I completed several teabag images to satisfaction that'll accompany the orange peel. The last element of the triptych is the forced perspective of the insert key flying out of the window, and then bringing all three together in the lower frame of the image. This is working for me because I know that as I composite it together I'm going to be able to create at least three variants that should rawk.

The above is taking highest priority that should be done this evening or possibly into tomorrow evening. Then it's the outline for the EoD documentary questions followed by the DnD story arc. Fuck, as with qualifying as a runner for virtue of doing about 2.5 miles each day, I might feel obliged to describe myself as a bona fide artist - a creative commoner - before long.

car troubles have cramped my style for the last fucking time.

ok. i haven't exactly had the money or time or trust in a mechanic to do what i needed to do to the damned car to fix the last of the problems that fucking idiot created by his piss poor job on my suspension before my trip to colorado. the asshole fucked up the front ball joints and the alignment. the ball joints i had redone before the trip. but the second guy didn't think there was a problem with the alignment. stupid fucker that one... and now it suddenly got REALLY bad on the way home, just a mile from home, fortunately.

the luck, he is still with me.

so tomorrow i have to stay home and get this shit dealt with. hopefully i will still have time to take my son to the nanotx convention that i got tickets for us both.

Wait, what month is it again?
Ahhh, my favorite time of year has finally arrived.  Pity it brought Summer Heat Wave with it.  Ugh.   The calendar says October but it feels like August.  But hockey is starting and baseball playoffs are here.  I'm so confused!

Maybe I'll feel better if I had a nice Cinnamon Pumpkin shake.
