This is pretty groovy! I've never seen that episode so I'll have to watch for it or get the I Dream Of Jeannie DVDs :)
I have never seen the rare 'beards' cover of Headquarters either! I'd love to see what it looks like!
Pretty funny that the band members and Tony (Larry Hangman) are wearing some of the Monkees' clothes. I always wondered if the guys got to keep their clothes once the show ended or if they ended up as costumes on other shows.

Wow. In some sort of strange way, that's completely fascinating. Putting all those Monkees albums and "David Jones" in the background were no accident. I wonder why they felt the need to do that??
Thank you for sharing and pointing it all out. You rock :)

Exactly right! Screen Gems was how they got access to all the costumes and such. Also, I can think of several reasons why the albums and stuff were put on there. One, Tommy Boyce and Bobby Hart were there, obviously! And they were two of their main songwriters at the time. (They wrote 'Clarksville', we all know that!) Also, "I Dream of Jeannie" followed "The Monkees" in the Monday night NBC lineup in the 1966-1967 season. (Next season it was "The Man From U.N.C.L.E.) To my calculation, this episode aired the same week on NBC when the Monkees' episode "I Was a 99-lb. Weakling" aired.
Sorry if I'm being a know-it-all again...The Trivia Guru has to keep up in her line of duty, you know!

i remember that episode. bc i noticed the monkees music was playing in the background. but i don't remember seeing the albums on the wall and stuff. but in the picture titled "tommy boyce is ready to play.." that background design behind him was used in the monkees tv show. but then again alot of the sets on this show were also used for the monkees and bewitched.

Here's something you missed |
Even more interesting, in that third picture with Bobby Hart and all the albums, you can see several non-Monkees Colgems records. They include the movie soundtrack lps for "The Professionals", "Murderer's Row", "Casino Royale", "Night of the Generals", as well as a few Colpix lps (Davy and Mike's pre-Monkees label)
Frodis
current mood: energetic
current song: Out and About - Boyce and Hart (It's in my head, anyway.)
Hi, guys! (Or girls, since everyone on here is female, I think...)

A few years ago, I discovered some totally awesome Monkee goodness on the I Dream of Jeannie episode "Jeannie, the Hip Hippie." Not only were Tommy Boyce and Bobby Hart special guests stars in that episode, but...Oh, I'm not gonna ruin the surprise! You have to see for yourself!!!
I finally got "I Dream of Jeannie" Season 3 on DVD, so I made some screencaps of the Monkees stuff in the episode that I spotted. (Along with some groovy Boyce and Hart piccys from the ep!) You gotta check these out!!!!!
Also, be sure to read my little captions on the bottom of each picture for some groovy details!
Please comment and tell me what you think...It makes me feel special:)
Dr. and Amanda Bellows looking through a bunch of records...What could the record she's holding be? "More of the Monkees", no doubt!
And, what could be the next record in the stack??? "Headquarters"! (It's even the rare 'beards' cover!)
Hey, hey, it's Bobby Hart! No need for explaining here, just look to your right and look behind Bobby and you'll see what I mean. Also...take a look at what Bobby is wearing! One of the shirts Peter wore in "One Man Shy!"
It's Bobby again, but take a look at what record he's holding! The funniest thing about this entire scene is that a Jeannie-esque version of that Boyce and Hart written song "Last Train to Clarksville" is playing in the background!
Three of the four band members Jeannie has selected. (With Tommy and Bobby, of course.) The things to look for here are in their clothing. Bobby is wearing Peter's shirt (As was said earlier), Tommy is wearing the same shirt Davy wore in "The Prince and the Paupers" and what Peter wore in the "Valleri" video, but only in green instead of red! Also, the other guy is wearing the mod shirt Peter posed in in "Monkees A La Mode" in brown instead of blue!
The final four of the band! (Too bad they can't sing until Jeannie blinks 'em up some talent!.) Notice that Tommy and Bobby are holding Gretsch guitars. (Like the ones the Monkees play). In this scene, the band performs "Girl, I'm Out to Get You." Earlier in the episode, the song heard on the radio was Boyce and Hart's "Sometimes She's a Little Girl."
The band (With Jeannie replacing 'Bill', the original drummer.) playing "Out and About" for the record producer. Aren't they groovy?
An obvious thing to spot here! It's "David Jones"! (Jonsey's very first album ever!)
Bobby Hart is groovin' away!
Tommy Boyce is ready to play! (Sweet! I'm turning into a bard!)
The four of them play the psychedelic bridge in "Out and About" on violins and cellos that Jeannie graciously blinked up for them! (I love this part, it's so funny!)
Having nothing to do with the rest of the episode, but still fun anyway! Looks like Davy loaned Tony his powder blue beach jacket! If you remember, Davy wore this jacket in a lot of earlier episodes including "Royal Flush", "Success Story", and "Don't Look a Gift Horse In the Mouth."
And, that's all she wrote! ('She' meaning me, of course.)
