Un meet libre ou on se rencontre dans un parc, apporter votre lunch. Ceux qui veulent, peuvent jouer au frisbee (Ultimate!) ou bien jazer, dessiner, comme vous voulez.

20 juillet Au Beach

Tres populaire! On fait rendezvous au plage parc Jean Drapeau, on joue dans l'eau, dans le sable, on brule dans le soleil

10 Aout BBQ/Piscine

Une grande tradition de monfur, tout le monde va chez Loopy.. On mange du BBQ, on joue dans la piscine

??? Waterpark (parc aquatique)

On a aussi pense qu'on peut aller au parc aquatique (Waterpark) comme on a fait il ya quelques annees, mais c'est si loin et dispendieux qu'on va pas suggerer ca comme meet general. Une groupe d'entre nous vont organizer un carpool et aller un jour que ca nous convient tous. Si ca vous interesse, dis-le a Wolffers, Twitchy ou moi

29th June Picnic + Frisbee

Unlike the Melee, a very freeform meet where we gather in a park and have a sort of open-air gathering. Bring a lunch and picnic, and I'll bring frisbees if anybody feels like playing Ultimate or just throwing them around, or folks can sit on the grass and sketch and chat and whatever =)

20 July Beach Meet!

This has been hugely popular in past years. We all get together and go to Jean Drapeau, splash in the water, dig in the sand and burn.

10 August BBQ/Pool Meet

Traditional! Pool Party and BBQ at Loopy's place. Much splashing, eating, sunshine, chatting, some games too if you like

In addition, a bunch of us are gonna get together and go up to the Waterpark and have a day outing if we can find a date and find cars to pool in, but since it's so far away and $$$ we decided not to make it the general monfur meet If you're interested, get in touch with Wolffers, Twitchy or me.

ecomuseum fundraiser

As promised, there would be a way for those who wanted to donate by paypal. Feli has put up a donation button at the bottom of the main page of his website www.darkbunny.ca or as always you can pass me, Twitchy, the donation at any of the brunches or meets. Also just a small update, it's looking like monfur will be able to adopt 2 animals, possibly even 3, so I just thought I would take the time to say a thank you to all those who have donated so far, and I hope that people will continue to support the fundraiser and make it to that third animal.

Last year some of you attended the Ecomuseum meet, so some you already know that they have a program that lets you adopt an animal. The thought was passed around that it might be a neat idea if Monfur adopted an animal. The money from the adoption goes to helping buy supplies for the animal, such as food and goes to the care of the animal adopted. A certificate is also placed on their wall of certificates with Monfur’s name on it.

A fair system has been worked out for the voting of which animal is adopted, in proportion to how much each person donates, so that there is no problems concerning which animal Monfur adopts.

There are over 60 different possible animals we can adopt, divided into 6 different price categories, 15, 25, 50, 100, 150, and 200 dollars. How the voting system works, is that for every 1$ you donate, you get one vote in each of the categories. So you can donate as little as 1$ and still have one pick in each of the categories, and so if you donate for example 2$ you have 2 votes in each category, which you can choose to put on the same animal in each category, or if you can’t decide between 2 animals in a category, then you can choose to put 1 vote on 2 different animals. They are your votes you can choose to do whatever you choose to do with them. However, you can NOT move a vote from one category to another (ex: you don’t see any animals that you like in one of the categories, so you want to place 2 votes instead of 1 in another category, unfortunately, this is not allowed.). Please also note that if you donate something like 1.50$ you will still only get 1 vote. The voting goes by dollars, so as to keep things simpler, though any spare change you are willing to donate is very much appreciated and may aid in getting a higher priced animal in the long run.

When there are no more donations coming in we will tally up all the donations to see which price category we made it to. Then I will count up all the votes in that particular category to see which animal we will be adopting.The winning animal(s) will be announced as soon as the votes are counted. Any extra money from the donations will be donated to the Ecomuseum, as it a non-profit organization, and the money will still go to the care of the animals.

How to give donations, and then vote:

There are a few ways to donate and then vote. The first is to give the donation to Twitchy in person, She is often at the meets, and will be most likely attending every single one of the brunches. She will usually have a separate bag on her for the donations (so that the money is guaranteed not to get mixed up with other money) and will have a list with all the animals so that you can vote as soon as you hand her the money. This is the simplest way. However, not everybody can always make it to the meets or brunches, so there are two other ways. Both are with Paypal. If Paypal is the method you will be donating, please use the buttons below. Once the payment goes through you will be contacted with the list of animals for your votes. If you would prefer to see the list of animals before donating, that is not a problem, and it can be sent by email.

No one HAS to donate, but donations are very much appreciated. Unfortunately, due to trying to keep the voting fair, if you do not donate, you don’t get a vote. There will be no exceptions to this rule. Also keep in mind the more you donate the more say you will have on which animal is adopted.

PROGRAMMING AND EVENTS

We experienced a growth spurt last year at the con so we will be expanding our programming to the
Roman Nose Lodge also. We will be having many of the regular events you have come to love at Oklacon
like the Predator/Prey games, the outside Fursuit games, the Shaving Creamed Pie fight and other activities and lots more new things to do and see.

Melee

Just an addition to the original post. Because we realize that not everybody might be able or want to attend both the brunch and the melee, but those just attending the melee will want to know where to go ahead of time, the restaurant where the brunch is being held will be the meeting point for the melee before we head out for it. Those just attending the melee can meet at the restaurant between 1:30 and 2pm, just come on in cause the rest of us will already be there and it will be pretty hard to miss us. There are plenty of parks suitable for the melee within walking distance of the restaurant and so it will most likely be taking place at one of those, but it is still undecided on. Once again the website for the restaurant is www.piazzagousta.com and we hope to see you guys there. !

So, for our next meet I'm proposing we have our Melee! That's where the mages, clerics, fighters and rogues in our group all mix it up with foam swords and foam spells =)
It's one of our claims to fame, as MonFur does it at cons and the furries just love it!

Yes, this is a reminder for the MonFur Brunch! (first installment)

When is it? This Sunday! Sunday, May 4, 2008, starting around 10:30/11:00am Some of us will be there early so faces are recognisable.

Where is it? La Piazza Gousta. 45, 90th Avenue, LaSalle (at the corner of LaSalle)

How do I get there? Bus: the 110 and the 106 both pass rather close to the restaurant. I suggest using the STM website to pinpoint your best route.
Driving: Again, googlemaps is your best shot for directions, but it's on Lasalle Blvd, across the street from the Couche Tard (hard to miss the Couche Tard). Parking is in the back. (the link has the address already entered)

What is the MonFur Brunch? Well, it is a meeting, on a Sunday, at a restaurant to have breakfast as a group.

This is NOT, I repeat: NOT a furmeet like the ones we have been having. This is a biweekly breakfast/brunch where we can all get together, say hi, catch up, etc... Also it's a chance to have out-of-towners who want to visit to have a set point to meet up with us all.
This is not free, however if all you can do is a cup of coffee you're welcome to come along.
Breakfast will range from about $5 to $15 (and the $15 is after tip, and is a very big meal)

If, after the breakfasts people want to do something, or if there is an actual furmeet scheduled for that day, all the better. But this is just a chance for us all to get together in a social atmosphere.

A few years ago I ran the same fundraiser for the John Abbott Anime Club, and it turned out really well, and we adopted a flying squirrel, and that was with a much smaller group of people. I worked out a fair system for the voting of which animal is adopted, in proportion to how much each person donates, so that there is no problems concerning which animal Monfur adopts.

When there are no more donations coming in (I will probably let it run for a month or two, so as to let everybody have a chance to donate) I will tally up all the donations to see which price category we made it to. Then I will count up all the votes in that particular category to see which animal we will be adopting. I will announce the winning animal as soon as the votes are counted. Any extra money from the donations, as I highly doubt we will land on any of those exact amounts, will be donated to the Ecomuseum, as it a non-profit organization, and the money will still go to the care of the animals.

1st MonFur Breakfast

Hello folks!

Here's the deal: A few of us have tossed this idea around for a while, and we have finally made a few descisions.
We are starting the MonFur Breakfasts.

What is the MonFur Breakfast? Well, it is a meeting, on a Sunday, at a restaurant to have breakfast as a group.
This is NOT, I repeat: NOT a furmeet like the ones we have been having. This is a biweekly breakfast/brunch where we can all get together, say hi, catch up, etc... Also it's a chance to have out-of-towners who want to visit to have a set point to meet up with us all.
This is not free, however if all you can do is a cup of coffee you're welcome to come along.
Breakfast will range from about $5 to $15 (and the $15 is after tip, and is a very big meal)

At the moment, we have chosen a restaurant: La Piazza Gousta This is a 24 hr diner with good food at very reasonable prices. It's not busy like regular breakfast places, and as it's a 24/7 place, they have no problems with groups like ours.
It is on the 110 bus route for those coming by public transit, and there is parking for those driving. A map is available on the website.

If, after the breakfasts people want to do something, or if there is an actual furmeet scheduled for that day, all the better. But this is just a chance for us all to get together in a social atmosphere.

The first breakfast will be held at La Piazza Gousta on Sunday, May 4th, 2008.

Added bonus: Zalika from Ottawa will be attending this first breakfast.

So come one come all! (but please, for this first one, let me know if you will be coming, and if so if you're bringing someone, so I can tell the restaurant ahead of time roughly how large a group to expect.

I want to know who going to Furfright 2008. I try to going at this convention, and I want to find people to probably going at this con with him. I have talking with a couple of my friends about this convention, but the majority of them can't come to this convention with me. So.. if you are going to this convention, and you need people to come with you, please, tell to me. I want to know that to know if I going to Furfright or not this year. The case:

Bucchioni broke into the apartment of Quentin Mohos "quentincoyote" and Iddo Geva "falconieo" and stole all of their games, consoles, hard drives and graphics cards. The theft was EXTREMELY SPECIFIC, Charles knew exactly how to get in, when they would be gone, how long he had, and precisely where everything was hidden.

Bowling Furmeet à Québec

Bonjour à tous!
Je tient a vous avisé que Samedi le 5 Janvier 2008 se tiendra une Bowling Furmeet, ici, à Québec. Cela se déroulerait de 7pm à environ 10pm. L'évènement aura lieux à la Salle de quilles Les Saules (3110 Bvld Masson), tout près du grand Terminus les Saules, ce qui facilite l'accès pour plusieurs d'entre vous. Le cout est de 8,75$ par personnes pour 3 parties, souliers inclus. Ce sont de petites boules et non les grosses. Si vous avez des accessoires tel que queue, oreilles, fursuit complet, etc.. Emportez-les, sa sera amusant. Peut importe si vous ètes fursuiter, artistes ou un simple admirateur des furry, vous ètes la bienvenue. Si vous avez des caméras et des appareils photos, vous ètes libre de filmé et photographié l'évênement. Il est important de nous faire part de votre venu a l'évênement afin de réservé le nombre d'allées nécessaires. **Si vous n'ètes pas de la région de Québec, mais connaisser des gens de cette région, merci de lui passer le mot!!**

Fandom's Favorite Fursuit Fracas

I've had this idea running in my head for the past several months. Now, I want to actually try it out for real so see how it turns out. The only thing that kept me from doing this sooner is the tension among friends it could possibly cause. And everyone who knows me knows I like to avoid conflict and drama at all cost :)

The idea is for a single-elimination tournament to determine who the fandom's favorite fursuit really is. The reason isn't to give one individual constructionist or fursuiter an ego boost. The reason is to get the names out of some suits that are not as well-known, advertise the works of less-known constructionists, and some good ol' friendly competition among friends.

So, beginning Monday, June 4, rhettfoxcoon and myself will start this "Fandom's Favorite Fursuit Fracas." It will be a single-elimination tournament with an UNLIMITED number of entries. On Mondays, several different match-ups will appear on my journal at http://exile17.livejournal.com. Everyone will have the ability to vote for which of the two fursuits paired against each other is their favorite. Voting to go until Wednesday at 11:59PM ET. The same will apply for Thursdays, voting lasting until 11:59PM ET Saturday. On Sundays, the match-ups for the following week will be posted. Once we get into the Round of 16, match-ups will be posted on Monday, and voting will continue til Saturday at 11:59PM ET.

Now, how will be pick which fursuits will be in this competition. We won't. You will.

All it takes is one nomination and a fursuit will be entered into the tournament. Here is how one goes about nominating a fursuit.

First, you can e-mail myself at exile_17(at)yahoo(dot)com or Rhett Foxcoon at rhettfox(at)gmail(dot)com with your nomination(s). (Subject Line: Fursuit Fracas) You may also reply to this entry with your nomination(s). When you nominate a fursuit or fursuits, please provide the following:

- Fursuit Name
- Owner Name
- Made By
- Picture (G-rated, at least 200 width by 100 height, cropping to that size will be very helpful)

Two more things, there is NO LIMIT to how many fursuits you can enter. And if you want to nominate a fursuit that you own, you must nominate at least 4 others first. If you want to nominate two of your own, nominate at least 8 others, and so on.

Partial suits are welcome into this tournament. However, I ask that each suit has the minimum of:

- Head covering almost all of the wearer's
- Hands covering the wearer's hands
- Feet covering the wearer's feet
- The Fursuit may not be a human (no Herbie Huskers)
- No advertising icons, sports mascots, etc.

Finally, if you own a fursuit and would prefer it did not appear in this playoff, you can e-mail myself or Rhett or reply to this entry and opt out of the tournament. However, only fursuit owners can remove their suits from the tournament, makers cannot.

Well, it's that time of year again. The time of year where white-collar workers are the least productive, even though they are drowning themselves in paperwork and brackets. Yes, lady and gentlemen, it's time for the Men's College Basketball Tournament!

Now, before I begin, you don't have to be a sports genius to fill out a tournament bracket. Heck, you don't even have to be a fan of the sports or sports in general to fill one out. Any person in any age group with any interest can take 5 minutes to make predictions involving teams and schools they have never heard of before.

So, here's what I ask of you. Go to the link below this sentence and click.

If you're not signed-in to Yahoo already, go ahead and do so. I decided to use Yahoo because I figure -everybody- has a Yahoo ID, even if they never use it. But, not everyone has a CBS Sportsline or ESPN ID. Am I correct?

On the next page, "Create a New Bracket" should already be selected for you. When you're done filling everything out, click "Submit". I'm sure very few of you will have problems with that last command ;)

On the next page, your bracket should have a status of Incomplete. Look to the left and you will see the name you gave to your bracket, click on it.

From there, fill out your bracket, one region at a time, making sure to click the "Save & Continue" button before continuing to the next region. Once you are done with all 4 regions and the Semis & Finals.

Once you are done, your entire completed bracket will appear.

Click on the name of the group, "Furries!!!", and the status of your bracket should have changed from Incomplete to Complete.

You are done. Now, wait three weeks and brag about kicking my butt at my own game.

Poutine Place in Montreal

I like watching this show called "No Reservations"; it's about a chef named Anthony Bourdain, and he goes to different places in the world, one place per show, to try out new foods of that particular place.

One episode, he went to Quebec, and during the show, he was in Montreal and went to this one restaurant that only specializes in poutine, and various different versions of it (like...chili poutine, or poutine with vegitables on it, or poutine with meat on it, etc etc.) They might have other stuff there too, but as far as I know of, they specialize mostly with poutine (mmm...poutine...)

It looked like a really cool place to go to :) But I have NO idea what the place is called... Does anyone know what it might be? And if so, where abouts it would be located?

Directions:
Metro/bus - get to the D'Iberville station (Blue line, direction St-Michel,
2nd last stop). If you exit the station and see the Couche Tard across the
street, you're at D'Iberville&Jean Talon. Head down D'Iberville opposite the
metro station. If you exit the metro and don't see the Couch-tard, go 2
blocks to your right on Jean Talon until you reach D'Iberville, then turn
right. If you want to walk, it's about a 15 minute walk from the metro. If
you want to bus, the 94 headed south will get you there (5 stops). The 94 is
also available from the Frontenac station.
The 197 also passes the restaurant (available from Rosemont and Langelier
metro stations)

Driving: The easiest way is to take Hwy 40, exit at D'iberville and head
south. The restaurant will be on the right if you follow D'iberville to
Rosemont.

There is parking, but it's limited. Street parking is touch and go in the
area around the restaurant.

My housemate found this dog wandering around Decary
Square, If he's your dog, or looks like a dog you
know, let us know. Also if you would like to adopt him
in the event that we don't find his owners my cat's
would love to know.

Vet guessed his age to be about 1 year
in perfect health
This is NOT a fighting dog! he's friendly, and seems
to think he's allowed on the couch. We have noticed
that he doesn't play well with other dogs of any type.

To anyone who wishes to teach a class or two at Anthrofest, we encourage you to contact

kildoo_lonewolf@videotron.ca. We're trying to gear our programming towards 'furry' themes, so please keep

your suggestions and offers based on this theme. If you're an Artist, Writer, Costumer, or have any other

talent you want to teach on, feel free to offer!

2) Conbook submissions wanted!

Anthrofest will be providing each member a comprehensive guide to the convention, along with a convention

book to remember Anthrofest in that year. We are currently looking for submission for art, and writing.

This year's theme is "Celebrating the Animal in you!" Please, try to make all submissions pertinent to

the theme of the con. We will still accept works that do not fit the theme provided they are more

'general' in nature. All art and writing must be rated PG-13, and once given to Anthrofest, you

understand we can use, copy, modify (for space's sake, mostly), and publish the art or writing with

credit given to you.

The deadline to submit work is July 1st, 2006.

You may submit your items electronically, to conbook@anthrofest.org or check out

http://www.anthrofest.org for our mailing address.

All entries will be entered in a draw, based on the nature of your submission (art, writing). Winners

from each category receive free dinner with the guests of Recognition, Saturday night!
