Her new family just took her, and I am glad I didn't bond with her or I might be sad. I am currently just relieved to be able to poop and shower in solitude. According to Wikipedia, FeLV is viable for 2 hours in dry conditions, 2 days in wet. I should probably go ahead and sanitize the bathroom, but I might just not let Dini in it until Sunday night. And she did test negative after all.

Yaaaay, kitty is going to get a new home tonight or tomorrow morning!!!! Dini is my only baby. When I'm rich, he can have friends. No kittens, though. They are cute, but there is nothing to hug! Dini is the perfect size for hugs.
Also, I got a business lunch. I like when people buy me lunch. I may not be buying what the guy's selling, but I am going to pass on who I think will be a mutually beneficial contact.

T's daughter has a friend who is looking for a kitten. I forwarded pictures.
When I came home, Dini was hissing and charging the bathroom door. I can't take this for a month.
The only other time I've dealt with introducing cats, I was moving in with a boyfriend. They were about the same size and age, and there was much hissing, but after a couple hours watching them with a supersoaker, they were pretty friendly with each other.
I think the mystery is really what is messing with Dini. He really has a sweet, generous nature. Dini makes me feel guilty whenever there are cats outside who are sad. I remember during a storm a few apartments ago, there was a cat crying outside, and Dini was very agitated. He kept going to the front door and staring at me accusingly.

Well, her blood tests are negative, so that is a big relief. The vet recommends retesting at 4 weeks. Also recommends keeping them separated until her mites clear up, which should also be about a month.
I really don't see myself with a kitten in my bathroom for a month. I am slightly reassured, as ear critters are way better than a fatal virus. Which is not completely ruled out.
Want a kitten? She is a supercute purring machine. She is curious and friendly and used her litterbox this morning. She mostly eats and sleeps, as far as I can tell, but if I were being held captive in a bathroom, I'd probably do the same.

So we've just come back from seeing Batman: Dark Knight.
It was excellent. I'm not sure it's up to the hype - but I think that would be pretty hard.
A couple of non-spoiler comments; - If he hadn't died, no one would have made a big deal about Heath Ledger, and I wouldn't have known he was in the film. He is great as the Joker, and at no stage is he "Heath Ledger playing the Joker". - Stunts are fantastic. A couple are more over the top, but still very cool. - It goes on and on and on. Pauline thought it was about to end four times (And it is at 2 1/2 hours there are several points where it could have wrapped up). - I'm interested to know if they're making another one.
For those in America: Yes I know it doesn't open stateside for two more days. Nyer. It does leave me wondering if the moderates on imdb will delete any reviews posted tonight by Australians, as they did for X-Men which was shown here a day before the US.

I feel trashy when I sit down in skirts that feel okay when I'm standing up. (Shut up, guys being guys. I know I have the legs for it, but I really am too old to dress like a hoochie teenage mall rat.) But I feel like skirts that hit below mid patella are frumpy and ridiculous. Either it's an indication that fashion has progressed way beyond Ally McBeal or my sister didn't shop petites when she ordered all this stuff from Boden for me. It does feel really silly to have a flared skirt hit between mid calf and inferior patella. I need to get to the office, though. It's just one day. Maybe I can have the hem taken up a few inches later. None of the shirts have collars (Grr! So much for practical presents!) so it wasn't like she had work clothes in mind anyway. *sigh* I'm glad she had fun, but I'd rather have the money, quite frankly.

I am doing my best to clot my money hemorrhages right now. Opting out of contracts where the service isn't up to snuff, not renewing those that are not helping me, and shopping around on my insurance rates. And I get this email from John McCain. ( Read more... ) So...really? Is foreign trade something that most SMALL businesses really need to worry about? And did I fuck up by expensing my new equipment my first year? I am too small time for any of this to apply, and I am definitely too small time to spend money on a campaign. Tax reform, bah. I am still trying to make enough money to have a taxable income.

want. (picture of finished cookie on the blog is better than the picture of product in the amazon.de link.)
Almost to the point of emailing the German after 3 months of silence and offering a trade of this for Duke's mayonnaise. (He's kinda particular about his mayo. Food of Satan. No wonder he lost interest.)

Dear lazyweb, Good enough to go out in certified mail today?
Having found my contract, I see that concerns regarding the quality of the Company's services are to be sent via certified mail to you. As we have had some issues in the past, which continue to crop up, I must respectfully suggest the termination of my contract, rather than continue another three years. In any case, consider this my written notice that I do not wish for auto-renewal.
I believe that two years ago, your salesperson and I vastly overestimated the appropriateness of an agreement between our two companies. I am a micro-business, and I imagine that your service is accustomed to dealing with much higher volumes of product. For say, a restaurant, having the wrong color of napkins one week isn't really going to inconvenience the business. For a hospital, being short a bundle can easily be made up the next week. For me, while I do my best to accurately estimate my demand, and I appreciate how accommodating you have been as far as periodically changing my minimums, a few sheets can inconvenience me significantly and make up a large percentage of my bill. Less volume requires greater accuracy. This is something we should have taken into account before beginning service.
Given the small volumes, I can bring a few sheets from home and do extra laundry to have what I need for my work week. I do, I think about once a month. I periodically receive sheets that are unusable, like last week, I sent out one that was torn and one that was stained, clearly separated from the rest of my soiled linen. My delivery this week included them as a regular count, and I should not have been charged for them. I could save these all up to return on a slow week to pad my minimum; I could work the system that way. However, given the expense of your service, I shouldn't have to. I think it's a reasonable concern. Week by week, it is a trivial amount of money. Year by year, and looking at it as a percentage, it really is unacceptable.
My gown inventory has gone from 3 to over 10, to 0, and now I think back to 3. The past two weeks, I have received all flat sheets and no fitted. I had a slow June and expected to be able to get this corrected before I'd need more linens. I was wrong. This week, I am sending out 9 fitted sheets and 9 flat, because that is what I had available to use. My minimum is 12 and 1. I don't think I should be charged for 12 if they were not supplied, and I definitely don't think I should be charged for 8 extras. This is something that has happened several times before.
I admire that you have personally addressed my complaints in the past, but I just don't think it's a productive use of energy for me to have to count my laundry and check invoices every week and for you to have to pay attention to a small potatoes account such as myself. I will be documenting what goes in and out for the next two months and will keep you posted via email. I think you will agree that this just doesn't work.
Sincerely, [acugirl]
Too bitchy? Too whiny?

Okay, I'm stunned at my naive stupidity for signing a 5 year contract that is so slanted against me, but what's done is done. Sort of. If I complain via certified mail and things aren't fixed within 30 business days, I can terminate with no penalty. Or pay the $3k and be done with it.
Here's the thing, given that they have 30 days, I think that means I have to send a certified letter every week until there are 6 consecutive weeks of suck, and then I'm home free. Which is, in effect, adding $3 per week to my service charges, since they are very diligent once there are complaints.
They have sucked a lot, but I've never gotten a totally wrong delivery 6 weeks in a row.
I really need out of this laundry contract. I pay entirely too much money for it, and the service, though not 6 weeks running, is inconsistent.
The people on the phones are generally morons. I don't think the driver has any authority over contracts. I do have the general manager's email, and he has come out to see me personally (usually interrupting my dinner) at least once.
Is it worth appealing to the gm as a human being? Tell him that I was a blissfully ignorant newlywed, and I realize I should have gotten my ex to sign a post-nup on my business contracts? (He didn't care if my business was profitable; it made perfect sense to him for me to spend tenfold or more of tax deductible dollars compared to doing laundry at home off of our personal utilities.) From a business standpoint, though why should he care? I wouldn't.

"Did you celebrate the holiday American style?"
Think about that sentence for half a second.
(edit: So you know, I said yes, and then stopped and sort of smirked to myself. It was not a pasty perpetrator, and it was really just kind of funny. One of those Monday morning half awake things.)

Had a few minutes out in the hall after I put in pins and 4 rooms rested. Reading The Order of the Stick had me snickering to myself. Fuck bards, man.
I think I require a canteen and a half of water per day to feel human. I'm almost there, and my headache is finally starting to go away.
My cat likes to use my pillow, and it is awfully cute. I have taken to covering my pillow with a blanket when I'm not on it to reduce the shed factor. Dini is even cuter on a blanket.
