As has been stated in other threads, DVD WORLD, also helmed by Allen Bryce of THE DARK SIDE MAGAZINE, was suspected of similer acts. It is now confirmed.

Palgeriasm from the net is a serious issue, and we must band together regardless of what form of online writing you do to put a stop to this. When one online writer is plagiarized, ALL ONLINE WRITERS ARE to some extent.

Please show your support to help bring an end to this outrage so that the would be plagiarists in training know that if they steal someone else's work without permission or giving credit where credit is do and/or no financial compensation, you will be caught and held accountable. Even if you are not convicted in a court of law, you certainly will answer to it in a court of public opinion:

From Stuart's scans. This really upsets me, as George Reis is one of the nicest people in fandom I know, but he and his website have been particularly hit hard in all this. Here is page 42 from DVD WORLD. (I'm going to find out the date of the issue, but it's probably the most recent one.)

Handsomely designed, and both reviews are the work of DVD DRIVE-IN writers. George Reis wrote the review of THE MYSTERIANS and Casey Scott wrote the review of Retromedia's combined LIANE, JUNGLE GODDESS/TERROR OF THE BLOODHUNTERS.

So that people can see for their own eyes the egregiousness of this all, I'm enlarging the review of THE MYSTERIANS in two parts:

Now go over to George's original review at DVD DRIVE-IN.

There seems to be just one phrase "with spectacular results!" that's original to the uncredited DVD WORLD writer; otherwise, the entire review is cut-and-pasted from the DVD DRIVE-IN site, with deletions to the text due to space considerations. If you take the time to compare, you should be stunned at the blatancy here.

Plagiarism's a serious issue but, intending no disrespect, I don't imagine an online "court of public opinion" will worry these hacks in the least; nor will hate mail. The people involved need to get solicitors to at least send them a letter to get anywhere at all.

As I stated in another forum, the business of fandom relies on reputation to survive, since it is fans within that genre that keep 'em in business. When allegations of thievery of this magnitude get spread around, quite a few people become reluctant to give their support. Im not saying everyone will quit buying The Dark Side or DVD World, but when word spreads out of their practices, they will definitely feel a financial hit as they lose regular buyers and subscribers (which is already happening),

Besides, I think, at the very least, DVD World has dug its own grave. It is now being reported that they also used reviews from The New York Times as well as from The BBC.com We are just waiting on confirmation on what we suspect. That those were unauthorized usages as well. If our suspicions turn out to be true with New York Times and BBC, that means this is now being taken to a whole new level.
