How is singing in French easier than speaking it? I can hardly recite poesy even in it, feels really awkward. ;-)

Because you learn one song at a time and spend a lot of time on annunciation where as in speaking you learn a lot at a time...

Yeah, there is that. Thinking on your feet when you speak is definitely harder.

That's an interesting one.

1 - English and French, and read in German
2 - Spanish, so that I could go almost everywhere in the world and be granted the slightest bit of linguistical security.
3 - To swear in it, of course. Since not many would understand :-P
4 - I'd love to
5 - I have never exactly caught myself babbling, but it is possible.

1. German, French, Dutch, and I used to speak Spanish. I've also sung in Portuguese, Latin, Hebrew and Russian.
2. I really want to learn Mandarin and Arabic. In August, I'll start to learn Czech.
3. In Dutch, "Dat is de bedoeling." (As it should be!) In French, "enterrement du ville de garçons" (bachelor's party; literally, burial in the city of boys). In German, there are many many many words I really like.
4. My facility with language lies mostly in grammar, reading and writing, so I might pursue translation as a moonlighting spot.
5. I babble whether I'm nervous or not!

1) What languages can you speak other than your native language?
A very, very small amount of French. I can read it better. Well, I say read - I can get the general gist of it!

2) Which languages would you like to learn?
I want to learn Welsh. I wish I'd paid more attention in school!
I REALLY want to learn Latin.

3) What is your favorite thing to say in another language?
Nothing really. :/

4) Could you be an interpreter at the United Nations?
Haha, no! Be good fun though!

5) When you get nervous, do you babble?
Yes, a lot!

1) What languages can you speak other than your native language? I can speak very small amounts of French and Spanish. Although I read both better than I speak them. Which isn't saying much.
2) Which languages would you like to learn? I would really like to just finish learning French. And maybe take some Italian.
3) What is your favorite thing to say in another language? Es no hay problema. I stick random words into my conversation, although I've stopped doing it as much now that I spend so much time around international exchange students who actually use the words in their native language, because I figure it probably sounds a little stupid to them.
4) Could you be an interpreter at the United Nations? With my current skills, absolutely not. Although I do think it'd be a cool job.
5) When you get nervous, do you babble? I don't babble so much as switch the first letters of the first two or three words in a sentence around. I don't know why I do it, and it's really annoying.

might as well answer my own questions :)

1) I can say some phrases in German and like to throw them into causual conversation. I've taught my family to answer me when I ask them what time it is in German. I took German for two years in high school because I knew I'd be doing family history stuff and my ancestors are from Germany.

2) I'd like to learn German better and probably Spanish wouldn't be a bad one to get to know.

3) "Ich habe keine Idea." (I have no idea). "Wohin damit?" (where do I put this? - I say only because it sounds like I'm swearing)

4) I'm not good under pressure. The UN should pass on my resume.

5) I babble when I get amped. I also inadvertently get toungue tied and try to put two words together that mean the same thing. Often I call my lawn or yard a lard.

1) What languages can you speak other than your native language? I used to be able to speak French quite well. I haven't used it in so long it's gradually fading away though.

2) Which languages would you like to learn? Italian. Or something fun and harsh sounding like Russian.

3) What is your favorite thing to say in another language? If you absolutely must say something sappy, it almost always sounds better in French. I also like to say "seal" in French, because I'm immature :D

4) Could you be an interpreter at the United Nations? No, I like my jobs to be as stress-free as possible thank you very much!

5) When you get nervous, do you babble? Yes, but only if I'm in a situation that forces me to speak, such as job interview or public speaking. Otherwise I'm much more likely to clam up when nervous.

1) What languages can you speak other than your native language?
I can fumble my way through Italian and Spanish, but I wouldn't necessarily say I can "speak" them.

2) Which languages would you like to learn?
I'd love to learn Cantonese so I can know what the kids & old ladies on the bus are talking about.

3) What is your favorite thing to say in another language?
Che c'e' di nuovo? ("What's up?" But literally it's "what is there that's new?")

4) Could you be an interpreter at the United Nations?
Ha ha ha ha ha NO.

5) When you get nervous, do you babble?
Yes.
