The truth behind Wronkled & call for contributors!
So, as many of you might've seen in my journal or [info]cambler's post here Wednesday, some friends (mainly the staff from Model Insider) & I launched a satirical website called "Wronkled Magazine" as an April Fool's Day joke.

We were overwhelmed by the positive response and all the contributions from people who saw & read it. We've decided that as long as people are reading & laughing we're going to keep it running as an "Onion" style look at the whacky world of online modeling & photography and we'd like YOUR help.

There're a couple of things you folks can do to help if you enjoy it. First, read "Wronkled"! We're tracking usage & as long as people are reading we'll keep going. Second, we need contributors... if you have photos, cartoons (illustrations), videos, or stories you'd like to submit send them in to info@wronkled.com. third, TELL YOUR FRIENDS... we need readers, so DIGG it and Delicious it and blog about it. Fourth, if you're on DeviantArt visit my DA news article about it and Fave the article so it stays visible in the rankings.

BTW, due to popular demand we launched a Cafe Press store with Wronkled clothes & stuff, and some contributors might receive free Wronkled clothes. :)

Regardless of whether you choose to help or participate in any other way we hope you enjoy Wronkled. Whether you're part of the internet model/photographer community or not there's plenty to laugh at.

    Wronkled Magazine
As some of you know, I've been interested in starting a magazine for quite some time now. It's really always been a dream of mine. With the economy as it is, though, I thought I'd have to put that dream aside, at least for another couple years.

Well, as it turns out, I got lucky last month when a new startup found me and asked me to come on board as editor in chief. We launched today.

    http://www.Wronkled.com

We're really proud of our vision to be the premiere magazine for the Internet modeling and photography industry and hope that this will be the start of something big!

    And yes, we're hiring!

    Still can't stop laughing
As much as I think Cafe Press is cheesy, one must acknowledge that they offer a service when you just don't have the time to do a full shirt print run, handle orders, shipping and the like. And when you have customers literally yelling at you to just make the f'ing shirt already, they do come in handy.

This is the shirt with the slogan that the nude models on Model Insider keep saying they want. So hell, I'll give it to them.

I hope it brings a smile to your face :-)

Last chance for free VIP at Model Insider!!!
    Happy Valentine’s Day all!

I’m posting this because we’re almost ready for a full public launch at Model Insider!!! Anyone who joins before midnight PST on Valentine’s day gets free permanent VIP status, with extra photos & galleries as well as other privileges. The site will ALWAYS have free membership, but we’ll roll out some paid access specials… early adopters will get access to those. So for those of you who aren’t members yet this’s the time to join! Get in while the site’s small and have all the privileges when it grows.

PLUS!!!!!!!! As those who’ve already joined know we’re hosting photo contests. Besides the daily contests we have two themed Valentine’s contests (one 18+, one not) with REAL PRIZES. All our contests will start giving prizes out as the site gets going.

If you’re a Florida CAPErs photographer or model please read all the way down for big news!

Quick recap: Last month Chris Ambler, Craig Seay, and I launched Model Insider, a new model-photographer (and related professions like MUAs) networking site. We’ve been slowly bringing people on board as we test out the site, add features, and fix bugs. We’re trying to offer features that none of the other sites out there have (like THE most advanced classifieds systems with things like integrated casting calls & travel notices, smart travel notices that don’t hit everyone in a state when you’re only going to part of it, “tour” features for people who’re traveling, etc) and that a lot of people have been asking for. We’re responsive to our members and we add requested features as fast as possible.

For those of you who came onboard last month when we started, if you looked around and haven’t been back please take another look. We’ve improved the graphics layout & the navigation between the forums & portfolios. We’ve added in a TON of new features, with more coming. Some major editions: We’ve started creating specialty lounges, areas where people with specific knowledge can answer questions and share what they know. So far we have a pro fashion/commercial forum hosted by Roger Talley/TxPhotog (author of http://www.newmodels.com), an alt model/photography area co-managed b Engel Schrei and Eric Tragedy/Fotografia Fantastique, and a nude modeling area run by Iona Lynn/Mariah Carle. We’ll be adding more of these. We’re also establishing a fantastic list of members who’re willing to act as resources to one another for things like mentorships. The site now has short links to your profile and soon you’ll be able to change it to your name.

So I would encourage all of you to sign up if you haven’t, and to come back & look around and kick the tires if you have. It won’t take anything but a few minutes of your time. Best case, the site takes off and you have free super status. Worst case, the site doesn’t suit your needs and you’ve wasted 3 minutes. If you like what you see please tell your friends… we’ve added a “who referred me” field to the sign up form, and we’re working out some prizes for whomever has the most referrals for sign-ups (NO need to fill my name out, I don’t get prizes LOL). Just let them know about the Valentine’s deadline!

*NOTE FOR Florida CAPErs members: The second caper is in ONE MONTH, and MI is an official sponsor. We’ll be having prizes & giveaways sponsored by MI at the event. Look for the CAPErs announcement in your mailbox this weekend. Hopefully MI will be taking part in events all over the US!

Please do keep in mind the site’s still under construction, so if you sign up & find a bug PLEASE let us know here: http://www.modelinsider.com/forum/index.php?f=13&sid=617dc1d8d1754642a170744b61d1af59&rb_v=viewforum

If you have any ideas to make the site BETTER please let us know here: http://www.modelinsider.com/forum/index.php?f=18&sid=617dc1d8d1754642a170744b61d1af59&rb_v=viewforum

The number one complaint is site speed, it’s a bit slow because it’s running in full debug mode with no cache (Chris told me that, don’t ask me what it means), but we’re approaching full launch and when we’re ready it will BLAZE.

Side note, if you're one of the folks who got multiple e-mails about this from me last night I am VERY sorry. My mail server had a fit with my outlook connection and kept telling me my mail couldn't be sent. Apparently some people got my notice 4 or 5 times and I apologize.

Thanks! (Mods, I didn't see a rule against posting this, please delete it if it's an issue.)

    Photo Contest
I am working with a few others to stand up a new web site, Model Insider. We're attempting to build, over the next few months, a site that addresses all of the issues and wishlists that we have with other sites (with the acknowledgment that we love many of the other sites out there - we just wanted to give a shot at doing things differently). For the past few years, many have said, "Hey, if you think you can do better, why don't you?" ... so we are. ;)

To help spread the word, we've launched our first contest while we're doing the fit-and-finish on the site, and we'll be giving away some prizes. Our plan is to have such prize-awarding contests on (at least) a monthly basis.

We invite photographers, models and others in our Internet industry to sign up, check out the site and the forums, and enjoy.

    New site option
Hey folks, there's a detailed post in my journal about a new site that's under construction and offering additional options for models & photographers looking to network.
With MM's issues it might be a good thing to have a backup, and if any of you participated in the Pic of the Day 18+ contest, it's moving there.

I don't want to bog the community down with the huge post, if you're interested it's in my journal here:
    http://slephoto.livejournal.com/14138.html

Mods, if there's an issue with me promoting it here please feel free to nuke this post. I won't be doing this again. :-)

    Chicago-area steampunks/cybergoths
I'm in the process of putting together a photo shoot and am seeking a few models who are willing to volunteer to pose for the shoot in full steampunk/cybergoth gear. I can offer you a CD of your photos in exchange but alas, nothing else. (I just want to be up front about that.)

The shoot will take place on a weekend day sometime in the spring/summer when weather permits...location yet to be determined but somewhere in the greater Chicagoland area.

    Comment if interested. Thanks! :)

    Sorta new to the scene
I've had my MM account for almost two years now, but really havn't gotten all that into it until very recently. Here is a little something Etaru and I did this past weekend up in the snowy hills of Middleofnowhere, Montana.

I have some other stuff up too, so please let me know what you think for just starting out!

    AmblerPhoto Model: Alecia
Over the next few months, I will be creating a portfolio page for most of the models with whom I've had the pleasure of working, to show a little more of my work with them. This will include both old material as well as the recent stuff. Indeed, some older shots that I might not normally showcase will get some love for sentimental reasons. I'll also be talking a bit both here as well as my photo blog on AmblerPhoto.com.

Alecia answered the call for KISW's Radio Vixens in 2006, and we spent the afternoon shooting in the now-famous studio window and freight elevator, both the PG-13 shots for the radio station as well as some less-tame shots both for portfolio work as well as a few frames for Revelation. About a year later, I invited Alecia out to the Preston Mill to get images of her for Run of the Mill. Alecia has since moved to a warmer climate, but I do hope she returns to visit some time and gives me another shoot!

Little-known trivia: one of my assistants has a mad crush on Alecia :-)

Three images, not necessarily work safe )

See more of Alecia's Gallery, or all models, as added, at Models.AmblerPhoto.com
