Doornail and Dirt
So... two of my classmates had an interesting adventure this week. We'll call them doornail and dirt - two things that are surely smarter than either of them.

Doornail has no driver liscence.
Dirt does.

So, Dirt takes Doornail to a parkinglot where they proceed to drive around until Doornail can follow commands fairly quickly and "has the hang of" this driving thing.

They then go out on the road where Doornail promptly drives off the road into the ditch.

This might be an appropriate place in the story to mention: Doornail is completely BLIND!

It's exceedingly rare for someone to be COMPLETELY blind. Most people who are blind have at least some light perception, if not shape recognition.

There was a movie in the 80's caled "If You Could See What I Hear," which was about a guy who had been blind from early childhood, and yes, one of his friends taught him to drive. There was a scene following that which showed a baffled policeman talking to his friend:

Cop: If he's blind, then why was he driving?
Friend: Because he's the only one who's sober.

He was great! He wrote in after Clarkson insulted someone's performance by saying "A blind guy could do better than that!" saying "I'm a blind guy and *I* bet I could do better than that!"

He did, too. And the terrified expression on Jezza's face as he gave directions was fantastic!

To be fair, the blind guy had learnt to drive before becoming blind...

I am now reminded of that scene in Sneakers where the blind guy (Whistler, since he could whistle the routing codes and get free long distance) is being given instructions by radio by the main character (Robert Redford?) on driving the van across a parking lot to thwart Ben Kingsley.
