Hey guys, I've got a quick question about sculpy.

I've used it before and followed the cooking directions and glued the piece onto my pony, but I recently made a Harley Quinn pony and the ear-pieces came out funny since the ear was only glued on. (hope i'm not being to complicated)

Question is, (and it may sound stupid so I apologize) am I supposed to bake the sculpy all ready on the pony? Like put the pony in the oven with the sculpy on it?

thanks for your time guys, and i'm sorry if it's such a silly question.

Hello! I don't normally advertise on other communities, but we're having a dearth of entries for this month's pony art exchange. It's a neat community where whoever enters the monthly round will make art of another members pony and recieve art by another member in return. You are welcome to customize a pony if you don't want to draw one! Check it out here, sign-ups have been extended through Sunday.

http://community.livejournal.com/mlp_artxchange/118267.html

thanks!
Open for commissions

Just letting people know that I'm open for commissions. My costuming and plush making business has been a little slow lately, so I'm looking to drum up extra business. Prices start at $20, and range up. Sculpting a specialty! Kirins a particular specialty. Most commissions tend to be around $50 for basic sculpting stuff.

My pony gallery is here: http://www.sparkcostumes.com/gallery/thumbnails.php?album=23
My main gallery is here: http://www.sparkcostumes.com/gallery if you want to look at the plushes and costumes and things. :)

I also am taking commissions for custom plushes, including custom pony personas. Just comment or drop me an e-mail at spark.costumes@gmail.com if you're interested.

Customized Pony figure!

This was a 'fakie' baby My Little Pony (cheap imitation, taken from a real MLP mold), customized by me. I repainted her entirely, black with a skull and crossbones symbol & with grey eyes and red eyeshadow. I then gave her an all new mane and tail, stripes of grey, red, and black doll hair.

I will sell (or trade) her if I get the right offer, but otherwise I'm perfectly content to keep her.

x-posted

I am trying to use Dylon dye, it was the one I grabbed, I didn't know if the dye had to be Rit. Well, my pony is just not taking to the color. I'm not sure what to do. I plan to buy Rit dye while I'm out tomorrow. Does anyone know why the Dylon just isn't working for me? Or maybe it's the pony I'm using... :/

"Relay"s repaint is inspired by the American Cancer Society's Relay For Life. A grand total of 50% of what I make from selling this OOAK Custom will be donated to the ACS. "Relay" is dedicated to everyone who has been touched by cancer, in any form. She is especially dedicated to the memory of my cousin, who recently lost his battle with cancer.

Custom painted with purple, silver, white, and glow-in-the-dark paint, "Relay" sports a short mane (new growth, "Relay" is a survivor) and long tail re-haired from CustomPony.com's Eggplant Nylon Hair. "Relay's" symbol is that of a stylized moon with dotted stars. The moon is outlined with glow-in-the-dark paint, while some of the stars have glow-in-the-dark paint as well.

Hey, there all. I'm totally into MLP, but very, very new to collecting and customizing. I was just gifted with my very first pony today, a second edition Sunny Daze my friends found in a box while walking.

She's in pretty good condition, and, from what I've read, she isn't very uncommon, but I was a bit wary and decided to ask people who would probably know for sure.

So, is she safe custom bait? If not, she can very easily be restored.

This guy was made as part of a Valentine's Fandom "Card" Exchange. I say "card", because when I got my exchange partner, it turned out that I knew them, and I laughed hysterically as my idea snowballed and became much more than a Valentine's card. The backstory behind this custom is long as twisty, so lets just say that I knew that they would love to get a zonkey for Valentine's, and so steamrollered ahead and did it ^_^

So, meet Assay the zonkey:

He travelled to his new home in his own very special livestock box:

With his accompanying card:

Just in time for February! Mommy was done first, and then when a baity baby Blossom came my way, she begged me to be made up to look like Mommy. I love pearlies and always wondered why we never saw pearly adults, so I gave her a pearly coat after the gradient was done.

Her eye color was perfectly matched, and her hair came out nicely as well! Their symbols are made of vintage rhinestone buttons. They are very unique and date back to the '70s - its actually quite rare to fine vintage buttons with colored rhinestones. Both mommy and baby sport their symbols on both sides. For all the amythyst lovers out there, these two pay tribute! :)

Mommy and Baby are for sale,

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=110216494086&ssPageName=STRK:MESE:IT&ih=001

Many, many customs!

I've been laaaaazy and haven't been posting my customs as I finished them. I'm fixing that tonight!

In September, the My Little Pony Trading Post had a custom contest. The rules were to go to a random pony name generator and make a custom from the name you go. I was given the name Blue Bee and this little breezie immediately leapt into being in my head.

Blue Bee was made from a breezie and rehaired with stripes of After Midnight and Bobby Blue nylon Dollyhair. Her antennae were painted blue as were her eyes. Her fabric wings were replaced by irridescent insect wings made of Fantasy Film. Finally, she was given a cute bee in shades of blue, completing her theme of blue, blue, and more blue.

The fall of 2007 was the season of custom swaps for me. There were so many fun ones that I couldn't resist joining. One of these was the breeding swap, where people chose two ponies they wanted to have an offspring, and their partner imagined and created what the two ponies' genes would combine as. My partner picked Moonstone and Star Hopper as her two ponies and so Moonhopper was born.

Moonhopper was made from a Baby Glory. She was repainted in a vibrant blue-green color inspired by Star Hopper's body. Her eyes were painted in magenta, a color inherited from her father, Moonstone. She was given hair in Watermelon, Golden Delicous, Lucky Clover, and Bobby Blue from Dollyhair, the colors reminiscent of both Moonstone and the store version of Star Hopper. Finally, her symbol was a combination of both parents', the UFO from Star Hopper surrounded by the glittery stars of Moonstone.

There is much more to the Harry Potter universe that shows up in the seven books. Some of this extra material shows up in Fantastic Creatures and Where to Find Them, written by J.K. Rowling for charity. This describes many of the monsters in Harry Potter's world, both those described in the main series as well as others. One of the others is the Augery, also known as the Irish Phoenix. It's a sad, vulture-ish looking green-black bird whose call was long thought to signify the death of the listener. Later wizards finally realized that it just foretold a rainstorm.

I joined the Arena's Harry Potter swap in the fall of 2007. My partner listed the Augery as one of her favorites, and as I had thought that was a good idea for a custom while flipping through the book, I decided to go for it. Augery was made from a very baity Flowerburst. He was given a full-body repaint in very dark green, then I sculpted on his beak and eyes. I drybrushed black onto his head, neck, and lower legs, then gave them all a wash of the same dark green that was his color base. Finally, he was rolled in green feathers and given a stiff, feathery tail.

Hilariously, my partner also made me an augery pony.

One of the sweetest people in the world is a well known member of the pony community, KarRedRoses. Her favorite pony is G1 Red Roses, and after all the nice things she's done for me, I wanted to do something for her in return. I decided to make her a Ponyville chibi Red Roses.

Red Roses was made from a chibi, obviously, though I cannot remember which. Her hair was already pink, but it was too dark, so I painted over it. I then painted her eyes the same pink and added her symbol of a spraying perfume bottle. Finally, I sculpted her a small horn, as no unicorn chibis had been released when I started, attached it, and painted it as close a match to her body color as I could get. She ended up making it to KarRedRoses right around Christmas, which made me even happier about the whole thing.

Hasbro started coming out with Ponyville ponies in 2006, very small ponies completely molded in plastic. Also known as chibis, they proved a hit among children and customizers alike. I resisted them for a while, but finally seeing a customized one in person broke down the walls and I had to customize some of my own. Yum Yum was the first started, though the second completed. She's inspired by G1 Twice-as-Fancy Yum Yum, one of my favorite ponies despite her pinkness.

Yum Yum was made from a Bay Breeze. Her base hair color was perfect, but unfortunately, she had other stripes of color painted on. I tried, but failed at being able to get all of the thick paint removed from all the cracks and crevices. Thus, I repainted her hair in the appropriate pink. I painted her eyes lavender to match the original Yum Yum's. Then came the fun part-painting tiny pieces of candy all over her body. Finally, I gave her feathered wings made out of pink Fantasy Film for a look reminiscent of the original pegasus while giving the chibi version a uniqueness all her own.

~~~~~G3 Custom: Blue Avalonia ~~~~~~~~~
On Ebay starting at $5 shipped!
Blue Avalonia came to me as an unfinished custom, she was a Minty with ink spots who had already been rehaired in these BEAUTIFUL shades of minty green and dark blue. I didnt have a specific idea for her in mind, but with her beautifully shaded hair, I knew I wanted to do something abstract with her to show it off.
She received a dye bath in a denim blue and it worked quite well, since her green color didnt have to absorb much. I then proceeded to decorate her with swarkovski crystals, and gave her blue 'stockings a pearly coat for some extra shine.
A very interesting, unique custom, she resprents the abstract that is pony love! :)
Her Ebay link! :)
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=110209911190&ssPageName=STRK:MESE:IT&ih=001
I have a newb question. I have just done my first customs and both turned out wonderfully, I am really excited... except I used modeling paint on their bum designs and they are still tacky. Any suggestions on what I should coat them in to make sure they dry and stay properly? Thanks! (I will post pictures eventually, though they are both very custom to the interests of their future owners and may not make sense to everyone else in the world).
hi all, my first customs in ages!
They are (slightly late) Christmas presents for a friend's nieces Abby and Evy (hence the letters on them.)
More pics at my flickr page
These were quite tough going, not rehaired anything since back in February and had forgotten it is quite hard on the hands.. So I shall probably continue with mostly knitting projects for the timebeing, but I still have a set of customs to finish, so watch this space!
TTT
