Things and stuff.
  • First of all -- Hoooooooorrrrns!!! Whoo!!!

    Right, then.

  • I would like to thank the makers of SGA for wee spoiler for The Lost Tribe... )

I don't know how they did it, but here's hoping they do it again real soon.

  • Body of Lies, big shocker, is effing awesome. Ridley Scott is a genius. That Russell Crowe guy isn't bad, either.

  • [info]reytheist recently discovered Flight of the Conchords. Unfortunately it's on HBO, but the first season is out on DVD. It's about a two-man band from New Zealand, living in New York, and it is 'ucking hilarious.

  • Some WoWness -- I made a toon on the Moonrunner server to play with my peeps from CO. She's all growed up now, and she is one scary cow. )

    It's been a while, hasn't it?
And I don't even have all that much to tell...

Work proceeds apace. I get the impression people are quite satisfied with me, but with the current situation, it's still not certain I'll get an extension on my contract.

The orchestra I play in will be taking part in a competition in a week. This means that for the past month, there has been a lot of extra rehearsals. This is fun in its own way, but it's also exhausting, and it doesn't leave me much time to myself.

Despite that, some remarks on some TV shows (not really all that spoilery, cut for length reasons):
    Life on Mars US )

    Heroes )

    Merlin )

And finally, I've still been writing. I may have mentioned this before, but I was struck by a Blood Plus plotbunny. I'm currently 11.000 words in and still not finished, but I'd love to have someone look at it and tell me whether it sucks or not. Anyone interested?

Words could never make me stay
*fans self* Holy mother of God. Andrea & I were sitting here talking about Newark and we went back to cross-reference something in her LJ post. Found this, which I apparently had blocked out of EXISTENCE. Why, I don't know. Too much hotness? Perhaps. Good God. I miss Newark. Still my favorite Billie Jean. Best I've ever heard. But then, I'm RATHER partial to 3:26. Start at 3:20 people. Seriously. SERIOUSLY. Good in HEAVEN. *gnaws on rawhide*

    I miss him. So much.

    Adopt one today!

I've named 'him' Mahlon, but only afterwards did I realize he could actually be a she. Oooops.

    Adopt one today!

This little white one needs clicks or views like a mad thing. It's only got 1.97 days to hatch and it's showing no signs of anything. I worry about it.

This week's gonna be a tough one...

That's right, folks.  Three midterms in one week.  Oh, and did I mention that two of them are back to back Monday morning?  I suppose that's what I get for having the same professor for Prisons & Prisoners and Intro to Criminal Justice.  (Police midterm is Thursday.)

In other news, going home for Yom Kippur was so worth it.  It was really nice to go to services with my family, and I even got to go out for ice cream with my best friend in the whole wide world, [info]irish_smurf, after the holiday had officially ended.  (She's coming up to visit me on the 21st - I'm so excited.  We're gonna have such a great time together.)

Other than that, there's not much going on here.  I'm studying for midterms and have the apartment to myself until tomorrow night.  Perfect studying atmosphere...if I can just concentrate, lol.

    H&Ks,
    Sarah

    Thanks!
Thank you everyone for your good wishes about my new job. I can't tell you how happy I am to finally quit Starbucks, after over three years working there it's time to go. I will miss the people, but not the actual job. My new job is customer service for an ad agency and I'm really looking forward to it. It's Monday to Friday, 9-5 and no shift work!!! It's a big step for me and of course I'm nervous, but it also feels good. I can also wear what I want (within reason) which is nice. When I had my interview everyone was super nice and it was a really relaxed atmosphere. They're a really small company and everyone seems like one big nice family. :) One of the guys also brings his Jack Russell, Lucy in. She's very sweet.

When I gave my two weeks notice yesterday everyone was really happy for me. Even the district manager phoned me up and told me that she wishes me the best and said that if I ever want to go back I'm more than welcome. That was nice to hear.

Tomorrow mum and I are going down to my aunts for Thanksgiving dinner. It'll be nice to see everyone and I know Grandma will be happy, we haven't seen her since the summer. Then on Monday mum's making a small Thanksgiving dinner with the turkey she bought for last Christmas. Yay turkey dinner!

    + & -

Neg:  slightly annoyed with the leaseing office.  Tried to pick up packages, sat there for 20 mins until the security guard came back.  Found out they left @ 2, they're supposed to be open til 4!

Pos: I'm pretty sure one of the packages is the Lifemate's B-day present

Pos: I'm actually cooking dinner tonight.  I have a turkey breast in the oven as we speak

Neg: my wrist hurts from wrestling with the frozen turkey (I had to remove the gravy pack)

Pos: My group got a 94 on our INA assignment

Neg: some of the comments were odd b/c he was telling us we didn't do XYZ when the assignment said don't include XYZ, unless we read the assignment wrong

Pos: I finished my weekly questions yesterday & my book review (minus editing) so I don't have to worry about it on Sunday

Neg: I have to go to a viewing on Sunday

Pos: I'll be giving Nicole her pink pot back, and seeing Ande, Lisa, Holly, and maybe the lifemate

Pos: when I was walking back from the market there was a girl walking a pretty dog.  and I got doggie kisses!  Now I miss my little monster pup

Neg: SGA last night pretty much killed my favorite ship.  At least the actors looked pretty doing it.

Pos: re: SGA... technically Sheppard didn't blow up the city while Woosley (sp?) was gone...he only blew up the Gate and it wasn't his fault!  Technically it was Rodneys!!

    Blah
I'm back after getting my stuff and driving for far too long and way too tired and seriously over emotional *rolls eyes*.

Probably best that I don't post tonight as I'd be a complete wreck - other than to say it was not exactly a fun day and I now feel wierd, sore and look like a panda *sighs*

    oyyyy
This new job isnt going to last long .They are super corrupt, and want me to do some under the table things ,which i will not do .I wont jeopardize my license for any reason .
Know how much i make them a week..?
    About 8500++....
so i sat there thinking ,WHY do i do this shit, and THEY get all the money and i get a shitty paycheck ?
    WHY ?

I am so used to getting a paychech with the taxes taken out and no headahces of my own to worry about, that i am slightly afraid to be my own boss .
Old habits die hard..but i am sick of this shit .

So i am thinking of just staying there a while, and getting some money to fix up my house, and then set up myself up to be an insurance provider ,as that is a pain in the ASS ...its why most acupuncturists do not do it.
..but ...setting it up ,and just start doing it myself at home .

As i take only cash patients ,and with todays economy ,a lot of peeps wont just pay unless they really know they need the acu for something grave.
Its why i have so few patients .

But I have had 2 cancer patients go into remission ,under my care .
The patients at this place all call me doctor, and tell the manager they love me ,and i am so good .
So why dont i just do this for myself for a change ?
It will be hard ,and the eco climate is not the best right now ,i know, but i am tired of making other people .....450,000$$$$, a YEAR .

I need to make that for ....MYSELF .
    fucking hell~

When there’s no point in grieving
I just felt the need to post this. A. I'm utterly impressed by the fact that someone went through his high notes and frickin identified what each was. B. It's just a lot of fun. And pretty. Did I mention pretty?

Also. I tried logging onto DCO a few hours ago and the site was totally down with some Sony message. I thought maybe we crashed it again or something, but it's back up now. Lol.

Pound the sands of courage. Reach for clouds that cover the foam. Dance with bold expression.
So, tonight was exactly what I needed after the feelings I was having that I explained in the last (public) post. Tonight was amazing.

I have the most amazing friends in the world. My life is awesome and I just need to remind myself of nights like these when I start to feel like it isn't.

    Thank you!
I am headed off to vegetate because...man, it has been a long day. But first I wanted to say a big THANK YOU to [info]icalynn, [info]aurilly  and A. Nonny Mouse for the virtual birthday presents. Thank you! *hugs you all*

I now feel intensely guilty for having subjected you all to the James Kyson Lee "gay porno" pose. So, to make up for it, I present you with a link to the webpage of a doctor who works on our study. I just met him in person for the first time, and let me tell you, the photo in this link doesn't even vaguely do him justice. Looking at him in real life is kind of like looking at Mohinder, where all you can think, "...Wow." And also like Mohinder, he's a doctor who speaks several languages.  Unfortunately it would have been kind of creepy for me to film him, so all I can offer is this poor picture of him. But please, accept this as my penance.
