Summary Lindsay isn't beautiful
Table/Prompt inspired by fairy tales/the ugly duckling
Lindsay Monroe had never been beautiful. Cute she could do if she was lucky, if she worked at it. Cute like your kid sister. Cute sucked.
She knew it wouldn’t get better when she came to New York, a city full of beautiful girls. Then she went and made one of the most stunning girls there her best friend, which certainly didn’t help.
She was plain. Nice ordinary Montana. And worst of all, she was, begrudgingly, used to it.

Then she met Danny Messer. He didn’t change everything, at least not a first. Lindsay figured it was amusing to him, flirting with the country girl. She saw the women he dated.
Except the dating seemed to happen less and less frequently. And the flirting happened more and more until Lindsay realized there was something between them.
And then they fell in love.

Lindsay glanced up from the report she was working on and noticed, not for the first time, the way Danny was staring at her.
“What?” she demanded.
“Nothing.”
“You’re staring.”
He shrugged. “Hard not to stare at the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen.”

Lindsay blushed, ducking her head. She would have thought it was a line before, but now…now she saw the earnestness in his eyes when he said it. Now she knew he meant it.
“It’s true you know,” he continued. “How you wrinkle your nose. The way you crease your forehead when you’re thinking. Your hair, god, your hair Montana.”
She smiled. Lindsay Monroe was finally, undeniably, beautiful.
