Italicized items: are in progress.
Items italicized and crossed out: were completed and discussed in the last update.
Items starred: are going to be modified from this point on. The old goal is the one starred, the new goal is the one later elaborated on.
Items crossed out: have been completed since the last update.
Everything else: mocks me.

List started: 4/15/07
Date last updated: 1/12/08
List end date: 1/9/10

Sidenote: There are some in here that should be modified, but I want to wait and see how some things unfold in my life first before I go on changing them. I'm mainly talking about the transportation section, with learning the NY subway and whatnot, considering I no longer live in NY mainly - and therefore, that goal is useless to me. Had I changed it to learning the T, when I was in Mass., I would have been equally in trouble, since now I no longer live there either. I live in Illinois, and I'm SO READY to change it to learning the cta/metra system but um, with my luck, I'll end up in Colorado by the end of the year and that goal will be useless too. So, really, they might just be chucked out completely and replaced. We'll see.

Being independent and so on:

In Progress
7. Start and continue with meditation for a month.
Started on 2/11/08, every night before I go to sleep. :) Let's hope I can keep up with it.

21. See all writing movies on my list I found of 200 movies about writing and writers.
Since the last time, I've seen Breakfast of Champions, The End of the Affair, and The Muse. I would've seen more but they sent me The Muse (they being netflix) on a broken dvd TWICE. Fortunately, the second one was just barely viewable, but the first once was blatantly cracked. So, this puts my total at 43/200 movies.

22. Read all books on my constantly growing to-do list. Once I have read 200 of those books, mission accomplished.
Since the last time, I've read A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius, Rx, and Post Secret: My Secret. Putting the overall total attttt 64 out of 200 books.

29. Try to limit credit card spending to under $200 for at least three months (yeah I’m not doing this until I start college after I buy all the crap I need for college)
Last month was about $8. Hell yeah. This month is still under 100, so I have hope. :)

30. Have my bank account not dip below $100 for a year.
Overall, I'm at $355 currently. Huzzah. Hey, that's a lot for a person who has no exact job and is somewhat of a student. Hahaha.

34. Do not become obsessive with drugs and alcohol in first year of college as I think I might.
36. Keep up with closest friends during the first year of college.
39. Learn a bunch of the stereotypical drinking games, hehehe could also be considered “Social” but eh.

44. Write at least three pages stream-of-conscious everyday for a month.
Started on 2/13/08. Last time I started this goal, I got about like half-way through a month before I simply didn't have time anymore. :X Let's hope that doesn't happen again.

49. FOLLOW UP WITH MY WRITING MYSPACE/FILTER and any other writing sites I decide to create, for at least a year.
50. Attend at least one reading/slam a month for a year.
January 31st, 2008 at Columbia College. While I couldn't physically attend this, for various reasons, they uploaded the readings onto a website so I could at least still hear the open mic readers. :) I might have to do to the same thing this month. Fie, adjustment periods.

51. Give at least three readings a year.
56. Keep in contact with Janee Baugher, Cynthia, and any other writing resources through my first year of college.
Just heard back from Cynthia, yayyy.

58. Network like a mofo with my writing so that I have five solid writing resources.
62. Travel to a new place at least once a month for a year and take many photographs of it.
January - Park Forest, IL
February hasn't been done yet...

65. Buy WARM and sensible coats, gloves, and boots.
Still need gloves :(

68. Wear chapstick in the winter instead of letting my lips get disgusting.
69. Buy pretty looking underwear and don’t kill it in the wash.
72. Learn how to cook five meals that aren’t pasta.
Still only at 1/5 - shrimp casserole.

73. Learn how to bake five things that aren’t apple pie.
Still only at 1/5 - chocolate mousse cake.

80. Keep $20 aside each month for a year to donate to charity.
Set up a monthly donation subscription with Make-A-Wish foundation. :) They're going to start charging my credit card in March.

84. Stay true to my political beliefs and do not go so left of the spectrum that I forget who I am – first year of college.
GO OBAMA. *cough*

87. Every day for at least three months, write down a list of things that make you happy/were positive about the day. On especially good days, try to increase the number of items on the list and come up with more happy things. On a sucky day, at least keep with the number you had set before.
At one-and-a-half-months right now. I started it at the beginning of January, and I'm going strong. At 38 things a day. :)

89. Learn about more religions, attempt to be tolerant, and find out truly if there is a religion I can agree with or if I am just merely “spiritual” and agnostic. Do this in one year.
Still on Wiccan and Tao. Buddhism is next on my list... any other suggestions? I've already gone through the christian faiths pretty well.

93. Call mom once a week during first year of college.
I live with her now. So, it's much more than that. -_-

97. Learn the basics of tarot.

102. Try five new flavors of tea.
Still at 4/5. SO CLOSE. Haha it's only funny because I definitely have another type of tea in my house... I just haven't gotten around to drinking it. How silly.

In Progress Count:

27 / 105 goals. 26% done!

Completed

Previously Completed:
2, 3, 5, 8, 10, 11, 13, 15, 16, 23, 24, 25, 28, 32, 33, 40, 41, 42, 45, 46, 52, 53, 60, 61, 63, 66, 67, 74, 77, 79, 81, 83, 86, 88, 90, 91, 94, 100, 104, 105, 106

Completed Since January:
70. Learn how to sew or knit.
With the aid of A-Thing-A-Day, I learned how to sew (basically, minimally) on February 3rd, 2008.

78. Only go on aim for a maximum of two-three hours for everyday for a week.
Heh, okay, this occurred with some outside impetus. I was working towards avoiding someone, who beforehand didn't have a computer working, and then magically got his computer fixed and was on aim all the time. It made the task that much easier.

85. Vote in the next election no matter where I am.
PRIMARY. OBAMA OBAMA OBAMA. *excitement* Hahaha but yeah. I rushed like a madwoman to fill out an absentee ballot application for NY, which I think got there JUST in time, and filled out my first official ballot! And voting for someone I actually support too (not the traditional "lesser of two evils" approach). Huzzah!

Total Completed Tasks:

44 / 105 goals. 42% done!

Just a random note, but the CTA actually isn't that hard to learn :) Metra is a little annoying, as is Pace, but the CTA itself isn't too bad. Then again, I've been taking it for ten years now *facepalms*

Oh the CTA is only intimidating because I've just moved here and never used it before. So, I wouldn't really know how actually difficult it is yet... or err, anywhere I'd be going when taking it hahah.

Learn NYC geographically? Well....south is Brooklyn, north is the Bronx, Queens is east, NJ & Staten Island are west. Higher the street number, the farther uptown you are. Avenues are a different thing entirely. Is that kinda what you mean?

I know this is probably a defunct goal, but I haven't been in New York in a long time and I miss it. I never mastered the transit IN New York, but I could manage transit TO New York - NJTransit and the LI Railroad - ok.

Good luck on your list!

Oh I was fine with LIRR - I used it all the time. I grew up in long island. It's just the subways I never got - and since I didn't go to NYC frequently enough, I could never really differentiate the key things. Of course, right when I begin to start recognizing and mastering things, I move out of NY.... -_-

How was 'A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius'? I'm just got it off of BookMooch, and I've yet to find someone who has read it.

It was pretty good. He's witty, but he'll go on some rambling stages that, if you're a daydreamer, you can get lost in. Some parts drag on, but overall it's enjoyable.
