In defense of itself, the human race has given birth to a special collection of people known as the Ensouled. There are those who are Singers, who give birth to power from the very music of their soul. There are those who are Players, who give birth to power by the work of their hands. There are those that are Weavers, who take the power of a Singer and weave it into being. Then there are those who are very rare called Spinners, who give birth to power from the music of their soul and then spin it into being. Through the work of the Ensouled, the Dark Ones have been successfully held at bay for centuries.
