I've been having this dilemma for quite some time now. In the past all my layouts have worked in 800x600 screens.
However, I'm thinking more and more of dropping that support and designing for screens @ 1024 x 768 - particularly for three column layouts were the sidebar and sideheaders are between 200px to 300px wide - they simply don't look good or even work sometimes in smaller resolutions like 800 x 600. So, here's a super quick poll:
ETA: REPOST - forgot some resolutions - here's the final poll:

OH LONG TIME NO SEE YOU GUYS.
Another floral/gray/black layout because that's how I roll. Maybe something more exciting to come?!
Theme: S2 Flexible Squares
Browser: Functions on Firefox, 800x600+. The IE version is wonky, but workable. Not tested with plus ads.
ENABLED: Custom comment pages, sidebar, div-contexual pop-up.
TURNED OFF: title/subtitle.

Promises is percentage based, so it will take up most of your browser window. Header is disabled, sidebar is enabled, all sections of the sidebar are coded. Comment pages, and all other pages are coded.
Alt. Ride is freaking tiny, and there are some negative pixels defined in there, so it may not do too well in Internet Explorer. Header is disabled, sidebar is enabled (as topbar). Turn off everything in the sidebar except blurb and the links list. Default userpic is suggested, but optional. Comment pages, and all other pages are coded. (p.s. topbars rule)
- Again, I don't know how/if either layout will work with ads or in IE. One of these really boring days I might figure those out.
- The coding for the tiny images is in there (at the bottoms), you just have to add your own URLs; this goes for my previous layouts as well, I think.

1. Comment! Questions are welcome--I learn that way, too.
2. Credit to mintyapple, not my own journal, please.
3. Report any bugs?
4. Feel free to change to your liking, but don't repost and claim as your own.
