ABOUT

This community is for the icon maker who is disillusioned with the current trends, whose eyes bleed at the sight of 50 different light textures and random boxes on an icon, and who just wants some cool cropping and maybe a nice border, thanks.
Membership is moderated; that is, you must apply and be accepted before you can post your icons here. We won't be crazy icon Nazis, but we have a Good Eye and will therefore judge you accordingly. Don't hate us if we reject you; we will still love you in our hearts.

WHAT WE LOOK FOR

Clarity, interesting/aesthetic cropping, use of color, quality, and simplicity. Minimalism is the key word here. Text is allowed, but only if it is used in an artistic way and doesn't detract from the image(s) in the icon. (![[info]](http://p-stat.livejournal.com/img/userinfo.gif) ladymargaret slightly discourages text, but has seen octoberine use it in highly classy and delicious ways, so isn't outlawing it.) It is also worthwhile to note that we're not looking for bases, here. Artistic cropping and a little sharpening never did anybody no harm (unlike bad English) -- let us see that you put thought into this 100x100 square of simplistic love.

Note the use of text in octoberine's Gandalf icon. Simple, seperate from the picture, not overbearing in the least. This is a classy and delicious way in which to utilize text. Don't copy, though. These are examples. Which leads us to the...

RULES

1. LJ-cut entries that contain more than 3 icons.
2. No entries that lack icons!
3. Always follow the rules that icon makers post in their entries, but a good rule is: comment, credit, and loooove.
4. FOLLOW THE RULES IN THE APPLICATION POST AS WELL. Thank you.
5. No entries that link to friends-locked entries. Don't do it, it's just rude.
