AboutMinicon is an annual gathering of science fiction and fantasy fans sponsored by the Minnesota Science Fiction Society (Minn-StF). The convention is held each year in or near Minneapolis, Minnesota over Easter weekend.
Minicon 44 will be held April 10 - 12, 2009 at the Sheraton Bloomington Hotel in Bloomington, Minnesota. Our Guests of Honor will be Karl Schroeder, Seth Shostak, and Stephan Martiniere (unfortunately due to a family tragedy, Stephan Martiniere will be unable to attend Minicon, but we will have some of his art on display). This community is intended for announcements about Minicon, as well as discussion of Minicons past, present, and future.
For discussion of Minn-StF (including upcoming meetings and other events), please see![[info]](http://l-stat.livejournal.com/img/community.gif)

Try to keep most discussion of Minicon in this community and most discussion of club stuff that doesn't directly involve Minicon over there, but of course there will be some overlap and occasional crossposting between the two communities. Most folks interested in one should also follow the other.
While some members of the current Minicon committee do read this community and post to it, if you need to discuss anything in particular with a con chair or another concom member, please use the contact information on the website for the current Minicon (Minicon 44) to get in touch with them; we can't guarantee that they will see posts made to this community.
Some older semi-official Minicon LJ communities still exist for historical reasons, so you can see what was posted about those Minicons (before we hadminicon): minicon43, minicon42_2007, minicon41, and minicon40. This community is now the one Minicon LJ community to rule them all.
