hi everyone.
i have made an illustration inspired by joanna newsom some time ago. maybe some of you like it :)
i was listening to "sawdust and diamonds" all the time while i was working on it. i wanted her to look like an origami mermaid haha :D

Hi, I am new to this community and a new fan of Joanna Newsom. I absolutely love her music, but so do y'all because that is why you are here.
But I found her music, in kind of a sad way. Like I know she is dating Andy Samberg and I am a HUGE Lonely Island fan, so I decided to check out her music. And I am ashamed to say that at first I didn't know what to think. Like I thought it was really weird at first so I just didn't even try to listen to her music. But then like two days ago I was listening to a playlist from TLI where they were playing their favorite music. And I was going through the songs and then I heard her voice and decided to stop and listen to it. I was blown away and the song was "Peach, plum, pear." It sounded so good and beautiful and I couldn't believe I didn't like it at first. So then I immediately went on to itunes and bought "The Milk-Eyed Mender" which I listened to constantly. In the past few days I bought all the songs she has on itunes and I cannot stop listening to her music, because it is amazing. Then I decided to see if there was a community for her and of couse there was. So that is why I am here.
Sorry for the boring story, but I wanted to say hi and how I found Joanna.

So apparently Joanna Newsom appeared as voice talent in the anime Sky Crawlers. I found this out by seeing her name in the credits at the end of the movie. However, I didn't recognize her voice or any of her songs in the movie. Does anyone know what she did for this?

The movie was basically about genetically engineered fighter pilots who stay kids forever as they wage a war for the entertainment of the masses. If anyone has seen the movie could she have been one of the ladies from the brothel?

hey, can we not post advertisements and not disable comments? i know i'm being a total bitch, but i'm a member of this community for, you know, information on joanna newsom, not crossposts for some other musician.
plus disabling comments is frankly rude, no matter where you are.

i know it's a lull-time, but the information we have had has been interesting. the fashion show, mgmt video, and especially the SECRET SHOW WHAAAT. i'm really excited for some new jnew news.

Scroll through the slide show, there are a bunch of pics of her, and she looks absolutely stunning! Plus, all the ones w/ her and Miranda July together. Dang.
But somehow it makes me kind of sad. I mean, I know she's always had a thing for fashion, but she seems to have passed the threshold between "artist" and "celebrity". Hosting fashion designer parties w/ Moet/Chandon? Or maybe I'm just selfish and rather she'd be holed up in some room writing and recording her next album. Talk me down.
Completely unrelated: Is Keira Knightly capable of smiling? The pout works for some people, but make her look like she's at death's door.
