| About: | As a migraine sufferer of twenty-plus years myself, I know it's very difficult to find people empathetic enough to understand the pain of migraines. Anyone who has had a tension, sinus, migraine, or cluster headache knows the agony. I thought it might be nice to start a community where people who share this awful pain could go for advice, complain, or just talk about the difficulties of living with this awful phenomenon. Please feel free to wander around the Memories section (http://www.livejournal.com/tools/memories.bml?user=migraines) and get to know the members and their experiences and knowledge. You may find a lot of your questions answered before you even need to ask. You will also find tags attached to many of the entries to ease your search. A list of all tags in use is here (http://community.livejournal.com/migraines/tag/). I encourage you to take advantage of both features if you are questing for something in particular. Welcome! -Jennifer ( Hello fellow migraineurs, I've suffered from migraines for over 12 years and have suffered from chronic daily migraines (status migraine) for over 5 years. If you have head pain, you've come to the right place. I'm in charge of tagging entries and other small community maintenance items for Jennifer. Community Resources (http://community.livejournal.com/migraines/556041.html) is an entry containing links to Migraine Support Groups, General Migraine Information, Specific Migraine Topics, Migraine Medications, Migraine's Cousins (tension headaches, cluster headaches), and Migraine Blogs & RSS Feeds & Forums. It's information gathered by our members for every one's benefit. If you have a web site you'd like to recommend, a tag for an entry you'd like to suggest, an addition to the interests section above, or think there's an entry that should be placed in the memories section, please let me know and I'll update these pages. To do this, comment on the Community Resources page. Thanks! Pam ( Community RulesAs migraines are frequently treated with narcotics and other drugs with the potential for abuse, ... As migraineurs are frequently labeled as "drug-seekers" whether true or not, and... As migraines are often accompanied by (comorbid with) other health problems including, but not limited to, depression and anxiety... We ask that all members: make sure your posts are about migraines or problems directly relating to migraines. respect one another both as posters and repliers to posts. personal attacks and/or flames will not be tolerated. Report to the moderators if you see one. do not enable (i.e., rescue) or support behavior that is counter-productive to health. take what you like and leave the rest; that is, if you don't like a suggestion, simply say "thank you for that suggestion" and leave it at that. You don't have to follow it, but you don't have to rebuke someone for suggestions made in good faith. make your own choices and take responsibility for them; if you choose to to follow a suggestion, fine. However, it is not fair to anyone to complain that because you did or didn't do something, you got results you didn't like. Your choices are just that. Yours. This last one I cannot stress enough... TALK TO YOUR DOCTOR BEFORE Many of us have medical training and/or degrees. Many of us are "professional patients" or are in some other way recognized as experts on migraines. But we cannot be held responsible for information you receive here, legally, ethically or morally. Your prescribing doctors are the only ones who ultimately should be considered when it comes to decisions on your health. | |
