Title of your Fic: Taming the Weasleys
Author:
silvernatasha
Summary, in brief: Despite their mother's nagging, Charlie and Percy Weasley are perfectly happy being single and have no intention of settling down and getting married. The women in their lives, however, have other ideas.
Rating: Adult
Percy Weasley: Katherina Minola
A very successful businessman, Percy has no interest in getting married, calling it an outdated institution. He blatantly ignores his mother Molly’s (Baptista) nagging about getting a wife, and his brother Charlie (Bianca) uses him as an excuse not to enter into any serious relationships. Hermione Granger (Petruchio), however, proposes to him and he agrees after being persuaded that it will help his business prospects. Despite his thoroughly unpleasant treatment of her, Hermione manages to ‘tame’ him and gain his respect by the end.
Charlie Weasley: Bianca Minola
Back in England after years abroad, Charlie loves the single life and is determined to ignore his mother’s nagging about settling down and getting married, especially as he’s got a gaggle of girls hanging onto his every word, namely Angelina (Hortensio) and Katie (Gremio). However, he eventually falls in love with and elopes with Lavender (Lucentio), who has been giving him medical training that he needs for a promotion at the reserve.
Hermione Granger: Petruchio
Hermione, who has been living and working in France for the last couple years, arrives back in England with Ron (Grumio/Curtis). She is looking for an investor for her latest project and, when they meet with Ron’s brothers at the Leaky Cauldron, Angelina (Hortensio) sees an opportunity and mentions Percy (Katherina) and his large fortune. Hermione vows to pursue Percy for his money - using men for her own good isn’t exactly a foreign concept.
Lavender Brown: Lucentio
Lavender, who became a med witch after the war, wants to get become more specialised in her work and get more experience, and therefore get one step closer to a promotion. Parvati (Tranio/Biondello) points out that she can’t spent all her time studying and that she should have a bit of fun as well. In the Leaky Cauldron, they find themselves sat at the next table from Percy, Charlie and Charlie’s loyal fan girls, and while she’s looking on, Lavender falls in lust/love with Charlie and begs Parvati to help her find some way of getting into his life. Parvati gets her a job giving Charlie medical training and the two eventually elope.
Molly Weasley: Baptista Minola
Not a major player as her children are rather independent, but mostly seen nagging her sons Percy (Katherina) and Charlie (Bianca) to find a nice girl and settle down.
Angelina Johnson: Hortensio
Working at the same dragon reserve as Charlie (Bianca), Angelina flirts horrendously with her co-worker. She is determined to go out with him, even though he says that he doesn’t want a relationship with anyone. She tells Hermione (Petruchio) about the money that Percy (Katherina) has, in order to get Percy into a relationship so that Charlie will settle down, too. However, after seeing Charlie and Lavender (Lucentio) together, she decides not to pursue Charlie further and starts to consider the advances that Fred (Widow) has been making towards her.
Katie Bell: Gremio
Friend of Angelina (Hortensio) and loyal fan girl of Charlie (Bianca). Agrees with Angelina to find someone for Percy (Katherina) so that they can pursue Charlie properly - they’re competitive, but in a friendly way. Katie, however, gives up when she gets chatted up at the hen/stag party by an old flame (clearly a transparent excuse to use the line ‘kiss me, Kate’ in the fic).
Parvati Patil: Tranio/Biondello
An amalgamation of two characters from the play, Parvati is Lavender’s (Lucentio) best friend and confidante. She works with Ron (Grumio/Curtis) and Lavender persuades her to help her get close to Charlie (Bianca). She takes advantage of her friendship with Ron to be around The Burrow a lot and finds out that Charlie needs a first aid qualification in order to get a promotion. Parvati also spots that Charlie doesn’t like all of Katie and Angelina’s flirting and starts to flirt outrageously with him - people assume that her sudden interest in The Burrow is due to Charlie and it has the added bonus that Lavender will be far more appealing if she isn’t throwing herself on him.
Ron Weasley: Grumio/Curtis
Still Hermione’s (Petruchio) best friend, Ron just ignores his mother’s nagging about getting married by diverting attention to Percy (Katherina) and Charlie (Bianca) and saying that they’re older, etc. Ron is responsible for telling Percy in a private conversation that getting married might actually be good for his business as a lot of the men that he wants to invest in his company are family men.
Fred Weasley: Widow
During the war, Fred eloped with his shop assistant Verity and the two had a baby, although Verity was killed in an attack on Diagon Alley. He’s always held a torch for Angelina (Hortensio), which has flared up again since she’s been hanging around The Burrow. Eventually, she agrees to go out with him.
Chapter I:
Lavender and Parvati are shopping in Diagon Alley, talking about how Lavender wants to get a promotion. Parvati points out that she can’t spent all her time studying and cites the old ‘all work and no play’ adage.
They decide to stop at the Leaky Cauldron for lunch and find themselves sat at the next table from Percy, Charlie and Charlie’s loyal fan girls, Katie and Angelina.
The Weasleys are talking about how their mother has been nagging them about getting married: Percy calls marriage an outdated institution and Charlie responds by saying that he loves being single and won’t get into a committed relationship until Percy does.
Chapter II:
When Percy and Charlie go to the bar to get more drinks, Katie and Angelina agree to find someone for Percy so that they can pursue Charlie properly.
While she’s looking on, Lavender falls in lust with Charlie and begs Parvati to help her find some way of getting into his life.
Hermione, who has been living and working in France for the last couple years, arrives with Ron. Angelina sees an opportunity and mentions Percy and his large fortune to Hermione, who is looking for an investor for her latest project. Hermione vows to pursue Percy for his money - using men for her own good isn’t exactly a foreign concept.
Chapter III:
Parvati, who works with Ron, takes advantage of her friendship with him to hang around at The Burrow, where Ron, Charlie and Fred are currently living for various reasons.
Parvati finds out that Charlie wants to apply for the job of the Head Tamer at the reserve he is working for in Wales, but to do so he needs to have a first aid qualification: she immediately volunteers Lavender, knowing that this would then get Lavender a) close to Charlie, and b) one step closer to her promotion.
Chapter IV:
Hermione, who has been watching Percy carefully (read: spying on him), is determined to win him over, although her intentions have moved from strictly business to a more lusty nature.
Hermione goes to The Burrow for dinner on Christmas Eve. When talking to Lavender, she realises that they're both using work to get the man they want. After they spar wits, she announces that she's going to marry him.
Chapter V:
Percy is left shocked by Hermione's proposal. Ron comes up to his room to tell him his help is needed and they talk about what just happened. Ron tells him that getting married might actually be good for his business as a lot of the men that he wants to invest in his company are family men.
After considering this, Percy announces during dinner that he and Hermione are to be married, much to Hermione's surprise.
Chapter VI:
Percy and Hermione have a joint stag and hen party, although the ‘happy’ couple storm off in their separate directions after getting into a fight fairly early in the evening.
Charlie invites Lavender and Angelina back to his new flat for coffee in all innocence - he really just wants to show off his new bachelor pad - both women are rather miffed that the other is there.
In private both reveal to him that they have romantic intentions towards him. Angelina begins to suspect that Lavender is in love with Charlie.
Chapter VII:
On the wedding day, Hermione is a little more than fashionably late, and wearing a completely ridiculous outfit. Percy is horrified, but his pride refuses to let him call off the wedding.
After the wedding, Hermione takes Percy back to France with her. The rest of the Weasley family is amazed, but all admit that they’re glad to be rid of him.
Chapter VIII:
At their honeymoon villa in Padua, Hermione ends up putting a Full Body Bind on Percy because he disagrees with her about every little thing.
She tries to get him to say that the sun is the moon or whatever she wants it to be as a way of proving that he takes her seriously and respects her. Until he does so, she refuses to let him eat, even going so far as to eat his favourite meal in front of him.
Chapter IX:
Back at The Burrow, Angelina and Parvati spy on Lavender and Charlie together and hear Charlie admit that he’s fallen for her.
Angelina tells Parvati that she can’t pursue Charlie anymore after hearing/seeing that and she admits that Fred has been owling her and that maybe she should give him a chance.
Chapter X:
Charlie and Lavender beg Parvati to help them and she engineers a way of distracting the rest of the Weasley family so that they can elope.
Meanwhile, Percy finally says what Hermione wants him to say and they return to England.
Chapter XI:
When Percy and Hermione arrive back, they find a full-blown fight about to erupt when Charlie and Lavender announce their marriage.
Hermione and Percy manage to distract everyone, though, with a very public kiss.
