I've been contemplating the nomination and requesting procedure and I think we might have a minor problem.

The Yuletide matching process has only two requirements. Fandom and characters. Sometimes they have to scramble to find someone who didn't actually sign up for a fandom but has written in it before or they know has an interest in it.

We have three requirements. Major fandom, minor fandom and characters. While Yuletide has an advantage in that there's one chance in four of a match for fandom, we have a slightly larger problem. Half our people could sign up for the same major fandom and a set of completely different minor fandoms, for example - after that we have the character matches.

Do we have anything in particular planned to prevent this sort of lack of matches?

Multiverse 2004 gets around this in part by simply having people sign up for a list of fandoms and matching that way - you write for whatever characters requested turn up.

This is the post where you volunteer to do stuff! Think of it as a personal ad matchup.

Code-monkey Prime - Numinicious
Code-monkey Beta Prime - Karanguni
Graphics/Sorting the Major Fandoms List - Hhertzof
Bad Cop/Answerer of e-mailed questions/Prompt Matching/Pinch Hit List backup - Truth
Prompt Matching - Llwyden
FAQ Go To/Maintainer - Voks
Prompt Matching/Cheerleader - Kristin
Answerer of e-mailed questions/Graphics Second - Sleepfighter
Pinch Hit List/Cheerleader - Cadet Dru
Backup for all but Code-monkey and Graphics - Everywherestars

Pinch Hit List and Prompt Matcher will both need large blocks of time free. Plan accordingly.

Code-monkey Prime requires masochism in a big way.

Answerer of e-mailed questions simply means that you check the e-mail several times a day once the nominations open and answer anything in there that hasn't been addressed, or bring it to the attention of the mods at large for a ruling (depending on the question/issue).

Wanted:

Wanted: more code monkeys. Specifically, people who have knowledge of Javascript, Perl, PHP and MySQL.

I have to use my Yuletide icon 'cause Mania doesn't have one yet!

For those of you who are helping out with the planning of Midsummer Mania, here are handy links:
- A Guide to Running a Fiction/Art Exchange. It's incredibly informative and I suggest that everyone give it a look, just to see what we're up against.
- Astolat's explanation of the Yuletide matching process. Which I am trying to avoid duplicating. *cries*

We have some ideas already, but if anyone wants to contribute, please comment here. Any thoughts, ideas, complaints, etc. are welcome.

What counts as a fandom crossover? How should prompts be listed? What should our catchphrases and victory cries be? So on and so forth.

Thanks! :)
