though I have to admit I'm not that fond of swirls... usually they're pacing on an icon is really strange *tries them out non the less*

I think the swirls are difficult to use, but there are still several ways to make it work. You can erase some parts of it so that it'll blend better with your icons or use it on a landscape icon.

they are XD but when I see that some people just put it on their icons, maybe erase a bit but then doing nothing more <.<; horror

well at least I was able to get a not so bad one done XD

hhaha yeah. if it doesn't work for you, don't use it. :D sometimes i find forcing a texture to work is just bad cause they don't like to work well sometimes.

yes XD same with brushes*is an brush-addict XD* so I often put something in, then something other, and at times one thing has to leave again ;)
nice are also this neon colors.... one icon is ok, but a post of, let's say, 20 icons jumping on your retina.... halleluja.
aaaaanyways XD I'm kinda satisfied with that one icon, maybe I can show you a version that didn't go into a contest ;)

Ooh, I want to see it. And you've mentioned contests a few times, but what are they exactly? I never do these contests because I'm afraid other people's stuff are better than me. I'm a wimp.

well lately I'm too crazy about them XD but I seldom win XD

usually you get a few pics, or at least you're told, what has to be on your icon, then a timeframe and then you can submit your icons after the deadline people vote and really... people have really strange tastes sometimes..... hmmm I take part regularly in [info]floral_icontest [info]nature_icontest and [info]travel_icontest because the pics they provide are beautiful [info]severalplums is interesting because of the tutorials... well sometimes XD but yeah if you have any interest in taking up a challenge you can go to [info]10variations

I think these contests are great for just playing with an image like you want... I sometimes or better almost always try new techniques on these, so not like the usual stuff I do just for fun... oh well, contests can be fun too XD

I used to participate in a community with contests. I think I won once out of many times that I submitted my icons. It was pretty fun, but then I stopped because I wasn't into icon-making anymore. I think it's cool to be in these contests since a little challenge always helps you grow (like you trying out new techniques). :]
