AboutWelcome to Midland, the LiveJournal.com community for the manga and anime series Berserk by Kentarou Miura. If you need more information about Berserk, please visit the Anime Web Turnpike list of Berserk links. Everyone is welcome to join this community, ask questions, and discuss, but to keep repetitive questions to a minimum, please make an effort to answer basic question on your own, say with help of Google or any of the many other resources available. This community is geared towards more specific questions of any nature, from plot interpretations, to character analyses, to new merchandise. There was no community on livejournal for Berserk, other than general anime/manga communities, so I figured it needed one. It isn't the most popular series, but I know those who like it usually list it as one of their all-time favorites.
WARNING: Berserk is a very heavy story. It contains violence, brutality, rape, and some potentially volatile social commentary, all helping to build a framework for an incredible story. This community only posits some guidelines for topics and themes, so be aware that this community could contain frank (though tasteful, hopefully) discussion of the above topics. If these things don't sit well with you, you are still welcome to participate, but I felt it would only be proper to give a warning first.
Rules:
0. Use your head. If you think a post or comment may be inappropriate, come back later and think it over, and if still in doubt, email the moderator about it.
1. No flaming. Period.
2. No links to manga scans or downloadable episodes directly. If you want to link to the site, that's fine, but not the the files or their associated files (torrents, etc.) themselves.
3. No images, unless they're behind a cut or link. It really messes with people's pages. Icons no larger than 100 x 100 pixels are okay.
4. No personal issues. Don't know why this would happen, but I'm going to put it here now and avoid problems later.
Guidelines:
These aren't rules per se, but please follow them to makes everybody's like easier.

-> Please use acceptable grammar and formatting. You don't need to follow White and Strunk, but do make an effort to make your posts and comments understandable.
-> If you post your opinion, go ahead and explain it; arguments need backing up. This isn't to be a nazi about anything, but the point here is to exchange ideas and thoughts. Your opinions are valued, but of little use without some explanation. Same goes for arguments; without your logic behind them, they're not that useful to others.
-> No topics are off-limits, so talk what you feel like. Keep in mind that same topics may be sensitive to others, so use discretion. For example, if there's no need to describe how totally bloody a scene is, don't. At the same time, if you feel graphic descriptions and certain words are useful to make your point or explain yourself, by all means go ahead.
