| Furnished apartments? |
[Jun. 3rd, 2009|08:42 pm] |
|
I graduated from MSU this spring, but I'll be coming back next fall for the post-bac teacher certification program, and after 4 years of living in the dorms, I'd really like to avoid it this time. I'm looking for a 1 bed/1 bath apartment that isn't ridiculously expensive (I have a car, so proximity to campus and/or a bus stop aren't really concerns), preferably with an option for a 9 month lease...and it has to be furnished. I've had a hard time figuring out which places offer furnished apartments (well, except Chandler Crossings, but that's ummmm out of my price range), so if anyone has any suggestions I'd really appreciate it. |

| Seeking an incredibly patient ASL tutor |
[May. 21st, 2009|05:53 pm] |
I'm enrolled in an Introduction to Deaf Culture and ASL class this summer at MSU and am looking for a tutor. I have a learning disability and things don't always register right in my head so ff you've worked with LD students before, it would be a huge plus. If not I need someone who is very patient and understanding. I'd be looking for help with basic sign and fingerspelling once a week for two hours. I'd need six weeks of sessions and am willing to negotiate prices. My schedule is very open, so if you have a busy one it shouldn't be a problem.
If you are interested please email me your credentials, preferred method of contact, and what you feel is a reasonable price, and I will get back to you. I can be reached at callingamy@livejournal.com
Thank you! |

| English Majors |
[May. 12th, 2009|11:20 am] |
Are there any plain old English majors here, without any specialization? I need to graduate, and I already had my summer classes planned out, but I managed to fail one of my spring classes, which I need to retake, and it's basically messing up my plan. Do any of you know how strict they are about adhering to your cognates? Or can I just have 120 credits and be done?
Thanks! |

| Online classes? |
[Apr. 29th, 2009|11:59 am] |
| [ | How I feel |
| | contemplative | ] | I recently got an offer to do an internship for this summer and fall, and after this semester I'll only be 6 credits away from graduating. I get 3 credits for the internship... which means I'll need to take another 3 credit class while I'm on my internship in order to graduate in December.
Does anyone know of any good/easy/interesting/fun online classes offered in the fall? It needs to be at least 3 credits for the numbers to work out for me.
Any ideas would be helpful. Thanks.
Also... good luck on exams everyone. :) |

[Dec. 4th, 2008|10:24 am] |

I saw flyers in the library for P2Pspot.com. It's actually pretty cool, It allows MSU students to exchange textbooks on-campus and its totally free. I just listed my books and I'll get an e-mail when another MSU student buys it. Has anyone else used this site? |

[Nov. 6th, 2008|09:28 pm] |
I could swear that I have seen a policy somewhere before that night classes starting after a certain time on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving are canceled. Am I just making this up?
Of course now that it matters for me I can't find it anywhere. I hope I'm not just dreaming. |

| question about voting tomorrow |
[Nov. 4th, 2008|03:26 am] |
hey everyone, i just realized i didn't receive a new address sticker to put on the back of my license so the address on my registration matches the one on my license. (may have been my fault, but beside the point). i was worried i wouldn't be able to vote but then i remember getting an email from louanna k. simon saying that our student id's would work just fine rather than our michigan licenses? or would i still need a sticker on my student id? if so, can i vote in the district on my license and not even have to show my registration? sorry about all the questions, i've just been stressing out because i really, really want to vote and i do not want to wait in line for hours to find out i won't be able to!! thank you so much, any help would be appreciated (: |

| Lost Keys on Campus |
[Oct. 14th, 2008|05:55 pm] |
I know this is probably a long shot, but I lost my keys this afternoon on campus. I left my dorm (Phillips) at 2:45pm, and went to class in Berkey from 3-4:20. I came back, ate in the caf, and then went to go to my room when I saw they were missing. I ran back to Berkey, checked at the union, and talked to the people in the caf and at the front desk of Phillips. No luck.
Has anyone else lost keys on campus? If so, any recommendations on where else to look for them at?
Thanks! |

| Bone Marrow Registration |
[Oct. 7th, 2008|01:13 pm] |
There is a great need right now for people to join the Bone Marrow Registry and it is quite easy to do. On Tuesday, October 14 in CAS 191 from 10 am - 4 pm you can get registered. All that is required from you is about 15 minutes of your time to fill out some health questions and get your cheek swabbed. If you are later found to be a match, the donation process is similar to blood donation - but it takes a little bit longer.
Look for more information on Facebook: GET SWABBED - Bone Marrow Drive
Please stop by to register - you never know whose life you could save if you're found to be a match. You can be a hero. |

| Horse management program |
[Oct. 1st, 2008|02:07 pm] |
| [ | How I feel |
| | excited | ] | I sent my application MSU on Monday. I've been thinking about it for months and decided now was the time to do it ;) Can anyone give me more info about the horse management program? It seems awesome. Currently I look after a 20 year old, 11 hand pony who's placid as a... very, very placid thing. Seriously, you sit on him, he goes nowhere, he's patient and just a joy. He's the only horse I've ever really ridden Is the horse management program an option for someone who is a virtual beginner?
Thanks in advance :) |

| Lost dog near Dover's Crossing in Lansing |
[Sep. 5th, 2008|04:41 pm] |
She is a one year old blue healer lab mix. Brown with black spotting. She has a red lease and collar and a pink paw print bandanna. She was lost on 9/03 around 6:30-7pm at the Dover's crossing apartment complex in Lansing MI near Dunckel and Jolly roads. She is micro-chipped, but doesn't have any tags on. She is sweet, but very very shy. She also has a green line tattoo on her stomach from when she was spayed. That's a lot of local information, but if you live near the area and have any information even if you just think you might have seen her please respond or call 1-517-243-1677

If you found it (or know someone who might have), i am offering a reward for its return... it means a lot to me, as it was a gift from my grandma for graduation. Please let me know if it has been found. my email is renshaws@msu.edu thanks. |

| Rolling applications? |
[Aug. 28th, 2008|09:58 pm] |
| [ | How I feel |
| | excited | ] | I'm planning to apply to MSU as a transfer this weekend- are admissions rolling? If so, how soon can I expect to hear, if not what is the first date applications are reviewed?
If I'm accepted I plan to live in Akers Hall East because it's an alcohol free hall. I've been told to check to make sure how strictly these regulations are enforced and honored by the students living here.
Many thanks in advance for your answers! |

| | the today show | ] | hey
so i am looking to buy a new/used car sometime soon and last night i had an absolutely horrible experience with a dealer in the area. basically they did not seem to understand that i was just trying to get information and find out how much it would cost me. i felt so pressured and it was just really sucky.
so, the point of this post is have any of you bought cars in the lansing area and had really helpful experiences with understanding salesman who don't pressure the hell out of you?
thanks for any advice you guys have :-D |

| Book Renting Update |
[Aug. 15th, 2008|07:34 am] |
All three relpies I've gotten so far about chegg.com are from brand new accounts with nothing on them. Just going by this, I'd say something is fishy and avoid the site. Just letting people know if they checked it out and thought it sounded good.
I didn't think anything with the first two comments, they sounded like something anyone would say, but the third was very much a bot/person working for the company who is trying too hard to get business. |

| Come see the closing week of TALLEY'S FOLLY! |
[Jul. 31st, 2008|10:56 am] |
So we'll be closing Talley's Folly on Sunday, and it's been a great run. The cast, crew, designers and director all did some wonderful work on this show, and audiences have loved the show. The remaining performances are from Thursday 7/31 through Sunday 8/3! Come on out and see the show! 517 655 7469 is the box office number!
Now we're starting work on next season, and right now we're in pre-production for Leaving Iowa.
The set model of Leaving Iowa, coming soon to Williamston Theatre
Set Design and model by Vince Mountain. (Click the pic to see it bigger!)
I'm a big fan of this set - a raked stage, that's a row of wheat along the back wall, and right behind that are 4 "sky" panels. The show moves so many places, including a lot of scenes in a car, that the furniture will consist of 4 small stools that will come and go as needed. (Oh, and one small table!)
I like Vince's models, he always includes some of the surrounding theatre space and audience members, so you get a nice feel for the perspective and scale of the set and how it will feel once you get the real thing in place.

| Moving Sale |
[Jul. 20th, 2008|03:21 pm] |
I'm offering the following for best offer (even if that offer is $0).
Kitchen Table - Wood and rectangular. Has leaf. Without leaf it fits 4 easily but could probably fit 6 without the leaf. Never put it in so I'm not sure how big it is with the leaf. I'd like to keep it but can't. It's in pretty good condition and has two chairs (the other two broke).
Couch - Its a tealish blend. I also like this, but its too big to move. It has a pull out bed. Its a little dirty, but a vacuuming of it will take care of that. Its comfy.
Bookshelves - 1 Tall painted Blue and 1 short fake wood
Desk - White fake wood desk with two drawers and a hutch. Not too small, not too large.
Dresser- Skinny, tall one with cubed drawers.
Vases- a selection of random vases
lazy susan - red
Lamps - one has a heart shaped base (metal and black)
candle holders- match the lamp above
Entertainment center - Large can fit a 26 inch tv and lots of storage. painted blue.
I am currently in Pittsburgh and I have no pictures here. Sorry.
We move out the 24th so contact me asap. Thanks. |

| AmeriCorps... |
[Jul. 13th, 2008|05:16 pm] |
Has anyone here done any work with AmeriCorps*VISTA? I found out that there is a program near my hometown where I could live at home and work (thereby actually being able to afford my bills, etc.), but I don't know anyone who has done AmeriCorps.
Thoughts?

| | she & him | ] | So, it's finals week for the first session of summer classes and I've found myself with a paper to write. I'm a night owl (or should I say, early-riser) who likes to nap in the evening and work on my papers between 10pm and 4am at the library. Unfortunately, summer hours at the library suck and don't allow for this schedule.
Can anyone suggest any 24 hour coffee shops near campus which have free wireless internet? I know there's the Beaner's on Michigan Ave, but that place always seems to be packed. And there's Theio's, but I'm skeptical, because I tend to hear of people going there after a night at the bar. Thoughts? |
