"This Wonderful Life" gets a rave review! [30 Nov 2009|08:57am]

rehearsalblog
The Williamston Theatre got a rave review for our production of This Wonderful Life, which is playing now through December 21st!

Encore Michigan calls the play "artful, delightful"! Click here to read it!

A teaser from the review:
"If you're impressed, and you should be, by the thought of one actor convincingly performing the entire movie It's A Wonderful Life, what would you make of one actor doing the entire movie in less than 60 seconds?

That's how John Lepard begins This Wonderful Life, playwright Steve Murray's one-man stage version of the classic film, at Williamston Theatre. Then Lepard (and Murray) get down to the business at hand, an artful, delightful 80-minute retelling of the 1946 movie that packs the narrative substance, multiplicity of characters, humor and emotional impact of the original while trimming it by a good 45 minutes. It'll get you home in time to see the Frank Capra opus on TV this holiday season but eliminates the need altogether."

The Williamston Theatre is the professional theatre company located in downtown Williamston! We're only 15 minutes from Lansing - come out and see this beautiful holiday show!

Our tickets normally range from $18-24, but we have discounts for groups and senior citizens! Students only pay $10!
For more info, call our box office at 517-655-SHOW (7469), or visit our website at www.williamstontheatre.com

hello and a question [02 Nov 2009|01:55pm]

Hi there! I've been using LJ for years for fandom things, and it just occurred to me that I hadn't tried looking for fellow Mitten-dwellers yet.

On- and offline I go by GR. I'm an aspiring writer and a compulsive proof-reader who moved up to MI from Oklahoma a decade ago in a quest for my One True Love. We're still happily together in spite of my glaring lack of homemaker-fu.

My question to the community is simply this: do folks use this group to network for job searching? If so, I'll throw my hopeful net out there and see if anyone could give me a lead; if not, I'll happily hang around for the restaurant and event posts. ^_^

selling doujinshi, dvds, (some rarer and not-so-rare) video games, etc. [02 Nov 2009|05:13am]

tokeloshe
I live in the Downriver area. Local pick-up is available at no charge.

Everything, as always, is or best offer. But I'm more likely to accept even lower offers now since it's THE WINTER SALE OF DOOM! What does this mean? Around mid-late November, I'm going into sales-hibernation! I won't be selling anything because I have absolutely no desire to trek about in the snow with packages (or at all) unless it's absolutely necessary.

ALL SUIKODEN DOUJINSHI IS BUY ONE, GET THE SECOND (LOWER PRICED) HALF OFF! IF IT'S A SET OF 2+, I'LL FIGURE OUT THE EXACT DISCOUNT! OR SOMETHING!</red>

Etc!
- Any games $10 or under are now buy three or more for $6 each!
- Final Fantasy doujinshi here.
- Other series doujinshi here (a LOT of Suikoden V!).
- Everything else (mostly video games) is here.

Tonight in the shiny new Downtown of Flint! [05 Sep 2009|08:58am]

albadore
I'll be spinning every Saturday at Churchills in downtown Flint starting TONIGHT. The way I do things is pretty different from other DJs...I don't spin top 40, or have a specific genre that I work. What its about is good vibes, fun and musical variety, music for feet, hips, heart and head. Retro, alternative, old school soul and funk, reggae, jazz and so on, doing it like I do it, EVERY Saturday night in downtown Flint. Music to surprise, entertain and elevate ya. Check it out, I think you're gonna dig it. No cover for 21 and over. Oberons on special, by the glass and by the pitcher!

As much as I appreciate and derive morale from the Pure Michigan ads, I still have a soft spot for the classic YES M!CH!GAN campaign.

Remember? THE FEELING'S FOREVER!
(Sorry the sound quality isn't any better, but that's the way I found it.)

fuzzinit
My wife and I recently started a great new business offering self defense products and home security equipment (FuzzCountry.com). I thought you would all be interested in what we have to offer. We carry many self defense products, both lethal and non-lethal. We sell stun guns, tasers, martial arts gear, batons (including expandable batons), knives, swords, pepper spray and so much more. We also carry high tech spy gear, surveillance equipment and various home security products. If you're interested, please take a look at what we have to offer.

We are passionate about the products we sell, and we are strong proponents of self defense products and alternatives to firearms, particularly in areas where firearms are not allowed. Our customer service is excellent, and we offer a professional, legitimate online shopping experience! We will go above and beyond for you!

So, below is a link to the site. Please feel free to email us with any feedback as to how we can improve the site:

Pretty cool for the gearheads... [17 Aug 2009|12:28pm]

albadore

Legendary amp designer Dave West stopped by Bogner Sound today to chew the fat with the boss (they used to work together!) and was kind enough to pose for this photo with Andy Bogner and a couple of his classic creations. Andy is standing next to one of the West Grande amps on the right, Dave is next to the West Fillmore on the left. Dave was able to confirm that the Fillmore was one of his builds for Grand Funk Railroad...which will be a great surprise for the guy who currently has this amp in layaway! If you don't know, the West amps were some of the first "boutique" amps, satisfying the need for greater volume and amazing tone that was rising in the late 60s and early 70s. They still sound phenomenal, too! Dave is still making amazing gear, check him out at www.westlabs.com.
