Yesterday, the person who maintains the Mount Holyoke College Twitter feed put a link to this photograph on my website, and asked which building was in the background. (It's a photo from May Day in 1921.)
Within 15 minutes, I had three email messages identifying the building, and within an hour had four more, plus a query about putting it up on a Facebook page with a link to my website. The power of Twitter! I was delighted to get all the email about it. It turns out that someone in the Communications Office at MHC maintains the Twitter feed, and she wants to tweet about other items on my website in the future. Yay!
It inspired me to update the mystery photo and the featured photo on my website this morning. I have great intentions of changing them once a week, but it usually is longer than that.

Can anyone tell me what the singles in 1837 look like? Or better yet, does anybody have some generic pictures of them? (I'm so thrilled to have gotten a single that I don't even care about the negative aspects of 18.)
Thanks!

Just curious if anyone else is all of a sudden getting loads of mystery-shopper or regional-representative-needed spam in their MHC email inboxes. I got 3 today, 6 yesterday, and 1 the day before.
I forward my mhc email to my gmail account, and usually gmail's spam filter is good at picking this stuff out... all of a sudden it's failing :( I'm tempted to just turn off the forwarding because this is starting to bother me.

As an alum who feels terribly out of the loop, I was wondering if folks could shed some light on recent protests on campus. I ask after seeing this pic -> http://www.flickr.com/photos/mhc/3486295812/ on the mhc flickr page.
Thanks!

Hi!
I was admitted to both Mount Holyoke and Smith, and am going through the very tough process of deciding between them. I'm leaning towards Mount Holyoke at the moment, but I've been going back and forth between them.
Can you guys give me any insight? Maybe on whats best/worst about them or differences to keep in mind about both? Anything would help!
Thank you!
ETA: I've chosen Mount Holyoke :). Thank you all so much!

Hi!
Could anybody tell me what Beginning Riding is like? I've ridden before, but it was a long time ago (like 5th grade) and I was thinking it might be fun to start again for the PE requirement, but I don't know anybody who's taken it before. Any general information would be great. Thanks!

Hi, I'm a first year student at MoHo and have been planning out how to fulfill all of the distribution requirements.
I've always wanted to learn Irish Gaelic and thought that since I HAVE to take a language, I might as well learn something that I'm actually interested in.
So my question: does anyone know if a Gaelic class is taught anywhere in the 5 colleges? I've tried looking at the 5 college course catalog but that site confuses the heck out of me.
Thanks!

If anyone is taking a class in the 5 college area, I need a ride from MHC to Amherst College every weekday for a class. I need to get to Amherst by 1pm every weekday, and back to Mount Holyoke by 3:30pm. Anyone? Will pay for gas. Thank you!

I deleted the last post that was up here, so I thought I would just post a quick review of what I consider to be acceptable material here.
This is a group for and about Mount Holyoke College. Posts should therefore have bearing on the college. I vehemently am against spam advertising for assorted Pioneer Valley happenings. Just because it's in the area does not make it on topic in my eyes.
Thank you.

Hey all! I just got back from leave and have been meaning to get a couple questions answered, if you'll be so kind:
1. We get $15 a semester on our One Cards for printing, right? Is this money used solely for printing, and does it carry over to the next semester if you don't use it all?
2. I know we're only allowed one bottled beverage from Blanchard on our meal plan, but I could have *sworn* those soy milks and juice boxes didn't count! Am I just crazy, or am I getting swindled here?
3. Is the senior thesis a full-year project, and if so, would it ruin my chances of studying abroad senior year? How do you go about picking a topic? Are you in full control of what you want to write about, or does your adviser steer the direction for you? I'll prolly browse the website for more info, but if someone could inform me on the basics, I'd be ever so grateful.
Thanks guys, and hope you're enjoying the semester!

I know that someone posted about this a little while back, but I commented and never got a response... so here it goes again!
I was looking for a ride to BDL on Friday, October 10... any time during the day really, as long as I get there around 3:30 or 4. I get back on Tuesday, landing at 4:25.
I would be completely willing to chip in for gas... and I'm ok with getting to the airport a little early and waiting, if that's how things work out.
Please email me if you think you could help out!
Thanks, Amy Plunk! plunk20a
