Question So I sold this bust on ebay and I guess there were marks on its back and the guy wants to compromise a discount for his nicked bust.
If you buy the bust from stores its $45 but he won it for $80. How much of a discount should I give this guy? |

Tangents I really want to ride my bike to work. The weather, recent proliferation of hurricanes aside, has been pretty nice for riding around the neighborhood - still a bit hot but for a couple days it looks like we're out of the clockwork afternoon thunderstorms. Unfortunately two things are getting in my way of hopping on the bike in the morning and trekking up to work. Next week I'm tasked with feeding the cats at my mother's house while she's up in Vermont. The other thing is learning to overcome the fear of death, otherwise identified as the intersection of Colonial and Alafaya. I really want to go to Vermont as well. I've got to manage my vacation days a bit better... I guess I just need to get used to the year-long grind of work. The college days were so nice with the summer vacations. Anyhow... back to work I suppose. Current Mood: blankCurrent Music: FLA - "Oblivion (Was It Worth It mix)" |

What did we learn? The FULL LENGTH version of "Oh No You Didn't!" from the Mercenaries 2 game trailer is a lot of fun. Forbidden Kingdom was NOT the "Greatest Martial Arts Epic Ever" as said on the back of the case. It is a good movie though, not the best. It was cool to see Jet Li and Jackie Chan have fun with their roles and fight scenes. I think Colin Chou (Seraph from the Matrix sequels) needed more screen time to be a more effective villain. He's a pretty good MA actor though. What a lot of the trailers and even the box do not tell you is that the movie is kinda like NeverEnding Story, etc. Where a young kid is sent to a different world to save it. It's not as bad though as those movies or god help us...Last Action Hero. The main kid is likeable and pretty good at his fight scenes. The young female "Sparrow" is very cute. Other downside to movie is it is a bit on the predictable side. But it is worth seeing though. Viking: Battle For Asgard is suprisingly good. Lots of action and the story is not bad. The gameplay is a mix of Mark of Kri, Diablo, Dynasty Warriors, and God of War. It's really a lot of fun slashing through hordes of undead orc-like soldiers and cleaving them into multiple pieces while searching for booze and pillaging the land! And in sad news.....THE VOICE has passed away. Don LaFontaine, also known as The Trailer Guy, is gone. Best known for "In a world..." He will be sadly missed. Until each of us die. MAYBE someone can explain this one to me. At work we've had a HUGE influx of people wanting to rent "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy". We found out that apparently it was REQUIRED SUMMER READING for I guess Oviedian High School kids or something. Oh and school over there started just over a week ago. Required summer reading? The Hitchhiker's Guide?! Does this not show how FUCKING STUPID THE OVIEDIAN PEOPLE ARE!??!?!?!?!? Maybe something like Cat in the Hat was more their level for summer reading. Seriously, I would have LOVED to have had that book as required reading! Oh and a quick thing. I've decided that EVERY customer that comes in or calls about that book, I will be telling them to just read the damn book. And offer a help should they need it. "First, open the book...." Brokedown Golf Cart ...9hr:35m of TIGER WOODS'09(Wii) today. I actually played this longer in a straight-gaming session than I did SMASH BROS BRAWL or MARIO KART, believe it or not. Thus I can say without a shadow of doubt that this IS the first sports game I've ever played where it's actually worth buying the system for. Tiburon managed to not only make a great golf simulator, but added a slew of fun options & mini-games. Add in the club tuner/Coach Hank to improve your game play skill, and it puts it over the rental mark and into purchase me territory. The flaws are minimal(graphics are above 'par' but could be better, announcer gets a little repetative), but it's easily worth the money if you're into the sport. I'm glad I bought the Wii version over the PS3 or X360... the extra "immersion" by swinging the Wii Remote was done impressively well - and without that "extra accelerometer" attachment Nintendo was planning to release in the near future. I haven't gone through all of the party games, but I figure that's worth checking out with the other FN'ers, if willing. [update] LOL... I DL'ed the NHL09(PS3)demo. Good stuff. Music is still kinda lame(like '08... makes me wish for custom soundtrack), but it's leaps & bounds better than NHL2K9. I'll most likely buy this too; but what caught my attention FNers... was that on the "WHAT'S NEW TO NHL09" splash page was: " MORE DANGLE - With the addition of protect puck, this one handed power move can help you bust past a defender as you drive to the net or avoid a body check to create scoring chances." ...How true. Dangle-on, Nobrans. Dangle-on. ;D Current Mood: pleased |

The Little Things When it rains, it pours. And I mean that in a good way... the past couple of weeks have just been peppering of good things in my life - a sequence of little things that have made me happy. This week has kept up with the trend: -Got my first shipment of bike accessories in yesterday (basket, mirrors, lock) and with the generous help of Ken, Jarrod and Joe got all of them installed on the bike. -Rode with Joe down to the local liquor store in Avalon and picked up a bottle of Buffalo Trace. Just had a glass of it and it's pretty damn good... probably the best bourbon I've had to date. -Everyday I get a little better with the bike. Soon I'll have the confidence to go to work on it, though I am waiting for the weather to cool off and dry out some before doing so. -Just got in Bitcrush's Shimmer and Fade, which was an "internet only" release back in 2005 that's finally been put on CD. It's the "album" he did before the excellent In Distance, so it should be more of transitional album as he went from the noisy industrial/IDM stuff of his Gridlock days to the more mellow shoegaze stuff he's doing now. -Sox taking 2 out of 3 in their last series at Yankee Stadium, when the Yanks "needed to sweep" the series. The Sox should've swept with a win today, but I am happy nonetheless. -Labor Dabor! I'm looking forward to logging a good day of work tomorrow and enjoying the hell out of the three day weekend. I know there's some tentative plans: Ain't-Goin'-To-Dragon-Con-Con (Iquana-Con?), Mike's BBQ and just general tomfoolery. Current Mood: goodCurrent Music: Bitcrush - "Shimmer" |

Stop bumming out because you're gonna miss a Convention that will set you back close to $300 or more! There's always next year...or the year after that...or maybe in a decade. BUT STILL!!! In the meantime, here is an interesting look at one of the concepts of a deleted character from MGS. Apperently....the lil guy was a drug peddler. ....and mentally handicapped. Easy Rider I'm digging my new bike. If I had a bike like this when I was a kid, I would've learned how to ride a bike around town instead of just on a flat track, and I'd be a few dozen pounds lighter today. I remembered that it's been about 15 years since I've climbed onto one, and while riding with Joe up and down Avalon Park Boulevard this weekend I had a few spills that I should've gotten out of the way when I was much younger. Anyhow, my knee and my ego were slightly bruised and I was a bit sore yesterday, but I'm fine otherwise. I rode around the block tonight and I'm starting to get the hang of the handling and I'm really, really starting to like this thing. I'm waiting for a few accessories to get in for it before I start making trips and commutes with it. Once I get the rear basket for it I know I'll be making a lot of runs to the grocery store with it (why waste gas when it takes the same amount of time to drive there as to bike it?), and perhaps visiting other folks in Avalon. Looking at the traffic the past few nights, I'm tempted to ride it to work. I won't lose much in the way of time every day. Current Mood: happy |

Maple Syrup After a long, hilarious conversation with a co-worker, I've decided to change the five-year plan to include: - Moving to Canada/Changing Citizenship - Figuring out how "chin nuggins" came about and why aestheticus' icon of it is hypnotizingly hi-larious (even more LOLz'worthy was reading the spell check suggestions for "nuggins") - Become competitively good at TIGER WOODS'09 on the Nintendo Wii - Settling with the significant other - Eagerly await the use of my voucher for the KRATOS sackboy character in LITTLE BIG PLANET - Start planning for the annual HALLOWEEN Night Pub Hopping @ Downtown Orlando now (it's on a TOTAL FUCKIN' FRIDAY this year!) - Find out what 'higher powers' keep me from ever going to Dragon*Con. Not that it matters, but it would be nice to know. Oh and while I'm on the subject -- Mike(you know who you are), BUY YOUR OWN EFFIN'GHETTO TROOPER HELMET. THE REASON WHY WE'RE GHETTO IS FROM SPENDING ALL THE MONEY ON THE HELMET AND BOOZE!! GET WITH THE PROGRAM, D00D! LOL! >:O - Lastly, I want to finish goddamn WAR MACHINE before next year, let alone in time for the movie disc release of IRON MAN. Augh. Fuggin' Styrene. Current Mood: determined |

Songs that have caught my ear lately... Not to take too many pages from zenkitty, but here's some songs that have caught my ear the past few days: Depeche Mode - "Behind the Wheel"Ah, this is what I like about Depeche Mode. It's pop music with some nefariously subversive darkness behind it. The lyrics sound sweet and innocent, but thinking about them further lets you see/hear their perverse nature. Intermix - "Dead Ladder"Intermix is an old, retired side-project of Front Line Assembly which started out focused toward House music. This caught my ear because I had been listening to DJ HEAVYGRINDER's album (courtesy of Joe) and was in the mood for some House music, and I remembered how good this album this was. There's no lyrics, but the "chorus" of this song is catchy as hell. Intronaut - "They (As In Them)"No linky, as this particular song I only have in a frotected pormat (hint hint). But listening to this makes me uber-excited for Intronaut's newest album which is coming out Sep. 16th. Opeth - "Hessian Peel"Just Opeth being Opeth, and that means good things. Again, I'm more of a sucker for their folky/bluesy songs, especially how those quieter sections set you up for the shock of death metal later in the song. Mouth of the Architect - "Rocking Chairs and Shotguns"I just picked up this album a couple weeks ago, and it's my first MotA album. This song is just phenomenally well-written, with the music in the vein of Isis. A winning combo in my opinion. Current Mood: happyCurrent Music: Mastodon - "Deep Sea Creature" |

Straight Ass It should come as no surprise, but I'm not going to Atlanta yet again. As specified last Friday, I've had quite the clusterfuck of a week, and it just doesn't look like it's going to let up. I even thought about taking ayashii's idea and flying, but I wouldn't be able to go until Friday evening at the earliest. Aaaaanyway, to those going, obviously have a good time -- but even more important, have a safe trip. Do a loud " Ein Prosit"(thanks yuffieleonheart for explaining that a year or two ago :D) for yours truly. lechuckscurse, I got the message. No worries about the 2nd copy of TIGER'09, but I'll stop by your store on Friday morning to get the one you set aside. Might as well put that extra $5 toward that single reserve. btw, I changed MGO SN to /BlackArtsViper Current Mood: busy |

Watched "Next Avengers: Heroes of Tomorrow" last night And I'm gonna go on record for saying this and I really mean it: It is Marvel's BEST Animated Movie to date. Better than Ultimate Avengers (or Ultimates Light). More entertaining than Dr Strange. And a MILLION times better than the god-awful Invincible Iron Man. The plot centers around the children of the Avengers. James, the son of Captain America and Black Widow. Pym, the son of Wasp and Giant Man. Azari, the son of Black Panther. Torunn, the daughter of Thor. And finally Burton, the son of Hawkeye. The story is that the Avengers were a great team of heroes who managed to vanquish their enemies and bring about peace. Afterwards the couples connected and eventually the children were born. But the arrival of Ultron altered things greatly and the Avengers were all but defeated. Tony Stark, the last Avenger takes the children into hiding, hoping they will one day continue the great work of their parents. More plot and spoilers in cut ( Read more... ) |
