Dear Sytrus, I heart you. [18 Jan 2005|01:49am] altgirldelete [ music | Winamp isn't playing anything. ] Looking back, I now realize how amazing the Sytrus plugin is. It's a very powerful and useful tool, but because it is so powerful and shiny, with that comes a price. A rather large price tag. $170 for a very very useful, studio quality program. I listen to my old music and remember when I would sit down for about 2 to 3 hours and write a song in Fruity Loops Demo Edition, not because I wanted to sit there for 2 to 3 hours to make it, but because I couldn't save the song and could only export it as an mp3. This plugin rocks. If yuo want to hear what it can do, "Battlefield Advance" and "Tombstone Defaced" exemplify it in all of its glory. 1 comment|post comment

I've been so lazy publishing these mp3's, but I've made at least 10 or so songs since I've let anyone know about where I hide them. I should upload more to MySpace... In case you're wondering, the reasons behind the titles of my songs are my own. In fact, there is no reasoning. It's really like this: what mood does this song give? What would amuse or catch the listener's ears and eyes? I try to do both. With the aid of reason, I may be taken more seriously as the months move on. :) post comment

Nigerian Spam-Scam [23 Oct 2004|04:57pm] altgirldelete To those of you who read the earlier post about the Nigerian Spam-Scam, you know that I've had some guy attempt to do that to me, very very unsuccessfully. When I say he tried, I mean that he e-mailed me and, because it had actually managed to get to my Yahoo! inbox, I decided to actually read it - on a whim. Because his message and subject content was so cliche and spam-oriented, "(my last name goes here) UNCLAIMED MONEY", opened it for laughs. As a joke, I responded, telling him that my last name is fairly common in the states, and that there is no way I could be the person he was looking for. He has since sent me four or five e-mails in a desperate attempt to contact me and proceed to scam me. Freaking loser. But here's the interesting part - my Yahoo! account (like any online account I have that required me to give my name, first and/or last) has the name "Doe, Jane" - yet he, in his subject in the initial e-mail, called me by my real name, and I had signed the first e-mail with my real name (since he already had it). The logic in this scam is simple, but inherently flawed with this HUGE glaring error - my name. If I was truly the one whom he was searching for, wouldn't it go without saying that in order to transfer funds, he would need my real name? Of course, he's not actually transferring funds - he's trying to get my vitals so he can spam/scam me. post comment

.ogg [26 Jul 2004|11:44pm] altgirldelete [ mood | accomplished ] [ music | Winamp isn't playing anything. ] I'm not sure who reads this journal, ever, but for those of you who do: NVCC (Northern Virginia Community College) has repeatedly deleted my Methods of Distraction files, and only because they are in mp3 format. To keep them compressed but also in a format that most (if not all, it shouldn't be a problem) can download and access, I have converted all mp3's to Ogg Vorbis to avoid the problem of their continued deletion. NVCC is not making sense, though it is a blanket rule. Explanation: NVCC must have some program that automatically deletes any file with a .mp3 extension. I have tried to keep my stuff up there, but it's a waste of time to keep uploading unless I have a surefire strategy. The Ogg-Vorbis format should be supported by players such as Winamp and Windows Media. If not, please check the Ogg-Vorbis website to make sure that you have the codec/appropriate crap to support the file. If you, for some odd reason, desire to have Methods of Distraction in .mp3 format, please message me on AIM at AkiRogue, and I will be glad to send you the songs in exchange for your soul. 1 comment|post comment

Either that or someone else did, but the liklihood of that occuring isn't as likely as the former. I'm in the process of uploading the songs but only full songs (as in none of the 30 second or shorter ones) will be uploaded. post comment
