WELCOME TO LJ'S FIRST DISCUSSION AND NEWS COMMUNITY FOR JAPANESE HARD ROCK/HEAVY METAL!
What we're about:
Hard rock and heavy metal (HR/HM) in general, especially Japanese HR/HM. That means while the focus is on Japanese HR/HM, discussion of non-Japanese HR/HM bands is cool too!
When it comes to Japanese bands, the main idea here is the "golden generation" of Japanese metal-- bands like Loudness, Anthem, Bow Wow/Vow Wow, etc.-- as well as their members' and ex-members' various other bands and projects. Of course, other kinds of Japanese HR/HM are very welcome too, absolutely including newer bands.
Keep in mind this means most of these bands have nothing whatsoever to do with visual kei and never did.
What we're NOT about:
Those frou-frou visual kei bands. If you like it, that's fine. A lot of us don't and will mock it like there's no tomorrow. And while it's OK to post about visual-HR/HM crossover bands, for your own sake we advise keeping the kawaii oshare lolita aristocrat tutu-wearers out of it: don't expect anyone to have anything nice to say about anything too prissy. If you're offended by people mocking visual kei, this is probably not the community for you. Remember, this is a metal community!
Not really HR/HM, but...
The maintainers sympathize with fans of not-popular-overseas "oldschool" and/or non-visual Japanese rock-oriented bands in general, even the ones that aren't really HR/HM. If you want to post about these kinds of bands, go for it!
