I'll try to put it all in a nutshell...

a) My entire family catches the DEATH

b) Husband gets the idea out of nowhere that we just don't "do" valentines day anymore.

c)After getting over the DEATH, we reinfect ourselves and discover that it's all because of tainted peanut butter

d)Flat tire on the way to the ER

e)Child support people decided to fine my husband 1500.00 for NOTHING, eventhough his ex has been getting her checks and the money has been taken out of our account every week as it should be

f)Federal income tax refund came back 1200.00 short

GOOD TIMES!

last wednesday i thought i had a paper due this monday. turned out it was that wednesday. i whip it up and turn it in, so thats not a problem BUT.
that meant the video presentation for our group was due that monday instead of wednesday

SO
i write the plot on thursday, ad-lib it during filming on friday.
i havent touched imovie in years but i figure i can get back into it.

BUT

the camera i shot it on was on a format imovie did not accept

SO

i learn a movie editing program called adobe premiere all by myself. i took all weekend to edit a 13 minute movie together. hours to learn how to add text or anything else that wasnt immediately obvious. so thats lots of little obstacles already.

it's done sunday at 8

BUT

something is wrong with my dvd burner.
after trying it different ways for three hours since it always takes 20-25 minutes into the burning process for it to mess up, i take it to a friends house to burn it right at 11pm.

MEANWHILE

my friend is doing an essay topic where her research materials are online but the site is down. the essay was due the next day so she calls me all emergency-like telling me she needs my campus library, we jet over there but are unable to find what she needs, she's forced to do the boring alternative to the assignment and was forced to give up writing on one of her favorite authors.

damn.

HAHAH FUCK.

I've been waiting on a new laptop battery since the very beginning of October when they said it would take 1-2 weeks to ship here.

-I've lost the recipt
-I called the store today. I asked to speak to the computers technician who ordered my battery. Customer Service informed me that it was said technician's last day working there, and no one had actually seen him in a week.

LOLZ.

Fuck, fuck, FUCK you Mercury.

Stupid Mercury Retrograde!

I feel like I always suffer the worst from it...

last week, my ibook's screen started flickering. then it went completely dark. so i made an appointment to take it in to the Apple Store to have it looked at. I took it with me to work during the day, so that I could just go straight after work to the store. i open it up during the day, and it works! so i called the Apple Store and they said to bring it in just in case, but I was busy so I didn't bother.
it was completely fine, until two nights ago, it went dark again! so last night i took it to the Apple Store, and I opened it up for the Tech guy, and it was completely fine!!! "I can't fix something that isn't broken", he said. but it WAS broken!!! so he opened it up and looking it over but EVERYTHING seemed fine! i am blaming the Mercury Retrograde for this!! SO FRUSTRATING!!

also dealing with alot of miscommunication and confusion with friends and an ex-boyfriend. boo.

Computer Problems

*sigh* All I had to do was click my INternet Explorer icon and I would have been automatically connected. When Wayne fixed my computer last night he did it in such a way that there was no Sympatico icon on my desktop. I didn't see it so I didn't know I cuold access it automatically. Last night and this morning I phoned the technician and both times I gave up after half an hour of being put on hold while having to endure the most boring music imaginable. What do they do, go out of their way to deliberately choose something that makes the time slow down while we're waiting for them.

So at least Wayne phoned back just a few minutes ago to tell me all I had to do was click on INternet Exploreer and I'd be already connected! I feel kind of stupid for not thinking of this on my own. It has been one ridiculous weekend for stupid computer crap happening. Are we SURE Mercury is out of retrograde?

It would obviously seem I've had more weird stuff go wrong since AFTER July 29th! Starting with that huge thunder storm that put our power out for three hours. I could not get my computer started since. The surge protector wouldn't turn back on so I went out and bought a new one. I plugged the new one in. It wouldn't work either. It turns out that it wasn't the surge protector, it was the lower half of the outlet. We have these stupid safety plugs that the fire department made our landlord install. He's on vacation so we had to call his brother. His brother isn't a very pleasant guy, in fact he's always nagging Sergio to sell our house. He showed me that all I had to do was push the little button. I was pushing it, just not hard enough. I probably didn't need to buy a new surge protector after all if I'd known all that.

If that isn't bad enough, my printer jammed in the middle of a document. I was waiting for it to start when I realized I had a typo and when I tried to correct it, I corrupted the file, which caused it to jam. This was a mess I could not get out of without the help of a repairman so I had to call Wayne at computer 9-11. It took him about an hour to fix.

After he left I go to use the computer later in the night. No Sympatico icon! How am I supposed to connect to the Internet without it, which brings us back to the begining of this story. I hope nothing else goes wrong. I feel so stupid!

Bad Ol' Puddy Tat!!

Well, well. Here I am. I've been 42 for less than 24 hours now and shortly after midnight I had to get bitten by a cat. Dave and I saw the cat earlier when his dad brought us back home and it was in front of our house. It came right up to us and seemed to enjoy being patted, but then it hissed at me.

Later this evening while we were sitting out on the porch the cat came to visit us again. It seemed friendly enough but then suddenly withour warning it jumped up and sank its teeth into my arm. At first I didn't think any damage was done but soon two small droplets of blood appeared on the surface of my skin. I went into the bathroom to wash the wound and clean it with a generous dose of rubbing alcohol and put band-aids over each hole. When I went to sit back down again I noticed two more puncture wounds lower down, on the other side of my arm. At least they weren't bleeding but I put alcohol on them anyway. That little bugger gave me quite a chomp. I don't think he can be trusted after this.

Today's the day Mercury is supposed to be moving out of retrograde...

Mercury-Related Woes!!!

GRRRRR! I can't wait for all ths to be over! I lost my watch nearly a week ago. It's GOT to be around this house somewhere but it STILL hasn't turned up.

Last night at about 3:30 in the morning my TIgger poster fell off the wall and if that wasn't enough the stupid fan broke down. It still works but not very safely. The stupid plastic part that attatches it to the top of its pole broke so it's pretty much useless. I had to take the smaller fan from the kitchen which is less poserful, but twice as noisy.

Aunt Flo is giving me issues agani too. I wish she'd make up her mind. I know I've pretty much been like this for the last 5 or 6 years but she's worse when Mercury is in retrograde. I've learned to live with her irrattic, indecisive visits rather than submit myself to anymore squicky invasive tests and/or annoying pills that have fucked up my body's chemistry even more. As long as I'm not gushing like a stuck pig for my birthday festivities.

I've had my share of computer frustrations too. The other day my Internet Service refused to connect. I tried calling the INternet Service Providers to speak to a technician but was put on hold. Usually they play music and give you a recorded message at regular intervals. Well they stpped the music and just kept repeating the message over and over again so I gave up and hung up. Lucky for me it gave me the initiative to get off my butt and work on those sewing projects I've kept putting off.

Last week I typed a document and got a pop-up from Microsoft that said something about technical difficulties. When I got rid of the pop-up, my entire document disappeared right along with it! I had already had a basd day to begin with so this was the straw that broke the camel's back. Ever scream so hard you've nearly passed out and then it takes a moment to remember what you were doing?

And on Saturday I was working on a piece of artwork. I resaved it with a few minor changes and tried to delete the rough copy and BOTH copies disappeared! AAAARRRGH!!

ANd you know that little window that's supposed to appear when you reply to an LJ comment in your email box. For a couple days that wasn't there. At least now I know how to find my post by going directly to the website, but this lack of window display is one of those things that ALWAYS happens when Mercury is in Retrograde!!

Anybody Got a Sledgehammer??

GRRRRR! COmputers! Mercury sure seems to be having a field day with them these days. I finished my essay for the Autism Acceptance program, miraculously without any problems, but I just finished a piec of artwork in MS Paint and it's disappeared!! I've had enough of things disappearing on me lately! My computer is running low on RAM and I have a book I am writing. I am scared to touch my manuscript in case it gets eaten like this last picture I worked so hard on and the letter I typed the other day. Yeah, I was typing this letter and all of a sudden this annoying pop-up came on my screen saying that Microsoft was expperienceing technical difficulties and blablabla. When I tried to get rid of that dialogue box it took the letter I was writing right along with it. I was already having a bad day to begin with so right then and there I just lost it and let out the biggest longest scream possible until I nearly passed out on my keyboard and I was momentarily discombobulated like "WTF just happened here?"

I've been an emotional basket case since Wednesday. Friday was one of those horrible days when I couldn't stop crying. I'm scared that if I ever get a real job the folks at the next office might not be as understanding as the folks I work with now.

When Sherrie drove me home she mentioned that a lot of people haven't been feeling like themselves lately.

I get to work on the bok I am writing at the office where I volunteer but the computer I'm supposed to do it on STILL hasn't been set up. The guy who's supposed to fix it was supposed to come on Wednesday but last time they needed something done by hi they had to wait TWO MONTHS!?? Hello, that's inexcuseable. If I had to wait that long I'd be hiring SOMEBODY ELSE!! If we have to wait that long this time, my volunteer placement will almost be finished by the time he shows up!!!

Well, so far the car has been driveable, but still makes that noise. Like a popping noise. I found out that it was (probably) the axle starting to go bad, but that the car would still be driveable, just annoying, for at least long enough to make my trip tomorrow.

I just don't understand how, if it is the axle, the noise only started after they put a brand new tire on there, and not before. I didn't make a noise on the drive up to the garage, but it started as soon as we hit a bump on our way home.

It's gonna set me back like $200 if that's what it is, not to mention I'm having to borrow $100 from my twin for tomorrow's trip. I kinda regret not getting a job now. Though, it hasn't been a problem until now...

Speaking of, Adam (neighbor/friend) and I have been looking and searching for a hotel that will allow cheap bastards such as ourselves to rent a room for only one night. Almost all of them only allow 21 and up, and the ones that do allow 18, a night's rent is $80 and up. We don't have that much. We were looking for something like $50, since we're both broke and I'm without job until I move to college!town.

But we took our woes about legality and age to Mr. Mason, the band director, and he called around and got us a room for $65... which we don't have yet. I love the man for it, though, because it was with a hotel that we'd tried before that had denied us and Mr. Mason used his credit card to vouch for us (in the event that we destroy the room, apparently) and hold the room until we get there.

Ye gads, I hope I can get that money.

In other news... we're driving to pick up secret_savior tomorrow, instead of Sunday. Obviously, because of our rooming woes. I sure hope Mercury has some mercy on us, and my car, tomorrow.

Anyone else just turn into a psycho during Mercury retrogrades?!?!? I notice this is a pattern that follows! ARGGHHH! And I'm a Virgo, so, yay. My nervous energy increases like, ten-fold, I can't sleep very well, and I want to run screaming from every little thing! (You know, more than the usual Virgo running screaming from things) Instead of wreaking havoc upon objects around me, besides the shocks on my car that go "squeak-squeak" ever since the retrograde began, it's doing things to MEEEE!! I can't handle it anymore!

just some ranting...

this is the first time ive really ever payed attention to the Mercury Retrograde and wow, i really do believe now.

a week ago my dad's car died on the highway....he had to have his alternator and battery fixed. then yesterday he was driving and was rear ended and the alternator got knocked out again because it wasnt properly installed in the first place!! gahh.

my mom and sister got new cell phones: both of them have had trouble setting up their voicemail ever since. when my dad had his accident yesterday he tried calling all of us and none of us heard or the calls just didnt go through.

so many other things..those are just the things that stick out right now.

but it was interesting, i looked up the previous Mercury Retrograde, back in March, and it's interesting because for those exact weeks, my College teachers were on strike and so i was out of school for those three weeks and i remember they were horrible, i was incredibly lazy and tense and everything seemed to go wrong. its so wierd looking back, it lasted pretty much the whole length of that Mercury Retrograde. wow.

Grumblegrumblegrumble

My stupid computer is giving me issues. I hate when I try to adjust the volume while I am trying to wait for the Internet to connect and I somehow end up leaving trail of volume control switches with my cursor! I ended up having to UNPLUG the damn thing and start over! GRRR!!

And when I came home from work today my mom phoned. I really wasn't in the mood to talk to ANYONE, but ESPECIALLY not her! I had a bad afternoon at work. Sabrina was helping me go over my resume and it hashed up a lot of unpleasant memories, plus I'd never used a laptop before. This caused me to go into sensory overload and I had a meltdown. Bad Aspie moments suck! ANd my mom does SO NOT GET it when I try to explain these things to her. "Oh you shouldn't let these things get to you!" Hello? I can't help it. That's the way my brain works.

To top it off, the ringer on the kitchen phone was on! It's never on! WHy would it be on? NOBODY turns it on! It was right next to me and it scared the crap out of me when she called!!!

And of course, Aunt Flo has kept trying to come early this week. I am having the worst PMS in ages.

I didn't even bother with supper tonight. After I got done on the computer I just went to bed early and wanted to hide from the rest of the world!!!

Mercury is beginning to mess with me again, right at the time when I need all the luck I can get. I'm not so much in the good luck department when it comes to cars, and Mercury's activities aren't helping things.

Here's the deal.

I'm supposed to go pick up secret_savior from Louisville, Kentucky, in approximately 4 days. Something doesn't seem to want me to go.

I was only supposed to get two new front tires for my car because of normal wear and tear, and went and had them put on at Wally World.

As soon as I hit a bump in the road on the way home, there was a metal-on-metal slipping/grinding noise coming from the driver's wheel area. Not cool. I dropped down to about 2 miles an hour and listened to it for the rest of the way home, trying to figure out what it could be (although I admit that there was some pleasure taken in the hateful looks the line of cars behind me were shooting in my direction for going so slow). Luckily, it didn't do it constantly, but only when I hit a bump or had to put a significant amount of pressure on the brakes or sterring wheel.

The neighbor and I took the car back to have the WM people look at it again (for free, psh) and they said nothing was wrong with it, though I am skeptical as to whether they actually took the tire off to look or if they only took the short test drive before deciding not to deal with it.

It still makes the nice metal/metal sound, and I can feel it in the floorboard when it happens. Something certainly seems wrong to me, and it only happened after they put that new tire on there.

I'm driving for at least 10 hours to and from Kentucky on Sunday.

I don't need these sounds 4 days before I'm supposed to leave, Mercury.

There's been an advancement in my computer problems!!!!

Well, kind of.

The good news: MY COMPUTER IS STILL FUNCTIONING!
The bad news: THE SCREEN LIGHT WILL NOT COME ON.

Which I suppose is better than it being broken. Think of it as a cellphone with a dimmer, only the dimmer makes it really, really black, with only a couple colored specks.

So Merky, baby, PLEASE. Let it be easily fixable. For cheap. I'm on vacation. Let me not have to spend my Montreal shopping money on my lappy.

Remember me, the rad/stolen phone person?

Well, Rogers sent me a new phone and though they didn't have to they were really good about it.

It showed up and the backlight on the display didn't work. Go figure. A broken (brand new) phone! :-)

I dropped it by accident, and the light came on. I've sent it back anyway because I'm sure in 3 months when we go retrograde again it will break and by that time I'll be out of warranty.

My new alternator fan belt is making noise like the last one. I'm hoping it'll stop when merc goes direct.

A Tad Disgruntled...

I came home wanting to do a bit of vacuuming in the hallway in front of the bathroom, but surprise, surprise, we seem to have blown a fuse. At first I thought the power was off, but no, it's just that particular outlet just inside the bathroom door where I normally plug in the vacuum cleaner when I vacuum that area! I'm too lazy/tired to hunt around for another outlet so I'm just going to let it be until Dave gets home. He's the one who knows how to fix this sort of thing. Besides one of us has to be upstairs to make sure it is working. THis outlet being on the fritz also means I can't do any sewing because it's the one place where I also plug in my sewing machine.

In other Mercury-related news, on Friday the GO-train derailed just west of Toronto's Union station tying things up in BOTH directions! Thank God I don't commute anymore or I'd have been stranded in the city!
