How to stop bloating...?

I'm heading out of town for my boyfriend's graduation and my twenty-first birthday* next weekend--which is, of course, when I'm scheduled to either start my period or start bloating. I'm a slim girl, so it's very obvious when I'm retaining water and I really want to look like myself and wear clothes that flatter and so... is there any kind of pill I can take so I don't bloat up as much or at all? I know I should stay away from salty foods, but is there anything else (food-wise, exercise-wise) I can do to keep from bloating up?
Thanks in advance.

Urgent (and yet impossible?) question!

Hi,
I like to consider myself really knowledgable about my womb and body and blood.
But I have a potentially silly question to ask.
I feel my uterus tweaking, my pelvis is aching. I'm pretty sure (knock on wood) that i'm going to start bleeding within 24 hours. Normally I welcome my blood, but I need it to give me at least another day.
I know that you can take parsley to induce menses, but is there ANYTHING that I can swallow, insert (lol), rub...... ANYTHING to hold it off?
Thank you thank you thank you for any response, even telling me that I'm out of my mind!Current Mood: annoyed

birth control question

Since I was finishing my thesis and managed to forget to order the refills for my birth control. I had my period last week and I'm supposed to start a new pack tonight... but I don't have a new pack... and won't have it for a few days. I haven't been off the pill in 6 years....
So my question is this: Should I order the pills but wait until after my next period before starting them up again since I'll have them 4 or more days late? :P it won't really be sunday-start once I get them so I might as well wait another month. I won't be having sex this month anyway, I'm pretty sure. I'm just a little nervous about not being on them since I've been on them for 6 years.... terrified my next period will be some ghastly bloody explosion! hahaha. not used to those anymore :P
Or is there a way to take the first white pill the 2nd sunday after your period? or is that just pointless and I should wait.
If I had a doctor I was familiar with I would just call them tomorrow morning and have them call my pharmacy and I could just take two pills tomorrow night and be fine. But I've only been to this Manhattan doctor once and she has a million patients and last time I called it took her two days to get back to me so that would be pointless too... oy
Really, I'm just confused about to do. Someone just tell me to order them online as always and just wait a month before starting a new pack and not to worry about a scary period! :P Also, I don't want it to destroy my lovely cycle D:Current Mood: annoyed

Missing Periods and Hypothyroidism

|
First off, I want to say that I am not pregnant. Second, I have Hashimoto's Thyroiditis, causing hypothyroidism. In January and March, my periods were so light that I didn't even need a panty liner. In February and April, I didn't even get my period at all. Besides being pregnant, what could be causing this? I've read that hypothyroidism is supposed to increase bleeding, not decrease it. I can't take birth control pills because they make me really depressed. Any suggestions? |

Birth control question

I've been taking birth control (Kariva) for about a year and a half for menstrual regularity. This hasn't typically been any problem for me, until now. My prom is on May 17th, and according to my pills, I'd be on my period. I really don't want this to happen--I just hate the idea of having to change my tampon and carry them in my purse, etc.
My question: is there any way I could NOT have my period that week? Would it be possible for me to take the period pills next week and then take the ones I should be taking next week the week after? I know that sounds confusing, but hopefully some of you got it.
I usually don't have a period unless a take the pills, if that helps any. Thanks! |

x-posted to vaginapagina Do you ever catch the scent of your body and just feel really comforted by it? Sometimes (when I'm not unclean and I'm healthy) I notice that I smell warm, sweet, earthy...womanly. It's an almost intoxicating scent. My sweat, my girly parts, my breasts, my hair...whatever. I really like it. Tell me I'm not crazy?

I have my first STD/STI test next week and have just realised my period is due that day. Sometimes I'm a few days out, but mainly not. So what do I do? Can I have the check done while I'm on my period? Do I call up tomorrow [closed now] and cancel, or do I hope I'm not on? I'm clueless bascially and all I've been told is that I can't pee for 2 hours before it...
Help?

For the past 3 months, my period has lasted a really long time. It was always 4 or 5 days from beginning to end, but lately it's been more like.. closing in on 2 weeks.. This time around, it started really lightly, and then suddenly stopped.
Has anyone experienced anything like that before? Or have any idea what could be going on? It's stressing me out, especially this time with it being all "Hey, I'm here.. oh wait, just kidding.."
Is there any way that I could be pregnant and start a period like that, and have it just disappear?
Sorry for all the dumb questions-- just stressing and wondering what other people have to say.

Can being very active cause your period to be lighter and shorter?
When I was a much heavier weight, I was a heavy bleeder. I have awful painful cramps and the flow lasted 5 to 6 days. I've been on a diet and started exercising for a year and I finally got to my goal weight of 135 this month. I've noticed for the past 2 to 3 months that my periods were very lighter in flow and only lasted like 3 or 4 days. I still have my cramps, but they're not as bad.
I know I'm not pregnant; my only sexual experience was giving my (now ex) boyfriend oral sex in December and I want to wait till marriage to have intercourse...but I ended up taking 9 h.p.ts between December and March because no one believed me (even though I was having my periods...of course they were all negative). So unless I'm the next virgin Mary, we can rule that factor out :-p
I still want to work out; but only to build muscle and get my body fat down a bit more. I've read about how some female athletes lose their periods completely, but I can't find anything that supports the lighter, shorter periods theory.
I'm not really complaining; compared to what I was use it, this has been kinda nice. :-) But it has concerned me slightly. Is it possible that too much exercise can make your period lighter and shorter?

| » Nuvaring question! Somewhat urgent! |
Okay, so I was off birth control completely this past month to give my body a break (I had my period for 4 weeks last month!) I'm due to start Nuvaring again tomorrow, BUT that would mean that I'll have my period for the ONE night when my roommate is gone (April 19th) which means my boyfriend and I have the room to ourselves all night, something that never ever ever happens and I really don't want to waste the opportunity. So it seems my two options are: 1. Put the Nuvaring in right now, and put a new one in early in the day on the 19th, or even the day before, so my period stops before the evening of the 19th OR 2. Delay my period that month, but I'm not sure if that will royally fuck me up and/or backfire since it's only my first month back on hormones.
HELP! PLEASE! I'll be eternally grateful.

| » hello ovary (or: why i hate ovulating) |
does anyone else get horrific ovulations pains on one side? mine seem to be on my right side only, and last 2-4 hours one day a month (or perhaps that's just how long it takes the painkillers to work?), if i have them. it seems to extend down through my digestive system, since it's worse when i go to the bathroom and if there is any sudden pressure change to my butt (ie: when i stand up or sit down, i nearly fall over from the pain). they're bad enough that they wake me/keep me up at night.
history: i first had this pain at 13, 2 weeks before i started my first period. it was bad enough that my parents took me to the ER to check for appendicitis. at 16, i went on birth control and was blissfully ovulation free until i was 24, at which time i got a mirena IUD and kept it for a little under a year. since removing my IUD in june, the terrible ovulation pains have returned.
some months i don't have any pain at all, i suppose i'm ovulating from my left side when this happens. any suggestions? i drink raspberry tea on a fairly frequent basis. in a perfect world, i'd draw a hot bath and lay around with a heating pad on my tummy all day, but unfortunately i have a 9-5 job, so on days like today, i just had to suck it up and come to work. this is way, way worse than my periods, which yield a day of mild-medium cramping easily resolved by a few ibuprofen. my ovulations are getting to the point that they're intolerable. can i get my right ovary removed? i refuse to go back on the pill (migraines and mood swings), so that's not really an option. :(

| » Really, really late period... |
This is similar to the below post, but I'm really frustrated and need to ask. After forgetting to re-order my OrthoTriCyclin last October, my period has been scarcely seen since. My last regular period (on BCP) started October 17, and after that, I went almost two months before getting my period again. At this time, I still didn't have my pills, because I was waiting to go home over Christmas break and see my regular gynecologist for a refill.
Anyway, I haven't had my period since then, and that was sometime in early December. I've taken three pregnancy tests since then, and I'm not pregnant, but I really want to have my period so I can go back on the pill. My complexion has gotten really bad :(
Has anyone else had a three+ month gap between periods after going off BCP? Does parsley tea really work?

| » weight gain from birth control and late periods |
I stopped taking "Quasense" birth control pills (they are the ones that make you have a period every four months) in December of this last year, 2007. Since then I have been having problems with my periods for the last two and a half months. Now my periods have been consistently 3 to 4 days late at least. The reason why I stopped the birth control pills is because they were making me gain a lot of weight and I couldn't lose that weight even when I was on a very good diet and exercise regime. Since I have stopped the pills, I haven't been able to lose any of the weight. What I want to know is, why are my periods happening later and later than they are supposed to? Is this happening because I stopped taking the birth control? Has anyone had this happen before?

| » Menstrual cups! |
I know there is a ton of info about these on here because I checked some of the memories first... BUT... I have a specific question, so I might as well ask it. My boyfriend and I are going backpacking for a couple months starting in June and because I'll need to pack light, there is no way that I'm going to be able to take tampons or pads... That, and I'm trying to stop using tampons and disposable pads altogether (yay environmentally friendly). Anyway, does anyone think that using a menstrual cup would be my best bet? I'm going to start making my own pads, but I think it will be easier to clean a menstrual cup than a reusable pad.
Also, am I able to purchase menstrual cups at a regular store... like a grocery store or something? Or am I going to have to order them online?

I have a question about hot flashes. I've been having them for about a year and a half, maybe two years, and they are progressively getting worse. I am going to see my gynocologist about them, but my question is this:
How do you cope with them?
They've gotten to the point I feel nauseated because I'm so hot so fast. Even shedding clothes and using ice doesn't cool my body down fast enough. The worst hot flashes normally occur around my period and can last from five minutes to three hours. When they're done I either get super cold or I feel completely drained.
I am fishing for techniques because it's especially hard to deal with them in the middle of a class. My face becomes very flushed and I feel like I'm resonating heat. Luckily the longest flashes come late in the day, so the ones during class are shorter and easier to handle, but I'm afraid I'm actually going to vomit during one of them without warning.
Any help is much appreciated.

| » Mom doesn't understand... |
My mom told me a while back that if I ever wanted to get on birth control all I had to do was talk to her. Well...I mentioned it. She automatically said no. I need it. I am sexually active and have been for a while. I don't want a kid right now nor anytime in the near future. And I definately don't trust condoms. Mom doesn't know I'm sexually active...Well, I haven't told her that is, but she's not stupid. I'm pretty sure she has kind of figured it out since me and my boyfriend spend a lot of time in my room with the door locked. And it's not just about the sex issue. I have serious menstrual symptoms: bloating, serious cramps, heavy flow, ect. So if I got certain brith control pills, like Yaz, I could get rid of those problems or at least deminish them a little. How can I talk my mom into letting me get on birth control? ...Without her abolishing my social life (With my boyfriend and the male race in general)?

| » Question?? |
I wasn't sure if this would be a correct community to ask the question or if it was supposed to be asked in more of sex related community but here goes...I'll try to make it short and brief.
Last month I had my period the regular time. Then 2 weeks later me and my b/f had sex and it brought on my period(obviously early if there was only 2 wks between). I had it my regular 5 day cycle and everything was normal.
Now I was do for my period a week ago and it is AWOL. I don't have any pregnancy signs that I can tell... & if it was spotting from the previous mon. I would think I would have some prego signs by now.
So my question is my cycle just being weird or could it be possible pregnancy?
Please & Thank you any thought would be appreciated.

|
Hi ladies,
I have always had obnoxious periods, but last year it was getting to the point where I would constantly have cramps. I had an ultrasound done & it turned out I had 45 cysts on my ovaries (20 on one, 25 on the other). Since then, I have switched from regular BCP to continous (skip the placebos & just keep taking the pills). So in theory, I would no longer get my period. However, I got my period in December around when my grandfather died. Due to the nature, I thought it was brought on mainly by stress. Well, it's February & I have my period again. --Now let me say when I was getting my period, it was light & lasted for maybe 5 days max.-- NOW however (and during my period in December) my period is EXTREMELY heavy with clumps of blood & everything. Also, I have awful cramps (not unusual) but the big thing is my period in December lasted 9 days. I'm on day 6 of my current period. What is going on with my body?! If anyone has any suggestions, please, PLEASE send them my way.
Thanks! Peace & love <3
