Cycle will start in 5 days. It's always on time but I'm really scared of the pain. It was so bad the last two times... I'm just terrified. I won't get to see the doctor another month since that was the soonest they had. I'm taking advil twice a day. I'm going to cut back on caffine a little (very hard for me)  um... drink water ... what else can I do.

I'm really scared.

UPDATE: they moved up my appointment! I may be OK.

Early period on modicon Jun. 21st, 2009 @ 03:46 pm

I'm taking Modicon and I have for some time. I've never had anything but a normal period while on the pill but this month it came an entire week early. It stopped last night, is finished today and at 5pm I should be taking the first placebo pill BUT because of this situation should I finish the pack and take the placebo pills (all 7 are intact, i finished the last white one yesterday) or break out a new pack and take them since I had my regular period?

I've tried google, but I really couldn't find an answer. And my clinic is closed, I didn't think about this until last night.

Weight loss and menstruation Jun. 16th, 2009 @ 03:41 pm
[info]juniorcrone
Hi everyone,

I'm new to the community, and I have a question about the effects of gradual weight loss on menstruation/menstrual flow. If this line of inquiry is inappropriate for this community, please let me know and I will delete this post.

In the last eight months, I decided to get ahead of my New year's resolutions (in November, no less) and began going to the gym on a more regular basis in order to lose weight and become more toned through safe and healthy means. In doing so, quite predictably, I lost quite a bit of body fat. However, I've also noticed an unexpected side effect: I found that the more inches I lose, the more pronounced my menstrual symptoms get. By this I mean that my flow increases, and I get a lot more tired and irritable than I am used to. At this point I should probably mention that I've done stints like this in the past where I lost inches through a change of diet (by eating healthy, I don't ever starve myself) and through regular exercise, and would feel similar menstrual effects. The first time this happened was when I lost 40 pounds at age 21 in order to get in shape to get into a police training academy, then again at age 25 when,to my dismay, I found myself having gained back the extra 40 pounds through stress and inadequate lifestyle habits (simultaneoulsy working full-time and going to grad school, etc). Now, at age 30, I am almost at my goal weight, but the pronounced symptoms I feel at the end of my cycle are off-putting enough that in my moments of weakness I sometimes ask myself if I should consider slowing down my exercise/weight loss routine.

Does anyone here know if there is a rational, medical explanation for what I am experiencing? I mean, could it be that fat-soluble hormones are being re-released into my blood stream and making my menstrual symptoms worse? Or is this just some weird concidence?

I am quite puzzled by this, and would appreciate any insight/advice on how to deal with these unexpected side effects.

» I have never been very good at keeping track of my last period
And last night I had sex with a boy I am not dating. When he pulled out the condom was no where to be found on him.. it was inside of me. It was not mangled, or pushed in, it was inside of me as though he pulled out and the condom slipped out right then, in the same direction as he had while it was on, if that makes any sense. So things got awkward, and we did not end up discussing whether he came or if he felt a difference. Nothing. We just kind of pushed the subject off of the surface, though I am sure it was in both of minds for the remainder of the night. I think I am due for my period mid-June*. Like, maybe in the next week or two. What is the likelihood of myself getting pregnant? I kind of already feel the effects of my period, such as being emotional and a little bloated. Should I be worried... or should I just let time tell? I know it is silly, but I don't feel up to wasting 40 dollars on a morning after pill if I might get my period in a week or less.
» Inducing period
I've read posts about inducing menstruation using parsley (or ginger). I'd like to try this, but I'm concerned that doing so may cause my IUD to expel, since emmenogogues cause uterine contractions and dilation of the cervix.

Does anyone have experience with inducing a period with herbs while having an IUD, or have any insight as to whether or not inducing a period would affect an IUD at all?

Thanks so much!
» living in fear of my next period.
I get very severe and debilitating cramps at the onset of my period. They last for 2-5 hours. During them I break out in a cold sweat, I cannot walk or stand, My legs tremble the pain shoots up and down my inner things and back. I often vomit and have other gastro-issues that make the pain worse. It is the worst pain I ever encounter in my life. I often just want to die so that the pain will just stop. It has caused me to miss work and school. I have ended up on the sidewalk just lying there in pain. I live in dread of the time it will return.

I have tried EVERYTHING that they recommend.

1. I take Advil on the days leading up.
2. I try a heat pad if I can get one but I'm in to bad shape to do anything, often.
3. I drink water.
4. I excercise.
5. I avoid caffeine.
6. I keep booze to a min.
7. I try to breathe deeply and relax.

I made it through the cramps this morning and I'm more determined than ever NOT to let it happen again. I really just can't live with this! I'm so scared of being in pain like that again. I made an appointment to see the gyno... but it's for July 28! So, I'll have to face the cramps alone AGAIN and I just don't know if I can.

I've been brushed of too many time before and this time I'm going to insist that something be done. Frankly, if noting can be done I need a strong pain killer to get me through the 4 hours of hell I face every single month. I hope that the doctor will listen. I have a calendar that I've been using to track this problem for the past few months. I'm going to bring that. How else can I get her to listen?

And what can I do 28 days from now when this hits me again? I feel better now but I'm already dreading the pain.
» menstruation two weeks after starting on the pill?
Hi, I'm not scared I'm pregnant :) Just kind of befuzzled by what my body is doing, and I was hoping someone could tell me.

I had rather unexpected, unprotected sex two weeks ago, on the last day of my period. I though it might become a regular thing, so I started taking the pill again the next day. I thought I remember my doctor telling me that I was supposed to start taking it right after my period, but afterward I realized I was supposed to start taking it on the first day of my period. Could anyone tell me if I'm protected right now? My pill is called Yasminelle.

Now for the confusing part. I haven't had sex since then (our relationship is kind of stormy). Yesterday I suddenly started having my period again. Usually my cycle takes a bit over month, so two weeks is really short. I also don't have cramps at all. Is this because I started taking the pill? I didn't think it could, really. I guess I'm mostly worrying that maybe I did become pregnant at that time, and now it is being aborte, so to speak, because I started taking the pill. Crazy idea, but yeah. Anyone?
» Itching After Period.
Alright, I just got off my period about two days ago and ever since my vagina has been itching and burning. Not only on the inside but my skin is irritated too. There Is no discharge or anything and I doubt it could be a yeast infection. Plus I was using scented pads so I'm wondering if that could of irritated it too. The first three days I was wearing my normal pads, everything was normal but then my mom bought Always scented and I used those for the last two days. Now it's itching and burning. There is NO way I can get to a vagina doctor either so please, help?
» Parsley Tea Inducing Periods Experience
Hi there everyone, I am very new on Live Journal and was reading over a past post on Parsely tea to induce periods.
I thought that as I am trying to get my period asap and subsequently undergo the parsley tea shenanigan - I would document it.

Here's the situation:

* I am 17, in final year of high school. In absolutely no way shape or form do I want a pregnancy right now!
* I have a boyfriend who I have been with for over 6 months and have recently started more serious "heavy petting".
* There was an incredibly low low low chance I could be pregnant, due to pre-cum on my outer vagina. I took a Clear Blue Digital pregnancy test this morning for peace of mind and it says I am not pregnant. I will take another one in a week to confirm.
* My periods are usually like a clock, on the 25th every month - last month it came very early on the 17th.
* Because I am so sure I am not pregnant, but my period is nearly a week late - I am giving parsley tea (quick, non-invasive) a go.
* I am also incredibly stressed with mid year exams and art folio's due - I am so stressed I cannot sleep, my eating habits have become unhealthy due to stress and I even think my hair is becoming very weak and falling out when I brush it. STRESS. This has happened before when I was very stressed going through parents divorce.

SO I have obtained dried parsley flakes, made hot (not boiling) water, and put a sieve with parsley flakes over the top of a large mug and poured hot water through the flakes & sieve.  This made great tea, with a little bit of really fine parsley in the bottom that settles, and a liquid to put it crudely that looks a little like green tea/urine.
The taste is a bit like.... grass. or hay. or horse food. What you imagine a rabbit would just go nutty for. Someone described it as peppery hay - very true. I added white sugar (a LOT), cinnamon sugar and a few drops of vanilla essence to make it taste better.

I also heard that you could improvise with tampons/parsley tea/pessery type deal? But I think I might stick to my previous comment of loving how un-invasive tea was. I am aiming to drink 4 cups a day. I am going to take another pregnancy test on the 26th of June.
I think this is due to stress and simply a late period sorting itself out, but I am so paranoid that I simply want the peace of mind that I am not pregnant and that I have a period.
I guess every girl wants to feel like they're going to be okay. Hopefully parsley wants that for me too.

Any comments, experiences you've had with parsley/ making your period come sooner/ ideas/ thoughts/ 'you're not alone's/ stop worry/ things you want to say I would love to hear about from you. Like I said I'm very new so I don't really know anyone :)
Thanks for reading.  :)

» HELP
Hi, this isn't Bree (the owner of this journal) this is her husband.
I am writing because we need some serious help here and we need it quick.
Bree has always had hardcore debilitating menstrual cramps, like so bad she can't move. She went on birth control to... well control them. But obviously she still has to go through periods... periodically. Normally her cramps are manageable. But this time NOTHING we are doing is helping at all!
I gave her some prescription strength ibprufen, the kind I have to take for my serious back pains. It helped yesterday but not today.
We usually put something warm on her abdomen and it usually helps but this time NOTHING we put on there (even the heating pad or her ghetto overheated laptop) is helping.
I even put her in a warm-hot bath for 20 minutes and still nothing.
I'm freaking out here and out of options. I'm a guy and so .... well pretty damn useless at the whole cramping thing, and so I have no idea what to do.

I'm sorry if this is the type of thing you guys get a lot or if it's not allowed. If that's the case, mod, you can delete this. I'm just really worried and hate to see my girl in pain like this and she said I could post here to ask for help under her LJ. So if you can, please give us some advice.
Thanks.

[EDIT]

This is Bree. I made an appointment for a consultation on Thursday to figure this out. Thank you for all of the tips and advice; I'm going to add them all to my period management toolbox.

Thanks again!

» very late period +negative pregnancy test
Okay, long story short, I had a very short light period starting on february 21st, one that could have easily been implantation bleeding, so I took a pregnancy test because I'd rather know asap if I'm pregnant. It was negative, as I assumed it would be, and I went on with my life. Then March came, and my period hadn't showed up so when it was 2 weeks late, I took another test. I had originally bought a box of answers pregnancy tests that came with 2 so I just used the 2nd one. Still, negative so I figure the chances are very slim, but I've never just skipped a period all together. And the test did come from the same box. I'd originally decided to just wait until my next one is due, but as I am slowly realizing that my period is still not on the way, no PMS or anything, I'm beginning to wonder if I should test again or see a doctor or something sooner.

I trust the home test, but I'm just worried about what the consequences of being 3 months pregnant before I found out would be. I'd kind of rather be paranoid than be the idiot who didn't know they were pregnant for 3 months and put their baby in a bad situation. So what should the next step be? should I wait for my next period and take another test if that doesn't come? should I take a home test asap or should I see a doctor for a blood test? what would you guys do?
» month late period + spotting.
Fuck.

I was supposed to get my period on March the 9th. It is now April the 13th.

Between the time span of March 9th and my previous period, I had sex twice - and we used a condom and made sure everything was good.

From March 9th - now, I havenot had sex.

My period is M.I.A. On the 10th (Friday), I started bleeding and was all *rejoiiiiiice, rejoiiiiiiiiiice*, as I thought it was my period. Alas, the bleeding stopped overnight and I am red no more.

Help? What's this mean? I've googled, and googled, and googled some more, and I don't understand any of it. My period is sometimes wonky, 3-4 months late, but it just seems weird this time.

And no, I'm not on birth control. Before you go all, "OMG YOUR HAVIN SEX WITHOUT BEING ON DA PIIIILLLLLLLL", I KNOW, I KNOW. I'm also on prozac and it was counteracting the effects of prozac, and quite honestly I'd rather freak about being preg than be depressed and want to die, SO, that's that.

» The psyche and its affect on the ability to carry a child and regulate menstrual cycles
I have this terrible phobia of something being alive inside of my body. The idea of being pregnant, with something feeding off of my nutrients and things I need to live and having an organism moving inside of me, has prevented my from ever desiring to birth a child. I think that if I was pregnant, my psychological distress signals might cause my body to terminate the source of that stress. I've also had irregular periods since they began, and whenever I was menstruating I felt this horrible sense of wrongness and unease. I was thinking that maybe this could be partially because of my views on childbearing, and maybe that would cause mental resistance to ovulating and being able to get pregnant.

Does anybody know how much the psychological view on reproductive matters of a woman can affect a pregnancy or the body's ability to have regular periods? Any personal stories? Which is more powerful (in your opinion): the psyche or the biological instinct to reproduce?
» menstrual cup as fertility tool?
I was talking to my neighbor, and it was mentioned that they were planning a family with the help of a menstrual cup -

Has anyone in the community had experience with home insemination by way of a cup or the ol' "turkey baster" method?

Thanks in advance for any info.

» Speeding up or Delaying Period the Natural Way
Hi Everyone,

I'm new to this community but enjoy reading it since everyone is so open in sharing!  I'm not squirmy about talking about my period at all since that is how my mom raised me but some friends are, so I can't always talk to them about it.

Anyways, I was wondering what people know about speeding up or delaying your period not including contraceptives and such.  I've heard random things here and there and I'm not sure if they are true or just myths.  They are:

Stress can delay your period (I'm pretty sure this one is true).  Worrying about getting (or not getting) your period seems to delay it a couple of days as well.

Eating potatoes can speed up the arrival of your period and give you a heavy flow. (My friend told me this from experience...when she went to camp all they did was feed them potatoes so her flow was super heavy compared to her regular flows).  Once on a trip I also attempted to delay my period so I stayed far away from fries and chips and it seemed to work.

Sex or orgasms can induce the period to come?  I'm not sure about this but I've heard like when you know that it's about to come but it hasn't yet, it seems to come soon after an orgasm.

Fasting can delay the period.  I read that this is because your body goes into survival mode and since it's not getting any food, it knows it can't have babies... I wouldn't recommend this one since it's not very healthy =P

So are there any other ways that you've heard or experienced in delaying or speeding up your period?

» (No Subject)
I don't think I'm ever gonna get used to this irregular period thing. It was so nice having it on the exact same day every month, and then about 2 years ago it went crazy, it comes early and then late and then it'll be on time for a few weeks it's all over the place. So now every time it's late, I think I'm pregnant. Last month, I had a very short light period so I took a pregnancy test just to be sure, and it was negative. Now my period is about 5 days late again, and my boyfriend's been gone since the end of January. So now I have no clue weather I should take another test or not. On one hand, the last one was negative, and if I wasn't pregnant then, I'm not now. But I'm going to be out of town for a week, and I don't want my vacation to be me wondering if my period is going to start or not and if I could be pregnant. You'd think my body would be nice just this once, and let me have a nice vacation.
