First Timer?
Hey, I've been researching a lot on tampons and cups... and to be honest, I just can't find very good information. I stumbled onto this community.. and it was like the heavens opened up to me, lol.
I've tried using tampons for months... but they don't quite seem to work. I've gotten them in once or twice... but they make my cramps worse, and after doing some research, I've found out that the swelling of the tampon inside the vagina irritates the inflamed cervix and does make cramps worse. I would stick with pads, but I'm a fencer, and I can't sit out of competitions just 'cause I'm on my special time of month!
So during my late nights on the web... I discovered the idea of mooncups. I was like, wait, what? They go in you? And they're like.. WHAT? I mean.. I guess you guys aren't surprised with that reaction, lol. I was a bit freaked, to say the least... but now they're starting to appeal to me. (: But... I'm a 15 year old asian (small-framed because ofi t) virgin. I had difficulty getting a tampon in... I'm afraid using a cup will be much worse!
Thoughts/suggestions?

Oh, and also: My mom.. freaked when I even mentioned tampons to her (she's old fashioned... she hates the idea of tampons, but she's not active, like me.) I couldn't even imagine asking her to order a mooncup for me! Do they sell cups in convenience stores or anything?

New Lunette!
I've had my small Diva for about a year, and I have never had any major problems with it (minus a few instances of difficulty opening). I realized that it was a bit too long and I've been yearning for a second cup anyway, so I ordered the small Lunette from leastore.fi. I just want to say that this store is freaking unbelievable. I ordered my cup on Thursday and I got it today (Monday). I'm in California. They're in Finland. What?!? Plus they sent candy. Great, great, great, company. I recommend them. I just washed and popped in the new cup for a dry run and every thing went perfectly. Popped open easily and the shorter length is more comfortable for me. Yay for new cups!

lost lunette...need a new one
Hey everyone! I'm in a bind and I'm hoping someone can help me! I moved to Houston, TX from NYC a few days ago and in the process my bag was damaged. I lost some personal belongings, including my dear Lunette. :[
Does anyone know where I can get a menstrual cup in a short period of time (read a week) around here or have one to sell to me. I'm a bit on the small side, so I don't know if Divas will be cool, but if I can get the small size to fit, I'll be so, so happy.
Thanks so much everyone!

i love my cup (+ pics of folds for insertion/removal)
i have only posted comments on this community so far but i thought it was time now to post an entry.
thanks to everyone here for sharing your experiences, it's really helpful to be able to read up info on here!

my name is Annina, i'm 25 years old, no virgin and have not had any children.
i found out about menstrual cups on a random lj userinfo of someone who had put a link there that said "i love my divacup" and it lead to the divacup site. i thought it was interesting but i was also a little chicken to try it out. after a while i went for it though, i had looked for a shop here in Sweden and found one online and got myself the Diva size 1 (smaller). i mainly went for that one because the onlineshop offered a 3-months-return guarantee. this is the shop by the way, in case anyone from Sweden is reading and wants to know.

i have used my divacup for two cycles now and i really like it now. at first i found it a little big for me and i was unsure if i should get a smaller cup, after seeing the size chart here i thought i should have gotten the small ladycup instead. but i wanted to give my diva a second chance and now after having used it for my second cycle i'm really getting the hang of how everything works, and i don't feel like i need a smaller cup.

i know there are pictures of the folds already in this community but i took my own ones showing how i fold my cup to insert and remove, here they are:

Diva Cup - where to buy, dry run experience and choosing the right size
I ordered my Diva cup from www.iherb.com used the referral code KAS985 and my total (including shipping) came out to only $15.49!  I ordred on a Thursday and received it on Monday.

I did a dry run last night using the C-fold...I really irritated myself by trying quite a few times. I finally did get it in but couldn't get it to unfold inside of me. Then I pulled it out and it popped. Ouch! For some reason, it hurt a lot coming out than going in.

After these dry runs, I was feeling pretty irritated in my vagina and I don't know if I was imagining things but even my lower stomach felt tender/irritated. (Just read other comments that suctioning your cervix can cause this achy feeling! Not very pleasant!)

This morning, I feel fine so I'll try another dry run tonight.

I'm really excited to make this work but I'm also concerned about the learning curve.

Also I ordered the size 1 (the smaller) even though I'm over 30 and have 2 kids. I was thinking that my flow isn't heavy and I wanted to save myself the pain of inserting something larger. I know the instructions for picking the correct size isn't related to flow, so I'll report back on if wearing the smaller size works, despite my age and mother status.

Hubby made me laugh so hard when I showed him the cup. I had been talking about menstrual cups for days and weeks as I was doing my research. So when it arrived, I proudly showed it to him and he thought it was very small. My very clueless guy thought the menstrual cup was going to be about the size of an 8oz sippy cup! OUCH AND LOL!

Least expensive price on Diva cups at iherb.com
I  was clued into this great site, and I ordered my Diva cup last week.  The best price I found anywhere.   $18.99 (USD) for the cup AND if you use a referral code (you can use this one: HIN089) you’ll get another $5 off!  Regular USPS shipping was $1.50, so my total was $15.49, and I got mine in 5 days, which included the weekend after I ordered.  (Faster shipping is available at higher prices.)   I owe the tip to a post on another site somewhere....  Hope it's helpful to you! I saved over $20...I was just about to buy at Whole Foods!

Great deal on Diva Cups
This store has the best prices on Diva Cups that I've yet to see.  The cup + Diva wash deal is less than I paid for the cup alone!

Hi!

I'm thinking about ordering a mooncup from the Finnish supplier (https://ssl.neutech.fi/kuukuppi.fi/), but I can't seem to find anything on the site about the packaging it'll arrive in. Has anyone ordered from this site before, and how did your product arrive?

Thanks!

Stores that accept concealed cash?
Okay, so I'm looking into getting some sort of cup in the near future, but here's my problem- I don't have a credit/debit card and well, trying to explain/convince to my dad that cups are better than pads/tampons is not something I'm comfortable discussing with him [I have no issues with it, but this stuff seems to make him uncomfortable, so I'd like to avoid it] so I'm basically stuck with buying it with concealed cash or a money order or not at all. It's not convenient for me to go to the post office/store to get a money order, but if it's my only option that I'll find time.

Does anyone know of any stores that will accept concealed cash? I've seen a few stores online that accept money orders, but cash is probably the easiest option for me. I don't have much of a preference of any specific one, but for reference- I'm 17 and childless.

Thanks!!

Kuukuppi Now Selling the Ladycup
I (and many other here) have great experiences with Kuukuppi. Thus, I thought I'd share that they now offer the Ladycup for sale.

Both sizes (with or without sterilizing tablets and lubricant) are now available for the same price as through the official website. No double packs, though.

No word on if they still include those yummy pieces of Turkish delight, but I'd presume so.

Leastore sale (for Lunette menstrual cups)
Hey cuppers,

I just thought I would publicize the fact that Leastore (www.leastore.fi) will be giving a 20% discount on items purchased through their online store this weekend, including Lunette menstrual cups and cloth pads. I'm planning to buy a second Lunette, since I love mine *soooo* much (I'm actually going to buy the bigger size--I don't actually meet their guidelines for the smaller size, although it works fine with me. But I bet I could use the bigger one too and leave it in for a bit longer on my heavy days...)

Here are the details from the e-mail they sent me (the English translation is not mine):

"Leastore takes part Naisday exhibition for women in Turku, Finland on March 8.-9. We’d like to reward our loyal customers by giving here a sales code LS3H3 which allows 20% discount from one-time purchase during the weekend. When checking out on e-store the above mentioned code is asked and the discount will be calculated from all the products. Our product selection expanded in the beginning of February. Now there is a wider selection of cloth menstrual pads and pantiliners."

Also, if anyone has doubts about ordering a menstrual cup all the way from Finland, I can vouch for this store. They do a great job--my first cup arrived in less than a week (at the time I was living in Brooklyn, NY)! However, at least in my experience, it is *slightly* less discreet than some other companies because the customs declaration on the outside of the package says "hygiene product" or something like that. Not deathly embarrassing, but not completely discreet.

EDIT--When I was just poking around the store's website looking for postal rates, I noticed they also carry other menstrual cups: MoonCup, LadyCup (I guess that's a new one?), and DivaCup. I wouldn't think this is the cheapest place to get those, however... But I'm betting Leastore is the cheapest (and most reliable) place to get the Finnish-produced Lunette.

South Coast Shopping = reliable??
Hi everyone,

Sorry to post twice in one evening, but I just have one short question. Someone on here mentioned that they purchased their Diva Cup for South Coast Shopping online for half price. I checked it out and the deal is still on and the website says that they ship overseas. I was just wondering if anyone has had any bad experiences with this company/ know the shipping cost/ live in Canada and had it shipped to them.

Thanks!

OH NOES!
I am so...verklempt. Ugh. I left my cup in my office and don't work tomorrow and of course, it's period time. That's why the cup was in my office in the first place. I thought I needed it earlier, but didn't and then I didn't put the cosmetic bag back in my purse.

Ugh. Are there any stores that sell them? I tried once before when I was going to buy an extra but the grocery stores around here, the drug stores (Walgreens, Rite Aid), and m local co-op doesn't have one. I know someone said Whole Food carried them. Am I remembering that correctly? I don't even care about the brand at this point!

What's the difference?
I have decided that I want to get either a Lady cup,Mooncup,or FemmeCup. What I was wanting to know is what is the difference between them? I know all cup's are pretty much the same, but is there any big difference between these 3 cup's? I have read on here about the Mooncup, but there isn't much on the other 2 cup's,that's why I am asking yall. What's the difference between the Mooncup u.k and the Mooncup u.s? I was also wanting to know which one of these 3 is the most fexible? And which one is the smallest? Thanks :)

One more thing,Where is the best place to buy these cup's?

diva cup = my best friend
I would just like to say that I love my Diva Cup. I hate the name, but love the product.

I had heard about menstrual cups a few years ago, actually, and it had always peaked my interest. However, I didn't start thinking about it seriously until a few months ago when I realized how much I really despised pads (I couldn't bring myself to use tampons - the idea of bleached fibers absorbing themselves into my mucous membranes didn't sit well with me). And then I was reading Ecoholic and it said that the annual amount of pads dumped into landfills is 12 billion, tampons (and/or their wrappers) was 7 billion. I can't believe I was part of that!

I found this community and after reading through the tags, I found that instead of paying nearly $40 for a Diva Cup I could go to betterlife.com and get one there for only $22 (I'm 22 & I haven't had any children yet - so I ordered model #1)! It got here in about 10 days. I was actually excited for my period to get here.

It was definitely different at first. Since I've been celibate for nearly three years, it was a smidge uncomfortable during the first insertion. It took a few tries to get it, but now it takes no time at all and I actually forget it's there! My period is relatively light (I'm used to monstrously heavy, yet over the years it has calmed down somewhat). I haven't had any leaks, and I'm able to wear it over night without waking up every few hours to check if my sheets are (yet again) stained.

I've since convinced my mom and two of my friends to get one for themselves.

However, I refuse to wear that pin that it came with :)

Ready to try another menstrual cup

So way back in like late August, I bought my first menstrual cup, the DivaCup. It was the one that was most easily accessible to me, being that I live in Canada. I've had at least [based on a period being about five days long] eight to ten periods to get used to it [had like a two and a half month period, and yes, I've never been so grateful for a cup in all of my life].

Now, I do like the Diva. My main problems with it is that sometimes, I have a hard time getting it to pop open and seal, which is not good when you have class everyday. Also, for the first two or three days of my period, my cervix sits relatively low [I can feel it without inserting my index finger all the way]. Because the Diva is fairly long, that makes it sit lower than is comfortable for me. I can feel the end of it rubbing against my entrance, which means I either just have to ignore it or consistently push it back up. Even as I sit here, it's doing that to me, and it's driving me fricking crazy.

My period tends to be moderate on day one, heavy on day two and three, and then moderate for day four and five before tapering off to very light for six and sometimes seven.

I don't particularly want a Keeper, neither the latex one or the non-latex one. I was thinking about the Mooncup UK, because I've seen a lot of positive posts about it, but I wasn't sure about the Lunette, either. Whichever one I'll decide on, I'll search for the cheapest version possible. Based on what my problems with the Diva are, can anyone advise me on a second cup?

Cats + Mooncup = disaster for me, fun for them
I had my cup soaking on the counter and one of the cats decided to swipe it off the counter and make a toy of it. Or, at least, that's what I think happened. I was going to blame my husband, but he said he didn't move it. So, I know it had to be the cats. I know this has happened to a few folks before. I'm just hoping that I can find it and it will be in good condition when or if I do.

I guess I'll try a DivaCup and see if I like that--plus, I saw them for sale for around $20 as opposed to another $30 + shipping. Has anyone ordered from LuckyVitamin?

I'd love a Lunette, but I don't want to pay $50+ with shipping and stuff. Booo.

I guess I've learned my lesson and will soak it IN the medicine cabinet from now on.

Hello, after joining and reading as much as I could possibly read, I've decided to buy a cup! Around here, the closest thing I could find in stores was Insteads [I checked at Target, Walmart and Kmart. Target and Walmart stocked 4 boxes, placed either on the highest shelf or on the very bottom. I couldn't even find them at Kmart.] Insteads are cool, but I want something more.. permanent?

So anyways, I decided I want to buy a Mooncup. I found these three sites:
mooncup.com (ohio)
keeper.com (ohio)
thekeeper.com (texas)

Which one do I buy from?

Hey, I'm a VP referral. :)

Okay, so basically I'm a college freshman who's sick of tampons. We don't have communal bathrooms, but I share with my roommate and the two girls in the suite adjoined, so it's four people to a bath. I live in middle Georgia, and so we don't have a lot of shopping options - just a WalMart, mostly.

Anyway, I was thinking about getting a cup. I'm eighteen, a virgin, and plus-sized, if that matters at all. What brand is the best for a beginner, and where is it most easily gotten? I am eager about this, but also really nervous. So reassurance would be epic as well.

N00b with a question...
Hi everyone!

I'm new, but I've spent quite a lot of time searching and reading through the posts here, so hopefully I won't be asking annoying n00b questions. ^-^;

I just found out about menstrual cups very recently, and I'd like to purchase one myself, but I don't have much money. After searching through the extremely helpful comparisons & reviews, I've figured that since I have no experience with any type of cup, the best I can do is make an educated guess, make a purchase, and see how it works with my body. From the comparison posts, I think I would like to try the Diva Cup. The fact that it has a 1 year guarantee is really appealing too. But, this brings me to my question...

I found 2 sites that had the Diva Cup for quite a good price ($17.99 @ southcoastshopping.com, and $19.98 @ luckyvitamin.com) and I would be very happy get one for so cheap, but both sites say they will not accept any returns. So, what do I purchase from one of them, and the Diva Cup doesn't work for me? Do I mail it back directly to the Diva Cup company...?

Thanks in advance for your help. This community has been wonderfully informative! ^o^

Where to find an inexpensive Lunette?
Does anyone know the cheapest place or cheapest way to acquire a Lunette (larger size). I already have a Diva(1), but I'd like to have a spare. Although I am open to a different brand, I am most interested in having my second cup be a Lunette. Thanks in Advance, Ladies.
