Good News - MPower Menstrual Cup is now available from Feminine Wear. It is available in one size but the new teen, smaller size will be available in a couple of months.
Thanks

MPowercup update

I have been in talks with MPower about possibly stocking them on my website.
As far as I am aware up until now they have been limited to South Africa only.
I have a few concerns about stocking them and I don't think I will stock them - but would value your input on one issue raised.
I asked if they sell them in different sizes and the reply was that there is only one size available. The reason given is this -

We only have one size - the two size cups are a marketing gimmick. This size is good for most women. We are bringing out a teenage size , smaller and more rounded on the top so as to appear less scary for the younger market.

My views are firstly that this is an outrageous comment to make. Cups come in different sizes so that they can fit different women. This company doesn't appear to understand women's needs and the market that they are selling to. They also contradict themselves by then saying that they are bringing out another size. Also, are the younger market scared of cups!!??

More About MPower
indigo_dawn said she got an email reply from Glenda at MPower and quoted a sentence about its sizing.  I got an email from Glenda this morning too and I suspect we both got the same "generic form letter" reply because mine had the exact same sentence.

So it looks like the MPower is quite a small cup and just a couple of posts below at http://community.livejournal.com/menstrual_cups/1635832.html, they're working on expanding their market through a UK distributor.

Has anyone ever heard of these - MPower cups based in South Africa - www.mpowercup.co.za ? I have approached them with a view to stocking them on my website here in the UK - www.femininewear.co.uk but would be really keen to hear views from users or potential users.
Thanks in advance for your help.

First Cup for My Sister

I have a DivaCup, and I love it. I just recently got to use it on my period (today's the first day!). I cut off the stem completely and inserted it when I had a little spotting last night, and when I woke up, I had a full cup. No leaks, though my feminine moisture (whatever you call it) bypasses the cup like it's not even there. I thought it was a leak, but it was just, you know, the clear stuff. Anywho, I've been thinking about getting my 13 year old sister her first cup. She hasn't started her period yet, but I wanted her to have a cup ready as an option. She knows all about cups, but isn't sure which one she wants. I've heard that just about every cup is good for beginners. I'm leaning towards LadyCup/ColoredCup, or even the Femmcup. What do you ladies think? I think I'll do a poll for this one, but comments are welcomed lots!

Unfortunately, the Mooncup is no longer available in the U.S., and I don't feel like Houdini-ing one out here, and Keepers and Moon Cups aren't an option. Grrr.

Mpower Cup
Hi everyone

I've recently started looking at menstrual cups and I think I'm going to buy an Mpower cup, minly due to speed and price. According to the suppliers, the cup has ~40mm diameter and ~50mm length. That seems slightly smaller than others I've looked at it, so would it be OK? My gut feel is that smaller will be more comfortable, but I really don't know.

(BTW, I live in South Africa, so their international shipping issues don't bother me.)

Thanks in advance.

The new Mpower cup :))
Hello, dear ladies :)

Maybe you already talked about it, but I wasn't able to see it..
So, there is another cup that comes from South Africa, besides the Miacup.

I knew about it thanks to a topic about the new cups on the forum of the French site www.easycup.fr.

Here is the site for the Mpower cup =
http://www.mpowercup.co.za/index.php

It seems there is only one size as for the Femmecup (its diameter must be about 4.5 or 4.6 cm I guess), as it is said in the FAQ section that it is "available for all women", and only two holes near the rim for instance _ It looks very soft and the general design of the cup is homogeneous and smooth, the rim isn't big at all.
I love the way of thinking of Glenda, whose the Mpower is the "baby" ;).

Ah! It's so deeply cool that the cups become more and more popular..
Many joyful kisses !

Mpower menstrual cups joining the party!
I have been fascinated reading all the posts on this site.  I have launched my own made in Cape Town, South Africa menstrual cup.  It is great to hang out with like-minded women who are using cups and keen to try if they aren't.  Somehow I also cannot believe that I only tried my first cup, the Lunette 3 years ago.  I'm so annoyed that it wasn't mainstream and I have been using tampons for 20 years!!  My vision is to make my product mainstream. As well as accessible and affordable for all women in South Africa.

New Cup - the Mpowercup (made in RSA)
I noticed a new entry to the menstrual cups wikipedia page, so I did a google search.

http://www.mpowercup.co.za/

My first impressions:

- A very cheap recommended retail price of ZAR245 (approx. USD24.40) and with a current show price of ZAR220 (Approx. USD21.80) until March 2nd.
- A flat-tab stem with three ridges.
- Only two, large and straight-cut holes.
- A completely smooth looking surface, with no writing or prominent bumps or ridges.
- I went to the ordering page and it only requested how many cups I wanted to order, and there is no mention about sizes.
- No mention of international orders.

They appear to be based in the Western Cape of RSA, in Cape Town (Miacup is based in Johannesburg). According to their stockist information, they are already sold in brick-and-mortar stores across South Africa. The owner's mission appears to make menstrual cups mainstream.
