Leakage and removal help!

So, i've been using the Mooncup UK (B, as i'm 18 and no kids) for a few months now, and i've had no problems until now. (This is a great community btw, it helped answer many of the questions when I was first starting out!)

leaking problem )removal and leaking )

Sorry for the long post, and I know, TMI! So I guess my main problem is removal, as I can't seem to remove the cup with all the contents in the cup, and not all over my hand! I have heavy periods btw, and before using the mooncup, I used to have to change my pad every 2 hours. Also, I wear my mooncup high up, as everytime I try to keep it low, it always migrates up.

I hope I explained it well and it's not too confusing

I effing hate tampons!!!
Has anyone ever had trouble with leakage after using tampons and then going back to a menstrual cup?

I've been using my Keeper for almost a year. I love it, and have rarely had leakage problems. This weekend I was stupid and forgot it at home, and of course my period showed up unexpectedly while I was visiting my boyfriend who lives about an hour and a half away.

Sooo... I made him rush to the convenience store to pick up tampons, because I knew there wasn't anywhere nearby where I could purchase a menstrual cup. Now that I am back home, I have my menstrual cup back in and it seems to be leaking like crazy. Anyone ever had this problem before? Will things go back to normal for my next cycle, or should I get the larger size Keeper?

TIA!

First post: Leakage and messsssssy
Hi all! I've been following this community for a little while now (ever since I heard of Diva cups). I finally got the courage up to buy one and try it out for this cycle which started yesterday...

I kept the stem on for the first few hours but it drove me nuts, so I cut it a bit...still drove me nuts, so I cut it a bit more. Now I can't feel it at all, but I do have to fish around for a bit to find the cup to remove it at times...

Anyway I LOVE the cup and the idea of not having to buy tampons anymore especially since I won't be polluting the environment with them like crazy...but here are my two concerns that I was hoping to get your advice on...

1. leakage. I was hoping to have no leakage but I guess life can't be perfect, right? My cup keeps leaking...it's not a lot, just a little blood on the panty liners, but it's annoying. My cup is no where NEAR full, but it leaks around the cup...am I doing something wrong or is this normal? It seems like I can usually tell when there's leaking too, so I go to the bathroom and yep, I'm right.

2. messiness. ewww. I know it's blood and it's normal, but it grosses me out. When I bear down and fish for the cup, I always come out with the cup and my fingers all messy...looks like a murder scene. I've yet to remove the cup in a public restroom, but I worry about this happening there....is this normal or am I doing something wrong?

Thanks all!

How do I know if I am doing this right?
So first time with the menstrual cup thing (I have the Diva Cup), and this has probably been answered, but I read through and still am not sure if it has.  Anyways, I have two questions....

a)  I tried my cup last night... 9 hours, some leaking, and it wasn't even close to overflowing.  Second time I put it in, I decided to try the seven-fold instead of the C-fold that was recommended in the instructions, and I had a ton of leaking with that one.  As in, I don't think it was blocking anything lol!  After about 45 minutes, I took it out (see second question for main reason for take-out), but I plan on trying again before bed... maybe the punch fold this time.  Should I be able to feel if it is "suctioned" in?  I mean, it feel suctioned on removal, but not really while it is in there, although when I put my finger around it as much as I can, it feels as if it is unfolded.  I tried the turn thing recommended by the Diva Cup instructions, and I also tried kiegels the second time (which seemed tougher than usual with that in there, so maybe I need to work my muscles some more), but obviously it wasn't sealed the second time, and the first time it might have been, but it didn't feel any different then the second time.  So should I be able to tell if it is suctioned in well, and if so, how do I tell?

b)  I always get cramping with my period, but I noticed when I have the cup in, I get a pain in the front of my abdomen.  I don't think it is anywhere near my cervix, despite being the longer brand of cup, since I tried checking with my fingers.  That said, my fingers are on the stubby side.  However, I figured maybe I am inserting it wrong, cuz I totally do not get how to insert something horizontally into my vaginal canal.  It isn't horizontal!  I mean, slightly tilted towards my tailbone I can do, but not horizonally like the instructions said.  So I am thinking I am totally missing something, and maybe wrong insertion is what is causing the pain (andpossibly the leaking too).

The pain isn't anything I can't deal with... seriously, taking a tylenol for it would be overkill, but it is noticable, and paired with my first question, it makes me think I am doing this wrong.  So basically, any tips on knowing I have it sealed would be great, and also any information on what they mean by inserting it horizontally (do they just mean towards the tailbone?)!  Thank you so much!!!

Mooncup hates Ladycup
Just had my first period with my green ladycup, I have already been using a Mooncup (UK) for almost a year. I had a few dry runs with the ladycup before my period arrvied and didn't envisage any problems with it. To begin with it was fine but after using it overnight there seemed to be a lot of blood on the outside of the cup, it looked as if it had run out of the diagonal holes. Anyway, it hadn't leaked so I wasn't too worried. Throughout the following day I had a bit of leakage and although it wasn't much I would have been happier with a pantyliner if I'd been going out anywhere.

Because I had never had a single tiny bit of leakage with my mooncup I decided to swap back again next time I emptied out. After a couple of hours I went to the loo and I had massive leakage from the mooncup! I felt like it was getting revenge on me for using another cup. It was really strange because there was plenty of blood inside it and absolutely none on the outside when I removed it so I don't know how it could have leaked, there was just no evidence. My mooncup has also been much easier to insert, pop and remove since I used the ladycup. Its all a bit spooky, its like my mooncup was punishing me by leaking then miraculously rectifying every fault I had with it to stop me using ladycup again.

Anyway, what I'm really getting at here is does anyone find the direction of the ladycup holes to cause leaks? I know its only my first period with it but I didn't trust it enough to go to work with it in today, I went for my mooncup instead.

Also, does anyone else experience cup rivalry like this?

Orange Cup vs Lunette Selene (small)
OK. This is my second cycle using a cup. I had a happy period in my fist cycle with the cup when I got used to my small Orange Cup. It leaked only the first day of my period because it was quite heavy. So.....I got a small Lunette Selene because I am petite and cannot use a longer cup than that. Lunette supposedly has a higher capacity than the Orange Cup but the size are quite similar....

OK So I start my second cycle with my sm lunette selene on my first two heavy days.... It leaked!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The first day that it leaked  I just thought I should adjust how to insert because it was hard to pop and I did not feel any suction. So the second day which is the forth of July (today) which I have to be at work 9 hrs. I had to remove and reinsert the cup while at work like 3 times because it won't stop leaking.  Then I had to go to a Jazz in the Park to picnic and watch fireworks  somewhere out of town where restrooms are...ick...! and it won't stop leaking. I checked inside and made sure that it pops but this cup is very squishy that I think if I move a little it will break the seal and it's probably what  had caused it to leak. I had no problem with leaking with my smaller orange cup at all :( It was such a hassel my blood was all over my hands. I took a bottled water with me but there were no place to sit it down so it was horrible.

Lunette selene did catch the blood about almost half of the cup but there are quite amount that leaks. I don't know what I was doing wrong. I don't know if the  cervix just sit inside the cup which takes all the space like most of the ladies hear might have experienced?? I can't tell because I cannot touch it when the cup's in because my finger won't fit.  This was not my concern at all about where the cervix sits with my smaller orange cup though, no prob at all. :(  It just seals its way in and I would be good to go.
Lady cups are just hard to remove but much comfortable to wear for me.

I really dont want to waste my Lunette Selene...How am I going to get it to work :(? I used punch down fold because it was the best one for my Orange cup and other folds are too large...Any better folds for Lunetter Selene? I can't seem to insert it with the Seven fold which I heard it works for a lot of people .

Femmecup
My second cycle ended last week with less success then the first with the Femmecup.
It just leaked so much. Even after a few minutes it was already leaking! And so for sure after 2 hours or less I was in the bathroom. I must have tried so many different times reinserting it and a bit different every time to try to get it right with No success!!!

This must be the wrong cup for me... or am I just putting it in wrong all of these many times!!>??
I tried the C-fold and that is the only fold but I tried straight, I tried toward my back, foot on toilet, sitting down... anyway... I guess it is not the right cup for me.

With regards to the size of the F-cup, do you think this means my vagina is longer or shorter? And which do you recommend I try next!?

Thanks.

I want this to work... but this last experience was very frustrating! to say the least!

Hello from Russia! :)
I'm not very good at English but I can't find russian-speaking cup-user who could answer my questions... So I hope you will forgive me for my mistakes :)
I've been using my Mooncup UK for 5 periods and I still have some troubles with leaking.
I'm 25, no kids, sexual active. I use a small size - "B".
It works, and sometimes it works perfect, but another time it leaks just like there's nothing inside at all.

I tried to insert it in different ways:
- low, right next to the entrance of vagina - works, but I fill it and the stem pokes me.
- higher, towards my cervix - but when it is inside, I can't say if it is around my cervix or not... how can I check it? So it usually leaks when inserted like this - means that I do something wrong?

I could wear it low, but in time it rides up anyway, and sometimes not to my cervix - so it starts to leak a lot.

So how do you think what should I do?
Try to incert it around my cervix (but how can I do it?) ?
Or shoud I try a wider/longer cup that wouldn't ride up in wrong direction when inserted?
I should add that my Mooncup "B" seats very tightly, I can hardly insert a finger to check the suction.
And my cervix is not low during my period (about 6-7 sm).

Air in Vagina/Uterus?

I am a new Divacup user. I just purchased it last week and used it for the first time last night. All went well so I decided to try it at work today. I didn't get it in right this morning and was having some leaking, so I decided to take it out and reposition it while I was at work. When I put it in it seemed to unfold, then as I pushed I felt the cup fill with air and the air push into my vagina. I know that air in the uterus can be very dangerous. I am wondering if there is anything to worry about with it pushing some air up there, then suctioning so it can't come back out.

Any thoughts? Has this happened to anyone else?

colours you wear and the wake up
So just been think about a few things. currently got my period and I've noticed that i tend to wear particular colours when i have it. Has any one else noticed this. My colour of preference during mensturation tends to be red. hmmm dont know if it's my way of telling "the world" or what, but I find it interesting.
now the other thing. I've been using cups for a few years now and have recently been using a new cup (lunette). I find when i wake up in the morning as i start to get up i start to leak. i had thought that it might have been coz it was full but when i take it out it isnt. does anyone else have this problem or know how to aviod that made rush to the toilet that i get? by the way it happened with my other cup too (keeper) but i have noticed it more with the new one

cup help
Ok I've been using a diva cup for the past year, and during my last menstrual cycle my cup began to leak to the point that i had to wear pantie liners and i'm going through menstruation right now and my cup is not really working at all. How long does your cup work for you? do you think i'm putting it in wrong, or it's time to get a new one? I bought mine in December I think

Finally, the right cup!!! (Pt 3 of my journey through menstrual cup land)
I posted a while back regarding all the difficulty I had with my first cup, the Diva. To summarize: I leaked constantly, I had trouble getting it to seal and it would invariably get sucked up my vagina, catching none of my blood at all! After going through all sorts of troubleshooting on here, we guessed that it had something to do with my tilted uterus. So I ordered a large Lady Cup and used it my last cycle, figuring the larger diameter would be more likely to catch my cervix and that the shorter, softer body would be easier to maneuver into position. I had much more success with it than the Diva, but I still had some leaking (especially after sitting down for long periods of time- probably because this changes the position of my cervix). Overall it was so much better that I was almost satisfied. Almost, because I still couldn't rely on it 100%, and it made me feel achey inside. So I decided to give the small Lady Cup a shot. I'm almost 25 but I know the sizing is more of a shape and capacity issue than anything else, so I figured, why not.

I'm so glad I did! The small Lady Cup does everything I ever wanted a cup to do. It stays put, insertion and sealing are a breeze, and it does not leak! Seriously, I had to empty it in a public bathroom today, and it was out and back in in under 30 seconds. Retrospectively, I think that the problem with the large LC was that it was a little too snugly fit for me, which forced it higher up in my vagina. Since my cervix is tilted, I need my cups to ride low in order to catch the blood. The small LC has a small enough diameter to ride low, and therefore it stays below my cervix.

Thanks for all your help and support on here. I never would have even considered a different brand of cup had it not been for this community.

Weird Leaking
Ok, I've poured over this site and can't seem to find any answers to my situation. Here goes...................

I use a  DIVA CUP Lg (over 30?)  &  punch down fold
I some times have leakage that almost seems like 'water' but it is tinted pink.  My cup is usu. NOT full, the holes are usu. NOT clogged,
& the cup is always 'popped open'  & I do a sweep around & TWIST!!  I am not very sure about my cervix.........I THINK it MOVES............but I
wouldn't swear to it.  I don't dare go without a panty liner/pad (i use cloth) @ ANY TIME!!!  But I do like my cup......I'd just like to know if I'm missing something or is this as good as it gets for me..............Any and all suggestions welcomed!!!  Should I try a diff. cup?  Or try ?????
Thanks in advance!!!

Residual Slobber
Thanks to the electronic age, I spend most of my time sitting in front of one screen or another.  But I do have an "outside job" that some of you have figured out involves motorcycles.  And yesterday was only the second time in a year that I have been scheduled to do a full day at that outside job on my heaviest day.  Because I get more "residual slobber" than I think I should at my desk job, I was quite paranoid and wore a full pad (not just a liner) as a back-up.  Well, my paranoia was for nothing.  I emptied my large Lunette 2-3 times in the porta-potty just in case it was filling faster than anticipated.  (Nope, no more than half full at any time.)  Despite all the walking, stretching, bending, flexing, on and off the bike a dozen times, my 90 mile commute sitting splayed on my bike, etc, there was barely a blip on my pad by the end of the day.

Came home exhausted, swapped for my (large) Mooncup because the Lunette felt funny, parked my (ample) butt in front of the TV and then went to bed early cos I just couldn't keep my eyes open any more.

In the middle of the night, I woke up to roll over, coughed and felt a blip.  Sh!t.  Got up to take care of it.  The Mooncup felt like it was in crooked.  Half-asleep, I swapped back to the Lunette because the Mooncup apparently didn't like how I was sleeping.  Hours later, now I'm back at my desk (TMI) with residual slobber all over my shield.

Conclusion: The less active I am, the more my cups leak.

Half-serious question: So could being more active be the cure to residual slobber???

GreenCup spotting versus Femmecup small capacity
This is only my second cycle successful period with a menstrual cup.  I absolutely love my GreenCup, but had ordered a Femmecup in order to see how I would feel about a narrow bodied versus a hoop skirt.  They are both equally comfortable to wear.  The Femmecup pops open alot easier and is easier to remove.  The Femmecup is too small to be useful for my first day, but the spotting that I have with the GreenCup is completely eliminated with the Femmecup.  I stir with both until my finger comes clean in order to avoid residual sludge.  I've noticed that the outside of my GreenCup always has blood on it after removal, but the femmecup does not, in fact it comes out as clean as it went in.  This makes removal a lot cleaner.  I think that this might be caused by the angle of the holes on the GreenCup, being that they are lower on the outside than on the inside.  I'm guessing that as the blood runs down the side past the holes it slowly drips out of the holes.  Does anyone else think that this may be the reason?  I only ask because the Femmecup is way to small for my first day and just big enough not to be a big issue on my second day.  I'd like more capacity and if the angle of the holes is the only issue, then a Lunette (once they are being shipped to the US again) would be perfect.

thinking about getting a ladycup
hi hi! I have a series of related questions :)

I've used a small diva for three cycles, and I love it, even though it's not quite working like I'd have hoped, heh!

my first issue was discomfort, so I flipped it inside out - whatever, not a problem, it seems to decrease capacity to the point where I need to empty it every hour or two on heavy days, but it'll do. the issue I can't get past, though, is the constant, steady leakage. the flow is greatly reduced, it's catching MOST of it, but a lot still leaks out at a steady pace. it just doesn't feel like I ever get suction with it, like it can't pop open all the way. with a good bit of discomfort I can swirl my finger around the cup and sometimes I feel air move a little bit, but it feels like my finger is resting inside a dent in the side of the cup and I'm just swirling the dent around :P I've tried getting it to open closer to the entrance, and then pushing it in and back/down, which seems like it should help because it situates it in a comfortable place, but it unfortunately doesn't.

it's definitely not residual blood in the canal, because it will leak constantly for hours, even when the cup's like, less than a third full. it just doesn't feel like there's enough room internally for it to open, but at the same time there's obviously blood leaking past it. I'm guessing cause it's due to that dent allowing constant blood flow.

so I'm wondering if a ladycup would be a better fit for me, cause I've heard they suction like DAMN (even if it is a little intimidating). but my flow can be incredibly heavy, so I'm sort of leaning toward trying a large. any advice would be greatly appreciated :) and oh, wasn't there a picture floating around, a size comparison between an inside out diva and large ladycup somewhere? I was trying to find it but couldn't.

and finally, I also wanted to thank you lasses for the excellent information! I've been lurking since january, and this community was just the handholding I needed to finally buy my cup in february :) (yes, I've only used it three times since february, my cycle has always been very irregular - more like a month and a half in between.)

anyway, thanks in advance!

EDIT: I cannot believe I forgot this. the diva DOES suction HARD initially, but there's no air in the thing so it's not at all popped, and if I leave it like that, unpopped, blood just leaks around it, and it hurts a little. it suctions almost totally flattened, and I have to stick my finger in and try to break the seal so I can fill it with a little bit of air. there's really no winning here :P

EDIT 2: does it NEED to be filled with air/popped? it almost seems like the air would just be displaced as it filled with blood, thereby _causing_ the air and (probably some blood) to leak... this is hard to explain. I feel like it probably can't be "popped" and rounded without being air filled, but if I break the initial suction, I can't get it suctioned again... but either way, it'll leak.

EDIT 3: just wanted to collectively thank everyone who's been trying to help me! I really appreciate it :D

Full cup
Hello =)

I have a question that might seem stupid.. But the thing is, my graduation and prom is coming up, and I probably will have my period both days. I'm kind of  new to cups (I've actually been using a cup for about six months, but recently got a new one, a Moon Cup UK), so the whole changing of cup is still a bit messy. For prom, my dress has a light yellow colour, and for graduation it's white. So I thought, since I don't really want to remove and reinsert the cup while wearing these dresses, and risking getting blood all over them, I would just leave the cup in and were pads and change them IF the cup becomes full.

Now, the question is; when the cup is full, what happens? Will the blood simply overflow so that I would be able to only change pads? I got a little scared when I once saw a post here, where the cup had "exploded" or something, which made all the blood in it just flood out :S

Any tips at all what a newbie like me, who isn't able to remove or reinsert without creating a mess, could to? I am not sure that I will need to empty the cup at all, but in case. I don't feel comfortable wearing just a pad anymore, so I really want to be able to use the cup..

I really want to be able to have a good time and not worry about having blood all over my clothes..
Is there a risk that my cup will "explode"?

I would be very thankful for any answers and tips, especially before Wednesday! (Prom night)

Keeping the Lunette in Place
I started my cycle yesterday. I have been using a Lunette Size 2 (the original) since October 2008 and I have gradually improved in using it. The problems are pretty minimal, but I hate having to wear a large pad and a few pantyliners to guard my underwear in case of leaks. Currently, my pad pretty much has no staining on it but one thing I've noticed when going to the toilet is that sometimes the base of my Lunette seems to be jutting out slightly from my vaginal opening. I can feel the first two ridges when this happens. I think that over time the cup slides out a little which leads to leakage.I think I'm pushing it as far as I can because I can feel my cervix going inside when the cup is inserted properly. The seal seems to be pretty good too.  Does anyone have tips to prevent this from happening?

Oy vey! Weekend getaway tomorrow...a little help?
I'm sure everyone's getting annoyed with my incessant postings over the last few weeks, but I've got to do another.  You see, I've finally been able to really test out my cup (Starting yesterday...ugh) and I'm having a couple problems.  Tomorrow I am leaving to head to the beach for the weekend and I would really REALLY love to wear my cup and have less of a hassle in a swimsuit.

While I've always read about suction action, I don't think I've ever actually experienced it (I use a large PinkCup, even though I'm 19 to accommodate my heavy flow); I've always felt like I would be able to just pull my cup out if it wasn't so slippery!  Maybe I'm just a novice cup user, I don't really know.  But I can't actually pull my cup out, and I have to reach inside and reach into the top of the cup, maybe it is suctioned?

Alright, so another problem...I could feel myself ummm "bubbling" is the term I'll use.  That's what it felt like.  I checked and there was leakage.  I removed the cup and it was pretty full, but not to the holes. So there shouldn't have been leaking.  The cup was fully open, I checked when I inserted it, so I know that's not the problem.  I don't know what to do!  I really don't want to have to go back to tampons...

Help?

Update:
Alright, to clarify a few things.  Yes, I do use the swirl and press methods (so helpful from reading all the posts!), and it does make an airy noise, so I do suppose that means it is suctioned properly.

Does anyone know of a good diagram or something I can look at of internal anatomy? I am having trouble understanding the exact position of my cervix so I can't really figure out where it is/ how my cup is fitting in it.

I guess it just is my flow being super annoyingly heavy.

Lastly (hahaha, TMI, here? Really?), no, it had nothing to do with a bowel movement.

Ok, one last thing, this whole removal process is super messy for me. I know that time will teach me better ways, but is there something I'm not getting? (This might be TMI...but I doubt it) I always seem to get soooo very much blood on my hands and this is not a clean process like simply pulling out a tampon string. And with the blood in the holes there is no way I could do this in a stall in public (I've already tried cleaning up with just toilet paper at my house...no such luck).

Newbie Diva Cup User:
Well, after deep consideration and tons of research on the Diva Cup (from watching this community!), I finally got one last night from my local Whole Foods Market. I love the idea of not having to go to the bathroom less, not having to buy boxes of tampons every month and simply the "green" aspect of it. I'm lucky that my period came early yesterday, so I'm able to actually try the cup. (Sidenote: That is the first time I have ever said "I'm lucky my period came..." and actually meant it.) Any way, after an awkward session in the bathroom and going "How am I going to get THAT in THERE?!", I finally did, using the C-fold method. It leaked though, so I took it out and tried the punch-fold instead. It wouldn't open up, even after tugging on it. So, I went back to the C-fold and tried the method of letting it pop open half way and then pushing it in. So far, so good. I can't even sleep because I'm so anxious for the next time I have to change it. I keep checking for leaks, though, because...well, I think all newbies do that. That's what I did when I started using tampons for the first time.

Tampons are evil. >=(

Anyways, hopefully, with the Diva Cup, I can finally have that "Happy Period" Always was...always talking about.

I think sucess rate is higher for those girls who aren't afraid of exploring their vaginas. You just have to get over the fact that you're touching an area that you were told as child not to touch. I haven't told my mom I'm using the Diva Cup. She's real old-fashioned pad user (yuck!). She was all =O when she realized I started using tampons. Imagine this now. Lol!

Anyways, any feedback on the leaking will be greatly appreciated.

*Update*: No luck with the Diva Cup yet. Leaking like a mofo. I'm extremely frustrated. =(

*Update 2*: Well, I tried the DivaCup again, with still no luck. It still leaked even though the cup wasn't even 1/3 full. It's simply isn't sealing, I think, and I have no idea what to do to make it seal. I've tried everything. My period is over (thank God! xD), but I'm def going to try again next month. I'll probably do some dry runs before then as well. Thanks to everyone for your comments!

Twisting the cup
Hello,
I just got my diva cup a few days ago and I love it so far. The only thing that is absolutely aggravating me is I can't seem to be able to rotate it inside me at all. I've tried to twist it while it's in various stages of being inside me, and yesterday it leaked so badly I got fed up and just put a tampon in. I feel like I'm inserting it right, my best friend (who got my diva cup for me as a birthday gift) has showed me  how to use it, how to fold it and insert it and I've read the directions. But I still can't seem to stop it from leaking. Can anyone tell me why I can't twist it? Is there something I'm forgetting to do? Thanks.

Lunette to Lady cup
I posted a while back about the troubles I was having with my keeper. I followed the advice and purchased a Lunette, which I love. It's more comfortable, and it holds more however I still leak occasionally. Not as much as before, but enough to force me to use cloth pads for protection. I thought perhaps switching to a different cup, again, might help. The other cup that everyone suggested before was the Lady cup, and I'm thinking of ordering it up to give it a try. So my question is, is there much difference? I couldn't see much from the pictures and such.. but I suppose there's a squish factor involved? Was anyone else successful in their switch from a Lunette to a Lady cup? Thanks everyone!

I just started using my diva cup. Here is my experience.
Hello all,

It took a while to figure out how to post here-I had to get an account on LiveJournal- but finally I am here and happy sharing my experience with my diva cup.

I used my diva cup first today in the morning right after I got my period. I had no problem inserting it -or this is what I think-
I kept it 3-4 hours and then it leaked while I was peeing. -ONLY when I was peeing-.  I thought I didn't insert it properly so I took it out -which was easy too. I squat down, take a deep breath, relax and it comes down easily.- It was quarter full, it means it worked, doesn't it?-

To insert it properly I read the instructions again and I noticed that I was supposed to rotate it once it is in. I tried everything but I couldn't rotate it. Does that mean it is not actually open inside? Is that why it leaked while I was peeing?

I now became obsessed with it, I want to take it out every 2 hours to see what happened. :)

Phantom leakage?
Hello everyone!
I just started using my Divacup (size 1) and needless to say all of your tips have been great! (found a fold I liked and poked the air holes and realized one had been completely SEALED which is why it was hurting so much in particular).

But now I have a new problem-phantom leaking. When my flow is really heavy I FEEL like I'm leaking even if I'm not. And it gets really awkward when I'm running to the bathroom every 10 minutes because I feel like I'm about to get blood every where even if I'm not. Do any of you know what might cause this or how I can stop it?

Thanks!

Lady Cup vs. Diva Cup (Pt 2)
I previously posted twice about my incessant Diva Cup (small) leaking issues (possibly due to my tilted uterus/cervix, which meant blood was flowing right past the Diva), and I mentioned that I was switching to a Lady Cup (large). I posted some preliminary comparisons when I first received the cup. Well, I've been on my period for three days now, so I'm finally ready to post about the experience. (Yes, I know you have all been waiting with bated breath, haha)

The verdict: Lady Cup has been a huge improvement, with some caveats:

Leaking- pretty much eliminated with LC, so it's not perfect but it's a vast improvement. I have still had some leaking, but usually this occurs when I am sitting down for long periods of time. The LC still zips up my vagina like the Diva did, so when I'm sitting, I think this puts the cup at an angle at which my cervix slips below the rim of the cup. Has anyone else noticed increased leakage when you're sitting down for a while?

Insertion/sealing/popping- oh man, I had never understood prior to the LC how people could just "swish" a finger around a cup to make it open. That NEVER worked with the Diva; if it went in and popped while slightly folded, I'd have to reinsert from the beginning. With the LC, gentle pressure and maneuvering is all it takes, and I can do it in pretty much any position. I attribute this to cup design rather than to experience because I had and used my Diva for six months.

Comfort- although the LC has been worth it because it's made my period almost unnoticeable (and it doesn't make me feel like I have to pee all the time, which the Diva did), the large LC has not been the best fit for me. And I'm not talking about insertion or removal. There is no room for me to get my finger to the rim of the cup, so I've been unable to nudge my cervix into the cup to prevent leakage. Even wiggling it around hurts, and I feel a dull soreness/ache all the time. I chose a large because I'm almost 25 and because it has a bigger capacity, but as a lot of women on here have said, it's a shape rather than a size issue, so I've ordered a small LC that I'm going to try. I'm sure it'll be good for my light days if it doesn't work out for the heavier ones.

Overall, I strongly recommend the LC over the Diva for ladies who've had long-term leakage problems with the Diva and/or who know they have a tilted uterus. The shorter length and greater maneuverability may make it a better choice in these cases. :)
