Best 22 bucks I ever spent.
I wanted to thank the members of this community. I know this is my first time posting but I have been lurking since this summer. I am 24-years-old and not a virgin. I struggled with pads and tampons my entire life. I eventually switched to OBs but even those leaked for me. I have known about menstrual cups for years but I was skeptical to their efficiency. My uterus is tipped which made me even more doubtful.

My first cup was the diva. At the time, I didn't know any other brands existed. I liked the concept of the cup, (actually seeing a cup in person is makes the whole idea much more disarming). But the Diva was too long, even after turning it inside out. It was also difficult for me to get it to pop open. Luckily, I found this site and discovered other cups existed. I eventually decided to get the Femmecup. (It seemed the easiest cup to get into the states.) I like the Mooncup UK and Lunette but I didn't feel like pestering my Swedish friend to smuggle a cup across the Ocean to my vagina. I knew I needed a shorter cup that was easier to pop open.

So far, it has worked out great! I received it in less than 2 weeks. With the shipping and handling only cost me 22 dollars. I was also happy with the no nonsense packaging.

Femmecup envelope.

Here is the bag it came in.

So far, I have had 2 leak free cycles with the Femmecup. I cut the stem completely off. It also tilts in the direction of my uterus. My cervix is on the left side. But it works! I could never see myself going back to tampons again. Sometimes I have to do a bit of a dance to make sure it is in correctly but I haven't had any problems so far.

I also wanted to thank you guys for the different folds. Most of these directions only illustrate the C and punch down fold. The C is never going to get into my vagina. The punch down fold doesn't always open. Learning about the 7 and Origami folds have saved my life. Without this community I probably would have gotten discouraged and gone back to tampons. I really wish that cups were taught in schools so girls would know they have more options. I also wish American women had more options for cups.

Has anyone ever used both a Diva and femmecup?
I want to get my best friend a cup for Christmas, but because of the Diva's length I'm afraid it might not fit her. I believe the femme is the closest in model to the diva so I can give her tips on how to use/remove it. How's the capacity and 'feel' of the femme in comparison? Is the thick rim troublesome at all? Any help is greatly appreciated.

My new toy
My Femmecup came a few days ago, I love it :D  I wanted something that was similar to the MCUK but slightly cheaper, well worth it though.

I also got a cleaning kit from Feminine wear with 8 milton tablets, how much of each tablet should I use in that tub?  I will be cleaning 2 cups at the same time if that makes any difference.

Thanks in advance

Mooncup UK vs. Femmecup
I am looking for opinions from those who have used both cups.  I love my Mooncup, but need a replacement.  Since they are not shipping to the US, the Femmecup seems like the next best alternative.  My only concern is that early reviews said it has small holes.  Any information on how well it pops open and removal would be great.  My next option is asking my aunt to pick one up when she goes to Europe...whenever that is.

TIA :)

My Cup Changed My LIFE!
 Hi Guys!

Just wanted to put up a quick success story! I've had my cup for a while now and I can safly say its changed my life! I've always been stuck with seemingly endless periods that were fairly light but occasionally really really heavy! Meaning I always leaked when I least expected it and was worried about things like TSS when I wasn't sure how heavy that day might be!

My Femmecup has changed EVERYTHING!!! Being able to only have to change it twice a day is fantastic and has meant I can finally not worry about things constantly, I swap it once in the morning and once at night. Occasionally I get the sensation of leaking but ... I go to the bathroom check if it actually is leaking and if it is, its normally just a little,  its easy to clean up and empty it!

I have never felt so liberated! I was always worried about leaking over things when my suprise heavy time would suddenly appear but now .... I just don't have to! Since getting my cup I haven't leaked on ANYTHING, not even once! I would never go back to tampons! My only regret is not buying a cup sooner!

So if anyone out there is debating if this really works... it does! And it is fantastic! Learning to use it is worth it for finding something that actually works!

I'm finally having the happy periods all those adverts always went on about! And I wouldn't be if it weren't for finding this community! Thanks all!!

GreenCup spotting versus Femmecup small capacity
This is only my second cycle successful period with a menstrual cup.  I absolutely love my GreenCup, but had ordered a Femmecup in order to see how I would feel about a narrow bodied versus a hoop skirt.  They are both equally comfortable to wear.  The Femmecup pops open alot easier and is easier to remove.  The Femmecup is too small to be useful for my first day, but the spotting that I have with the GreenCup is completely eliminated with the Femmecup.  I stir with both until my finger comes clean in order to avoid residual sludge.  I've noticed that the outside of my GreenCup always has blood on it after removal, but the femmecup does not, in fact it comes out as clean as it went in.  This makes removal a lot cleaner.  I think that this might be caused by the angle of the holes on the GreenCup, being that they are lower on the outside than on the inside.  I'm guessing that as the blood runs down the side past the holes it slowly drips out of the holes.  Does anyone else think that this may be the reason?  I only ask because the Femmecup is way to small for my first day and just big enough not to be a big issue on my second day.  I'd like more capacity and if the angle of the holes is the only issue, then a Lunette (once they are being shipped to the US again) would be perfect.

The right cup or not
I have been using my femmecup for my last two cycles and I love how clean it is, even though I leaked once or twice, I had on a pad for back up, but I still felt it to be very clean. But I am wondering if this is the right cup for me. My main concern is the capacity and the hardness of the top ring. My first concern about the capacity is not to do with my periods now, more to do with when I get my IUD inserted and the amount of bleeding will increase, but since the femmecup can hold 15mL and the bigger cups go upto 20mL, how much difference is 5mL going to make?

My other concern has to do with the hardness of the top ring. I think I like that the top ring is hard, because it makes it easy for it to pop open, but when I take my cup out, I tend to take it out fully open, but slightly tilted. I feel a little pain when the opening comes out, I am not sure if this is something I will get used. But a worry for me is, will the cup make my muscles loose from removing the up fully open? Is this something I should be worried about, or not?

Other than these concerns I love my cup, I can't really feel it when it is in, but I am sad that my cramps have not decreased when it is in, I think the cup gives slight pressure on my cervix, because I have cramp pains on my third day of bleeding, when I only usually have cramps on the first day.

I asked my gyno about using my cup with the IUD and she said that it is fine, and I asked about the strings being pulled out by the cup and she said it is nothing to worry about.

FemmeCup Manufacturing Info
I was curious about the FemmeCup when someone recently posted that it is made in China. I investigated because I thought it is made in the U.K.  Their site says it is made in the "far east".  Since I am suspect of chinese production standards, I emailed FemmeCup and got an immediate response.  The silicon is manufactured in the U.K., then it is shipped to China to be poured into the moulds.  I'm not sure if I feel better about that or not, but here is the info so you all can make an informed choice. Thought I'd pass it on.

Total Cup Length
I was wondering if anyone has made a list or chart comparing the total length, including the stem, of all the cup currently available. I think this information would be helpful for those of us who are a little longer.

I have a fairly long vagina and during the last few days of my period I find it difficult to reach my Miacup to remove it. Pinching the bottom of the cup doesn't work for me, I have to get my finger over the rim to break the suction and bearing down while holding the stem helps me hold it low enough to do this.

I'm thinking of buying a second cup that is longer to make removal easier on those days. I got an IUD about six weeks ago and want to make removal as trouble free as possible to avoid disturbing it.

Just from look at photos of the different cups it appears to me that the Femmecup has a longer stem than most other cups but the cup itself is shorter than my Mia. Do you ladies think that would be a good option?

Any advice from users who have worked through a similar problem would be much appreciated.

Thanks!

Removal methods needed

Hi
I have a femmecup and I need removal methods. I did a dry run today and was able to get the cup in pretty quickly using the c fold, but need tips on how to remove it. The firs time I tried to remove it, I thought my cup would stay stuck inside me forever. I have reached my finger up the side to break the suction, but I don't think that is working, because when I try to bring my thumb in to help remove the cup my finger slides down from the rim, so if the suction was broken it would seal again. I have tried bearing down and digging my fingers into the base.
Another thing that happens is that I end up taking the whole cup out, without it folded which is slightly painful when the rim passes through the opening.

Please give me your methods for removing the cup. I am trying to practice before I get my iud put it, so I want to have the removal method down pretty good.

Another question is should I try the cup on a dry run but keep it in for longer than a few minutes, like could I try having the cup in for a couple hours while I am out running errands?

Thanks

Trying to decide
Hi, I've been avidly reading this group since I found it. Such a great resource!

I've got some questions and hopefully someone knows. After buying the larger sized Diva (I'm 34 & had a baby 2 yrs ago), I had some initial luck but then lots of issues with expulsion, irritation, leakage, etc. (I never lost my cup in the toilet, but I actually lost it

in my pants once! ))

So thank goodness for you ladies, I learned about the inside-out Diva trick, which made a huge difference on the irritation issue, and no more expulsions so far.... But it's still too long, especially when I'm sitting crosslegged on the floor, which I do a lot. So I'm trying to decide between Femmecup (one size), Lunette (large), and MooncupUK (large).

So my questions:
1. When I turn the Diva inside out, it goes from 57mm long (stemless) to ~51-52mm long, by my measurements. But it still hangs out a bit. The Femme, Lun, & MUK all start at 50-52mm (stemless), so they might also hang out unless inverted. I want to know how much shorter they would get? The base of the Diva has a thick tight curve, and I imagine that a cup with a thinner broader base might not shorten by as many millimeters when inverted. Does anyone know how long any of these cups would be when inverted? And oh yeah, anyone know how easy it will be to grip any of these buggers when inverted?

2. Is an inverted cup going to last as long? I don't want to ruin a cup 3 times as fast because of strain on the silicone....

3. Are vaginal muscles just looser when you sit cross-legged on the floor? Is this destined to become a problem? Or is this really going to Kegel away?

4. Does the bell-shape vs. uniformly wide shape make a difference in terms of staying in if width is also a concern? (kuradi8 calls them "hoop skirts" here: http://community.livejournal.com/menstrual_cups/1285963.html) Maybe I'm just getting confused by the term "hoop skirt". On one hand, a uniformly wide shape would have more surface area on contact with the vaginal walls, but on the other hand, the flange of a bell-shaped cup might have some extra holding power....

Thanks in advance!!!!!!!!!!!

What are the differences between the Mooncup UK and Femmecup?  Is one softer than the other?  Are the holes the same size?  Thanks!

My Photos & Reviews For Femmecup, Large Lunette, Small Lunette Selene

Hey everyone, this week, I got my Femmecup and Lunette/Lunette Selene bundles in the mail! Wanted to share my photos and reviews with everyone. So far I love, love, LOVE all the brands I’ve tried. They all seem to work for me (meaning they fit comfortably and form a good seal). Its just that they each work in a different way, and serve a different purpose, at various times in my cycle, which is a lovely thing. Maybe I am shaped a certain way that agrees with menstrual cups or something, I don’t know, lol.

My webcam is one of those cursed cheap ones off eBay, and I am getting a new Quickcam 9000 in a few days, which will have much better quality (once I get the money transferred into my back account). So I’ll be able to take MUCH better photos then. But for now, the ones I have will do, I will just update them later. I tried to include what the benefits of each brand are, to help people decide. And for Lunette, there are also reviews on some of their other products.  So here are the reviews:

First Cup for My Sister

I have a DivaCup, and I love it. I just recently got to use it on my period (today's the first day!). I cut off the stem completely and inserted it when I had a little spotting last night, and when I woke up, I had a full cup. No leaks, though my feminine moisture (whatever you call it) bypasses the cup like it's not even there. I thought it was a leak, but it was just, you know, the clear stuff. Anywho, I've been thinking about getting my 13 year old sister her first cup. She hasn't started her period yet, but I wanted her to have a cup ready as an option. She knows all about cups, but isn't sure which one she wants. I've heard that just about every cup is good for beginners. I'm leaning towards LadyCup/ColoredCup, or even the Femmcup. What do you ladies think? I think I'll do a poll for this one, but comments are welcomed lots!

A Question And A Comment

I gave my new Diva Cup a dry run last week.  It went great.  I got my new Femmecup today, and decided to give it a dry run too.  It's a lot softer than the Diva.  I've had no problem with the Diva opening, but the Femmecup did not want to open.  I learned two things with it.  I can insert a finger directly across from the fold and push it out by pushing down on the fold from the top with my finger through the cup, or insert a finger directly under the fold or crease and push away on my vaginal wall until it unfolds.  The Diva stem feels comfortable to me, however the Femmecup was trimmed in minutes.  What I did was a little different I think.  I didn't want to pull the cup all the way back out again, so I got a mirror with the magnifier on it, and squatted down over it.  I spread open my labia, and found the exact spot where the stem just dissapears.  I pulled the cup down until the bottom was hanging out and I cut the stem at the point where it had been just inside my deepest fold.  This ended up being about four lines up.  I think that was about just over half.  No pokey after that!  Now I'm just waiting for my LadyCup and Lunette I ordered from www.leastore.com.  They should be here anyday.  My period on the other hand, won't be here until the 15th.  And I actually can't wait.

My question:  You know how sometimes a girl queefs? (I f-ing HATE that word)  Does anyone think that would mess up someones seal?  I'm not even sure how that air gets there to begin with, so maybe it's not even possible if you wear a cup.  Just wondering if anyone ever though of that before

Pain after finishing period with cup
Not sure if anyone else out there has experienced this problem but here goes... Wore my Femmecup for the first time this period, everything pretty much OK throughout, but removed the cup on Monday after my period ended and since then have experienced pains inside which are most uncomfortable, enough to take pain relief tablets. Sometimes it feels as though my muscles are overtight, other times it's like a dragging sensation. It seems to be more on the side where the bottom of the cup would have rested, I cut the stem off and sanded the area as recommended on the forum, when the cup is in situ it sits at an angle thus resting against one side of my insides. This has caused no end of discomfort when by now I would be past any period cramps which is why i purchased the cup - it didn't stop my cramps BTW.

Any advice would be most welcome as it's putting me off using it again.

First Time User & Leakage
Hi, I'm a newbie to using menstrual cups but bought the Femmecup a week or so ago and have been trying it out on this period. Up till now things have gone pretty smoothly, once I found the 7 fold and experimented a little with removal (not so easy) I found it comfortable to use and no leaks. My flow is pretty light until about day 5 and so now I have been experiencing some leakage and so came on the forum again to see what snippets of info there would be. I have enlarged the four holes using a cocktail stick - at least they look a little better, and have taken the time to have a quick foray around to locate my cervix and now believe its sitting in the right place - fingers crossed! Up till now I kind of just pushed it in and hoped for the best - not very scientific I know. I have cut off the stem as it's too uncomfortable with it on which makes tugging on it to check the suction a little difficult so not sure if there are any other ways to check that it's situated OK? I ran my finger around the edge and felt just wall as opposed to anything "hard" so know that it's OK there but does the suction just happen? When I have removed it for cleaning although there's not alot there it is inside the cup mostly but the holes do look blocked which is why I have tried to make them a little bigger this time. Any advice would be welcome, I am keen to make these a success as tampons are becoming uncomfortable and I have heard that several women find it helps with their cramps which is why I bought it in the first place and up till now it's also helped me to ignore the fact that I'm on a period.

Thanks in advance.

Femmecup Review
First post here, be gentle ;-)

I haven't seen any reviews of the Femmecup yet, so I thought I'd jump in.

I started with a DivaCup and tried 3 cycles with it, but it became clear after reading here that it was just too long. I reviewed the very helpful stat post and found the shortest cup (at the time - I think there are more listed now) and ordered my Femmecup from England, since I couldn't find it for sale anywhere here in the States.

Delivery was *very* fast!

Overall, I'm totally happy with the Femmecup. The length is just right (I cut off the stem) and the thicker rim makes it pop open much easier for me than the Diva. My cycle is short and light, and I swear I'm down to only a day and a half of bleeding now. I like that the holes are large - easy to squeeze water through when suctioned to my palm.

If you find the Diva is just too long, try the Femme - you'll be glad you did!

Edited for location - duh!

homepage for menstrual cups
Hi there,

I'm all new in this place...and you'll probably notice that my English is not the best and that I don't know exactly how this whole community-thing works out ;o) I'm working on it ;o)

2 years ago I discovered the Mooncup first and changed to the Lunette, because of the higher capacity. I felt and still feel so happy that I've discovered the menstrual cups that I felt like spreading the word actively. That's how the story of my own homepage began.

My homepage includes many pictures of all the cups, as many informations about them as possible and in the future, I'll be translating all the tricks to handle them. If anyone feels like helping me out with the translations or correcting my poor translations...let me know ;o)

So here it is...

The direct way to the english part...
http://afriska-engl.de.tl/

*Brands and sizes* is the part which is allready translated and more or less finished...

I hope I can contribute to the menstrual-cups-communities in the world like this :o)
I'm working on it!

femmecup question
i see that the femmecup has the same dimensions as the mooncup UK. my question is... are the holes large enough to squirt water through them by filling it with water and putting it against your palm? (much like the mooncup uk can easily do and unlike the divacup, which is extremely difficult to do?)

What's the difference?
I have decided that I want to get either a Lady cup,Mooncup,or FemmeCup. What I was wanting to know is what is the difference between them? I know all cup's are pretty much the same, but is there any big difference between these 3 cup's? I have read on here about the Mooncup, but there isn't much on the other 2 cup's,that's why I am asking yall. What's the difference between the Mooncup u.k and the Mooncup u.s? I was also wanting to know which one of these 3 is the most fexible? And which one is the smallest? Thanks :)

One more thing,Where is the best place to buy these cup's?
