| About: | Melodic Muse is a monthly challenge where I will post a specific album's lyrics, and members can write a story inspired by any of the songs. You can name your fic after a song, write a song fic, write a story inspired by a lyric. It doesn't have to have any part of the song in it as long as it was inspired by a particular song that has been posted. All fandoms, pairings, original fiction, and ratings are allowed. If there is adult content (NC-17, slash, etc.), the story must have the proper warnings. That way we neatly avoid any nasty, unwanted surprises by readers who stay away from certain things, and the world is a happier place. At the risk of being repetitive: 1. On the 1st of every month, I will post a new set of songs from a specific artist's album. It might be country, rock, pop, or soundtracks, but an entire album's worth of lyrics will be posted. 2. Members will read through the lyrics, see what inspires them, and write a story in any fandom they choose. 3. You may post your story whenever it's finished, but definitely by the 1st of the following month, which will be the deadline for the previous month's challenge. A new challenge will be posted, and the cycle starts over. 4. All entries should be a minimum of 500 words. 5. More than one entry is allowed. However much fic you can write per challenge is how much we'll take. 6. No bashing or flaming of others and their fandoms. If you don't have praise or constructive criticism of someone's story, they don't need to hear it. Even then, you're taking a risk with the latter. 7. The main objective here is to get inspired and have fun with music and writing.
