Puppy Schools
Good evening!

Having just become the proud parent of a seven week old Blue Heeler, I am looking for a puppy school.

I currently live in Newport (Williamstown for those who don't know where that is) But I am willing to travel for a highly recommended trainer, however West or South East would be good. I'd prefer classes, so he can socialise too, rather than private.

I don't even know what a reasonable price range for sessions would be either...

I am planning on practicing a few things with him in the next few days, mainly how to walk on the lead, properly.

His Dad is very smart & I taught him a few things with ease, so I anticipate it should be smooth sailing as his personality is much like his Daddy's.

Thanks in advance.

When my dog was a pup, I took her in to the Puppy Pre-School that runs at Kensington Vet Clinic (http://www.kensingtonvet.com.au/ - I'm thinking that their website isn't quite finished). The women who run it are from the Delta Society and were both fun and very helpful - I'd recommend them highly.

It was a couple of years ago that we went and I can't remember the exact price, but I think that it was around $100 for the full course.

Here's an enrolment form, which has a little more info on the course.. and a link to the Delta Society's website, in case you'd like to know who they are.

And before I forget again - congratulations. :)

Thank you :o)

That seems very reasonable, so I might even go past on my way home from work tomorrow.

Hey cool, I'm from Williamstown myself!

From memory, there's a Puppy Preschool at the Vet near Williamstown North station. I don't have dogs, just a cat, but I've used that vet for many many years and all their staff are extremely knowledgeable and professional. Could be worth giving them a call and enquiring?

The Vet is great, we used to take our dog there until Dad moved her to Mildura.

I had planned on checking it out, since I can walk there!

My dogs have had success at the Altona puppy school run at Cherry Lake on Sunday mornings. I think the proper title is Altona Civic Obedience Dog School

We took our dog to a free one at the vet on Williamstown Road in Yarraville/ Kingsville. Long road, I know, but it's somewhere in between Coles (High Street and Anderson Street) and the intersection with Francis Street.
