Long shots

I'd say my chances are pretty remote, but -- if anyone found a Nokia 6131 phone today, either between Fraser and Danks Streets in Middle Park, on a 112 tram, or somewhere between Queens, Collins and Elizabeth Streets in the city, I'd be most pathetically grateful if they could let me know.  I've lost mine, and as I've applied for a lot of jobs lately, I'm sort of in a panic.  Not to mention that I can't afford to replace it.

Pathetic as it sounds, even the SIM card would be received with tears of gratitude.

Thanks! Time to make a call to Virgin, perhaps.

Also, call the Tram operator and get their Lost and Found dept. number, report the phone there.

Also, report the loss to the Police.

That sucks beyond belief... good luck. And maybe your provider can divert all calls to the number somewhere else. Someone else might know more about that as a possibility.

I assume that you've called the phone and it's either been turned off, or nobody is answering it?

That sucks. Hope you find it!

I've called the phone, but there's no answer. (And it's definitely nowhere in my flat.)

I guess that could be a sign that somebody hasn't stolen it for their own :D and maybe it's just laying somewhere...

I know that if I was going to steal a phone, I'd turn it off, take the sim out and throw it away, then put my own sim in, or just keep it off until i found a way of unlocking it so I could use my sim with it. (btw, I've never stolen a phone in my life... but that's just what I'd so)

But if it's ringing out everytime, it might just be in the street somewhere, and someone will pick it up. Hopefully it will turn up :)

*nod* And, you know, if anyone's found the handset, they can keep it. The battery falls out every time I look at it wrong anyway. (Hey, that suggests it didn't just fall out of my bag, if it's still switched on and working...) I have spare handsets, all I want is the SIM.

I have this pathetic little hope that it's fallen down into a dark, unknown corner at work. *crosses fingers*

Ooh! There's an idea... Maybe it is at your work. I hope the battery holds out long enough for you to rock up tomorrow and give it a ring. :)

I'm with vodafone, not virgin, but I'm pretty sure if you tell them that the phone has been misplaced/stolen/lost, they can cancel the sim, and port your number across to a new sim so you don't miss calls - and at least if you do miss calls, you'll still have access to your voicemail. That might be your first port of call tomorrow morning...

I've already called them. I've got access to my voicemail, now, and had a bar put on the phone so no one can use my SIM -- and they can give me a new SI, but I will have to wait SIX FREAKING MONTHS before they'll let me have my old number back. Which defeats the purpose somewhat.

6 months?! WTF VIRGIN?? Go to vodafone tomorrow, and sign up for a prepaid account. lol. You'll get your old number back straight away (and not to mention good value caps. lol)

No way mate. We can do it in store in about 2minutes, you wait a few hrs and bingo, new sim...whoever told you that, its a load of shit. Either a vodafone store or a crazy johns can do it.

I did want to ask why I shouldn't walk into a competitor's store, get a new contract and my old number back tomorrow -- but the girl had already accidentally given me another customer's personal details, so I figured she wasn't smart enough to answer that question.

Plus, I still have a few months left on my Virgin contract, and will have to pay that out if I cancel.

Argggh contracts. Its so lame how they make it so difficult for honest people to figure out their shit but jobless crackwhores can sign up for the biggest phones and contracts even though they'll never pay the bill.

Ahh cool, do you work with customers or staff? Are you the evil being that sent me girls shirts that come to just below my ribcage rather than being hip length? Arggh I had to get mens ones in the hope I can tailor them to fit properly.

I'm in Area 3 under Daragh, and hes firm and fair which is a good thing for an AM to be.

Do CJ's ever hire casuals?

I don't think they do casuals. Part time in the contact centre we have two, but the rest are full timers.

What store are you at?
We deal with everyone and everything. One day you might ring the store hotline and I'll answer!

We just have to wear business casual, but we get away with pretty much anything clothing wise, which is awesome since we just answer the phones!

I'm at the Northland store, good old Norfies hahah. The job itself is fairly easy, but we are right near the food court, which means we get screaming children and morons asking really silly questions while they wait for their food all day long.

"Can I get the N95 8gig for free on a 12month contract?" 0_0 hell no, hahah.

I work for Voda/Crazy Johns and you can do a SIM swap which transfers all your details onto a new sim. You can do it instore, it usually costs - $33 with CJ/Voda. I don't see why Virgin cannot do it?

Maybe send a message to the phone saying "Whoever finds this you may keep the phone please just send the sim card to blabhalbhlahb".

I dunno. Desperate times = desperate measures!

i work for Optus and i do sim replacements. I dont see why they cannot just send you a blank sim and move your current number over onto that sim. This is just called a sim replacement and it happens when people loose their handsets. It is stupid you cannot get your number back and they cant do that for you. Maybe speak to a team leader at Virgin because they resell off Optus anyways
