Movie Announcement: "The Company Of Wolves"

Hello everyone,
The Australian Centre For The Moving Image (ACMI), located in Federation Square, has some kind of film program going almost every night, at least until the end of May.
One movie I think it would be good if we all went to see is "The Company of Wolves," a little-known classic from '84. Here's an excerpt from the ACMI booklet:

"The Company of Wolves", Rated M
Directed by Neil Jordan, 95 mins, UK, 1984
Neil Jordan's reconstructed werewolf tale explores the dark, psychosexual undercurrents of the Little Red Riding Hood fairytale. Played out from the point of view of 'twelve and 3/4 years-old' Rosaleen (Sarah Patterson), it foretells the fate of all young girls who stray from the forest path (despite which, young Red simply can't resist pashing a handsome he-wolf). Jordan is an assured visual stylist who conveys the Freudian subtext of Angela Carter's gothic narrative - adapted from stories in Carter's 1979 anthology 'The Bloody Chamber' - with a heady blend of symbolism and Hammer Horror theatrics.

There are only two screenings, as this is an imported filmprint. These are on Friday 9th May or Friday 16th May, both at 10 pm.
Full price admission is $13, with concession costing $10.
We'll meet up on the night at about 9:30 pm on the steps in front of Flinder's Street Station. Perhaps after the movie, we could go for drinks at the All Nations bar on Spencer Street, just across from Southern Cross Station and down the road a bit. If there is anyone who would like to go and see this film with Amber and myself, leave a comment or drop me an email, and we can work out which screening would be more convenient.

Here is my latest work am having to do this for a assignment a line art drawing oif a burger, last time she said it looked too rushed so am hopping she likes it this time, it isnt finished yet but what do you think so far? please let me know as i want this to look good and her to like it seeing as i am worse in my class at drawing, and before you say the onion and tomatoe sauce is not done yet just look at bun burger cheese lettuce and seeds, plus cant add color as we are supposed to do one line art one siloettee however you spell it and one colorised version, please reply with your opinions please, thank you all in advance.

[NEW] Iron Man Movie Meet Final Details

Hey furs,

So sorry if this disadvantages anyone, but I'm having to change the movie date to Sunday May 4th. From the interest I've received, I'm hoping this will make it easier for those who work during the weekdays. Plan will be to meet outside the ticket purchasing place at 4pm, followed after the movies with dinner at Star East (our favourite restaurant choice for furs). For those of you who prefer not to see the movie, but would like to attend the dinner, movie is estimated to finish just after 6:45pm. So here are the final details for the meet:

What:      Iron Man
Where:    Century City, Glen Waverley
When:     Sunday 4th May, 4pm.
Who:       Anyone who wants to come.

Start time will be 5pm.... people can turn up from then on..
Dinner was going to be a BBQ.. but now it's gonna be take away.. I will be taking final orders and ringing by 7pm

There will be some video's happening and music on the other side.. There are also plans for fursuit twister.. and maybe some other activities.. Anyways...

As some of you may know, my friend Gilligan from Perth is going to be visiting are fare city, so I thought what a good idea would be to get under way is a Bowling night for her. I think she will enjoy it and it be a good chance for her to meet some more Melb furs. So wanted to see how would be interested in going to Knox bowling alley?

Reason why here, is that they have had us before without trouble and have been really nice allowing us to fursuit and or wear furry bits. And it just Closer for few of us and for myself since no car.

SO it's as quiet as anything..

How's about some diary events..

1st of March... (saturday week)

I was thinking about a lovely little sing-a-long video night....   Yes people you read right.. SING-a-LONG..

The run down would be a very camp Hairspray early in the evening, then BUFFY - Once More With Feeling, and to finish the night off -

ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW.....

I'm putting this on late as it's appropriate to be watching it late at night..

So if you want to come turn up!!!   No entry fee, BYO drinks will order pizza or some form of takeaway between Hairspray and Buffy..

                    9.15 - Buffy
                                            10.30 - Rocky horror

If you need to stay over please let me know asap.. I think we can probably fit 4 maybe 5 into the house at the moment...

The much anticipated sequel to pony's on a plane is going to be filmed on the 9th February if you are interested in being apart of this fantastic production we need the following cast,
Pilot
Furry (with ears)
Adult Baby (will be in nappy plastic pants and bonnet)
Human Puppy
Flight Attendant
Passenger

Stupid question but aside from Tzup, Scrapper, Diasis & myself.. are there any other motorbike ridin' furs that I've missed along the way?? There is a ride next saturday that might be of intrest... The Police Blue Ribbon ride which supports the funding of trauma and intensive care wards through out the states hospitals..

Today - Being Saturday there is the 'Carnival' which marks the opening..

On Sunday 3rd Feb - Pride March happens in St. Kilda @ 5pm. People gather along Fitzroy St. from 3 onwards...

There are a bucket load of other events on.. There are many event's not requiring people to be gay or lesbian or anything else that are worth turning up to.. Check out the music as there are some amazing performers appearing. If visual arts are your cuppa then deffinately make an effort to see them.. Other wise get out there and enjoy..

Mardi Gras Time!

Sorry if you've already seen it.

It's that time of year again when Dustan and Lupie turn into Nazi's and with Ivan organise the furry entry for Mardi Gras.

Details under cut...

The parade this year will be held on Saturday 1st March. It is the 30th anniversary of the parade which started off in 1978 as a protest march. That first parade wasn't as glamourous and peacefull as the modern carnival we know and love today. This years theme is "Brave New Worlds". To tie in with this idea of boldly going where no man has gone before we have decided to create "Planet of the Furs".
A space shot view of the curve of the earth will be painted down either side of the truck with appropriate clouds and a glowing horizon. Planted in the top will be the furry pride flag and a dusty Neil Armstrong like paw print next to it.
And to pay homage to Planet of the Apes there will be a furry statue of liberty hanging off the back of the truck with a rainbow fabric flame thing on her torch.

Oh and of course there will be a bubble machine. Because we can.

So now all we need is people to come and be in it! All fursuiters will be on the back of the truck. After afew years of experience we know that no-one can survive walking 2kms uphill in a full fursuit without suffering badly from heat stress. If you really would like to march you can in a partial suit as long as your eyes won't fog up.
The marching group this year I am hoping to organise alittle better. We did pretty well last year considering you couldn't hear the music. This year we will fix that problem.

In order to cover costs we will need a 30 to 50 dollar contribution from each participant. You will recieve a souvenier in return such as a t-shirt or hand prop. It will also be cheaper if we have more people (funnily enough).

So if you are interested please email me soon so I can have a rough idea of our budget and what sort of choreography we can manage for the walking group. I will be holding afew poles as well so you guys can help decide things like what songs we will have and what the marching group will be wearing. The bad news is that it's not very cheap... the tickets I'm looking at are $85.50 - B reserve - (what ever that means!!!) Anyways.. I'm guessing people are gonna be like me and need to save.. I'm looking at buying the tickets in a months time.
